    It has been stated by many people (including the great bird himself) that he was giving the enterprise and starfleet the feel of a military ship and a naval service. So much so it was modeled on the us navy.

    A warship is armed and ready to fight if needed. This is what the enterprise is. She was not the Pacific princess. She should look Spartan. Even the refit Connie only had large windows in a couple of places.

    ship of the tos tv show did not have windows. why? it was do to the time. it was harder to light a room with widows that look out into space. it was not like it is today. were you can thow up a green/blue screen and put in a space as twe can today.

    even when the the first movie came out in the late 70's itwas rare to see a windows on the tos time frame ships. they did that to keep in step with the past ship.

    by the time of next gen. we got ten forward and rooms with windows for officers...

    True enough. But that's TMP/TNG - and this is a TOS interior, 'warts and all'. ;)
