Any health nuts here?

I'm thinking about getting off my butt and eating right and working out however I find most of the TRIBBLE online unhelpful. They usually go farther than I would want to and are complicated, involve massive amounts of cooking or cost too much. Like any American I want the EZmode to health (though I'm sure it doesn't exist). :p

I've looked up examples of health diets (not the hunger diet but just a healthy one) but they're all too extreme. Stuff like eating a peanut or cracker for lunch. Or just things that are NASTY. What I'm looking for are examples of health diets that are easier and not insane. Foods that aren't terrible. Basically the kind that sacrifices some taste but not all of it.

As for work out plans I'm much more open.

Anyone have suggestions (no pills or TRIBBLE like that!)? I feel like after they stopped requiring P.E. way back in high school I've just been downhill. They should require P.E. throughout all of your school.

Was a diet I read about a long time ago called the Warrior diet.

Fruits and veggies in the morning, nothing for lunch and whatever you wanted for dinner, in a nutshell.

There was probably more to it, but that was the general gist of it. By eating fruits and veg in the morning (Not in heavy syrup or in dressing) you force your body to use the sugars and other nutrients in the fruits and veg, which kickstarts your metabolism. By skipping lunch, you kick it up some more, so by the time dinner rolls around, your body will metabolize what you eat instead of storing it.

It has something to do with the way people ate in the age of harvesting and hunting.

The best theory I have in your eating habits. most psychologists will tell you a habit is formed after 21 days or 3 weeks. The best thing to do would be add 1 or 2 items to your diet while taking away one or two bad things during this 3 week time frame. After awhile you no longer should have impulses for the bad foods. One example would be to stop drinking soda and drink more water. Another would be limit fried foods and try to bake or boil more. Almond butter is almost as good as Jiffy but it doesnt come with the gunk that lines your artiries ( ie what keeps the oil in the peanut butter).

Another thing is limit your food type intake during the day. Carbs and protein up till lunch and then go more protein only after lunch. They are easier to break down and once you do go to sleep won't be stored on your body as fat. PM me if you have other questions.

Eh, kinda. I'm not obsessive about it, but there's a lot of food I look at like "Yeah, no. I would rather live" most fast food falls into that bracket.

The only issue most body builders will say is your not feeding your body every 2 to 3 hours. A little bit of food in your stomach will keep your metabolisim burning all day. If you limit your metabolism too much, the negative effect is your body will shut down and conserve all the fat already stored. This does not help if you would like to loose some. Just eat enough to tricky your body into thinking its getting fed often enough and the metabolism will sky rocket.

    Word.
It's ironic that eco friendly veggies uses fertilizers(yes... They do) that are more dangerous since they are using older more dangerous kinds rather than modern fertilizers which are made to be very safe.
So eating that stuff has a higher risk of making you unhealthy. :p

Yeah no, they don't, more dangerous ones that is. they use less than regular farmers That are way less harmful this is the same for pesticides. that's what the whole idea is.

The benefits are environmental, not health related.

    As for the O.P.

Regular exercise and a well moderated diet, doesn't have to be specific stuff, just don't eat deep fried food and expect to get healthy.

I've done that tons. I love Saltines. I'm pretty sure I eat like 1000% the salt I'm supposed to. I don't eat too terribly. I just don't eat good though. But I eat a lot of salt... I put it on everything. Saltines are so good when they're the really salty ones. :)

Oh right it was the pesticides that were more harmful.
I always get those mixed up.

But the myth is that eco friendly food is more healthy. People really do believe that and think a more eco friendly diet is better for you.

Kind of what I do. Combined with regular exercise (I jog at least 5 times a week, do other workouts like stretching and such. School let's us use a lot of the workout stuff in the gym as well) I am probably one of the healthiest people I know.

If you want something easy, you might just cut beef out of your diet for a few weeks and see how that does for you. Beef is full of bad stuff for you, supposedly.

Best advice I can give you is...

    1) stay away from ready meals. Yes,I know their easy, but they contain a lot of salt, fat and...wait for it....sugar! You are actually better off eating fast food,it's healthier than the ready meals from the supermarket.

    2) Don't try to change your lifestyle overnight....it will never work.Better to change one or two things and go from there, and change more later on when you are used to the first changes.

    3) Use common sense.....don't believe everything people telll you. I suggest you check numbers 1 and 2 on the list to be sure.....you never know.

Find a sport you like and start getting into it. Exercise is so much easier when it is something you enjoy rather than just going for a run for the sake of losing weight. It is when you start going for a run to help get fit for the sport you love that you know your on the right track.

I do recommend squash though, one of the highest calorie burning sports around.
