I'm also in agreement over the return of scalable weapons.
I really enjoy using them but having to replay the mission every ten levels is a real kick in the teeth. The content in-game is already extremely repetitive and the feature episodes represent a step towards making content that much more enjoyable. By forcing people to replay them constantly, it does the opposite.
You're being facetious and you know it. RPGs offer level gated content all the time because it's a mechanic that works. Loot and upgrading equipment are part and parcel of what the best RPGs offer. And clearly the developers felt the same.
First, plenty of games include leveling items; usually special or rare loot that you get from quests, just like this game did (and still does, in the case of the TOS Connie, shuttle gear, and the Breen and Devidian mission chains). Second, are you saying you're playing the "role" of an RPG gamer then?
If you wanted to use Mk rated gear and upgrade every level, then that's what Memory Alpha and the common or Badges/Marks/Emblems vendors are for. Judging by the forum response to this change, you appear to be, at best, part of a small or nonexistent minority who feel that the "fix" makes gearing up your captain and away team "more fun" or "better" than getting and keeping nice leveling gear for a toon's whole career. Under the old system you could play the "role" you feel is better without a problem; and everyone else could have what they liked too. Now you can still do what you prefer, but the vast majority of people who loved the old leveling weapons feel they're useless and upgrading them at each rank would be a frustrating chore, which they won't attempt. So the result is that some really nice items were basically just taken out of game. Even if that does somehow help your individual feeling of immersion, I'm pretty sure it's not a fair trade off.
By the way, if your goal was to ruin ALL the leveling weapons, then you missed one: The Klingon City on the Edge of Never chain still gives a leveling Phaser Type 1. Just FYI.
How's about this? It occurs to me that this is not a terrible move, frustrating for some but not all, so how about we pop this into a memory alpha slot? Allow us to upgrade a rare or very rare weapon to a tireless one in exchange for however many samples and a small reduction in damage output, a [-DMG] so to speak.

Want. I like this suggestion, sounds like an appropriate compromise.
the problem with the tierless weapons is that at every rank there are other weapons better. If you are a LT. Com. you can use Mk IV weapons. but a tierless weapon has the dmg output of a Mk III. If you want to be better and competitive against other players, you don't want the tierless weapons. You want the best weapon you can get. This is particularly true at level cap. No one wants tierless weapons for any reason other than to have them. WE don't use them because almost every other weapon out there at our level is better.
One option I liked mentions would be to allow these items to be crafted if you have a tiered version, but then you get into the argument of if you can make some items tierless, why can't you make them all. A better solution would be to have both types as rewards, one that is tierless but does less damage, and one that is tiered and better at your rank. however, you need to make the tierless one unique and one per character. Can't be having you outfitting all your Boff's with tierless weapons.

Actually, don't speak for everyone, because I use my tierless weapons on almost ll my toons. I like the tierless weapon because it levels with me and since it can only be achieved by playing through a long mission, its kinda a pin to have to keep getting it.

I partially, agree the tierless craftable vs noncraftable I agree with. But I don't think they should be unique.
Yeah these need to be restored and soon if possible. When I level up characters I find enjoyment of having to use my teirless weapon or weapons because it shakes the hassle of digging through the exchange or farming to craft something that won't last me very long.
This just seems like another in a line of recent poor decisions. An open uniform that has less cleavage than the counselor's or mirror universe's outfits. Remastering the old mission to punish solo players, there's no reason my science officer couldn't have helped those people, just don't give me the accolade. And I had another before I started this post but I forgot it.
I can't wait for the P'Jem remaster where you can unilaterally hand over the ambassador without any substanting proof and be rewarded by starfleet for it.

That's not really a problem. Everyone knew that they didn't match the maximum Mk level weapon for a given tier, but the benefit of the leveling design and the coolness made up for that; the marginal damage loss (which dwindles to no loss as you approach grade 10) just doesn't matter. The real problem is that now it's more trouble than they're worth to upgrade x5 at every new rank, compared to plain old common or crafted weapons. So they're basically just taken out of game.

Well, I think the bigger question is why Cryptic decided to waste developer time "fixing" something that wasn't broken in any way, especially when there are many other widely known issues that they have not yet addressed. There wasn't a need for any other "options" here; it wasn't broken, so they shouldn't have fixed it. Now that they broke it, the simplest solution is to just roll it back.
I love the idea of weapons that stay with your characters for their whole career. Call it realism, call it immersion, call it a lifejacket in a sea of grind!:D
For instance, I have ALREADY played 'Night of The Comet' 12 TIMES, in order to equip my 4 TOS characters and their BOFF's with the fantastic TOS phaser reward! If I have to play that same mission 12 times again, EVERY time I level-up (48 times in total!), then what is an enjoyable and deeply rewarding experience will quickly become a loathsome CHORE!
If the idea is to encourage us to revisit and replay missions, then this is the wrong way to do it.

I have to agree.
Removing tierless items was one of the "worst" decisions Cryptic has made to date.
Yes they were not the best for each level, but they were special in that you could stick with the one and same weapon all the way through the ranks if you wanted to.
Quite frankly the whole thing is dumb as "none" of the rewards were or are even now among the "best" equipment.
Which makes this whole update completely pointless and does nothing but aggrivate people.

One step forward, three steps back.

There were more important things to do.
If we want to have several rare items identical, it is our problem.
Three words for you "Magic" "Knight" "Rayearth"
