Apocalyptic dream makes me grumpy.

I think my sleeping mind was ****ed off with me. Without going into great detail I dreamed that scientists had discovered a singularity (black hole) had entered the solar system and was heading straight for the sun.

My dream was basically a series frightened depressed moments of looking up a sun whose gasses are being drawn away to an ever expanding accretion disk, trying to comfort my wife and sun, and watching the world go to hell. It even had one of those moments where you realize its a dream and want to wake up but can't. Carl Sagan coming to my front door to sell me a survival bunker was a dead give away.

Any thoughts on how I can avenge myself upon my sleeping mind for putting me through that?

Telling your mind that the dream was scientifically inaccurate may lead to it becoming embarrassed and giving you pleasant dreams for a while.:D

(Damn, ninja'd by the post above :p)

I'd suggest something, but my DAY dreams are twisted enough.

I swear - too much Poe.

That's like the one I had where me and a bunch of guys from my submarine crew were chasing a bad guy into a very large warehouse. off in the corner this warehouse was a full sized Saturn V rocket. We would chase the guy up an elevator, then over a catwalk towards the rocket, where then everyone would proceed to fail to make the jump across a break in the catwalk. after "landing" some 300 feet below, we'd all pick up ourselves off the floor, and start the chase all over again. The really infuriating part i, it was a Lucid Dream for me. couldn't convince the guys to quit going back up and trying to make that dang jump each and everytime.

As for a Black Hole in the solar syatem, that's pretty much the main premise of the Starblazers: Resurrection movie they made back in 2009.

I once had a dream where G W Bush had ordered a nuclear strike against some target but it ended up just killing a lot of innocent civilians. The whole world was extremely upset with the US, and in a desperate bargain to make reparations everyone who was remotely involved in the operation was sentenced to death. In the dream I was working at the air-base where the attack came from. So I, along with many others, were rounded up and executed.

How's that for subconscious fears? Yes that was my real dream, It was scary, I really thought I was going to die (and I did in the dream). The "fun" part is how we were all killed. There were so many people involved that it was decided to just to herd us all into a spot where an asteroid was going to hit the earth. Talk about going out with a bang.

Whats most annoying about the dream is that it was one of those loooong ones. Like a movie who's made its message clear early on but keeps going on and on. Carl Sagan was a nice cameo appearance though. I do give a dream an extra star rating if it tosses in a celebrity. And if it was a movie I'd say the FX for the sky was amazing even if it was lacking scientific accuracy.

I don't dream, I day dream. And most of them are quite morbid.

Like going into a warzone to rescue one's parents, only to have to shoot them because they'd rather die at the hands of somebody close to them then to be killed slowly at the hands of their former captors.

Like waking up one day and realizing that everything in the world is going horribly wrong, finding yourself at the center of the chaos stuck in your own body as an observer, not as it's controller.

Like having the knowledge and power of a God, and not being able to use any of it while people all around you die horrible deaths.

Like being stuck in a room with nothing to do, the only sound the ticking of a clock and nothing else.

Like finding out the first time you completely gave yourself to another, only for them to turn around and stab you repeatedly.

You can't stop yourself from playing out these scenarios?

Daydreams are in a way my revenge on my sleeping mind. In fact. *Daydreams*

There, the black hole turned into a giant cookie and rained cookies down on the planet. Happy ending!

No, I can't. It's quite scary at times - and makes me question whether or not I'm just the regular insane, or the problematic insane at times.

But it's damn good material for my writing - and it makes up for the fact I very rarely remember my dreams, if I have one.

Yeah, when I remember my dreams it's usually the weird parts, such as:

"I go to open the drapes (they are those full length heavy brocade types with the lacey interior or secondary drape) and the interior drap is covered in odd black spiders (some would not technically count as spiders since they do noty have 8 legs) of all sizes. All have a skull of some kind on their backs (like hermit crabs), the small ones have mice or bird skulls, the bigger ones have human skulls on their backs. I hate spiders but was strangely unafraid of this imagery and the spiders were not aggressive."

You might me all, "what-the-hey? You're weird!" Well, I told this to some friends and one of them, with undisguised envy, said, "you have the coolest dreams!" In my book, that makes him weirder than me...

Keep a dream journal and write them down as soon as you wake up.

Lucid dreaming is pretty cool (where you are in REM sleep but semi-conscious within your dream).

I had a dream one time that felt so real it was like I was actually there walking around in it. I was visitng one of those tropical desert islands with a medival castle on it. It was night and the stars were shining. I walked into the castle and was wondering why no one was there, because (it seemed to me in the dream) there were supposed to be so many people hustling and bustling around this place. It was also a little cold, but it was night so I didn't think anything about it at the time.

I walked into the keep and went into the throne room. It was one of those majestic ones with red velvet carpets and tapestries and drapes hanging from the ceilings. The throne room was lined with big 8 foot tall windows that looked out into the castle courtyard. It was so cold, and the royal family wasn't there. Suddenly I felt sheer terror as I turned around and looked out a window and saw this gigantic ice-blue cats eye staring at me through the window. They eye took up the whole window. I (somehow I knew of these things) ran for a secret door in the wall of the other side of the throne room and opened it up. I closed it just as the Ice Dragon blasted it with its frozen breath. It was exhilirating like nothing I had ever felt before, terror that struck you to your core, because the dragon seemed so real, and its eye was so haunting. Once inside the secret room I walked down a spiraling staircase and came to the castle's secret escape route - to find the skeletons of the royal family in front of a tunnel leading outside, completely filled with solid ice. At that moment I knew I was doomed to the same fate.

Then I woke up. It was so cool I tried to go back to sleep and dream it again, but I couldn't. I spent the whole day thinking about it, because while I know it wasn't real? (key the question mark...) it felt so real and I had never felt terror like that before, it was horrible and exhilirating at the same time. I've never felt anything like that except in that dream. Tingling up and down your body, dude. It was like dreaming in high definition. The HDTV of dreams.

And no, I don't do drugs, nor ever have. It was that dream that got me into studying lucid dreaming, but I've never been able to get a dream like that before. I tried keeping a dream journal once, you just keep a journal next to your bed and write down everything that happened before you forget it. Everyone usually does dream every night, but the dreams don't store themselves in your brain like everyday things do, and you forget them 5-10 minutes after you wake up.

I only did the dream journal thing for about a week because I found most that of my dreams are just way too eerie or embarrasing for me to want to remember, actually.
