This isn't the first time it has been mentioned where a cryptic employee has mentioned or responded specifically something about V'Ger in the positive light.
Ergo, i can surmise that it is 'in the pipe' or someone wants it 'in the pipe'. Either way at one point it will be 'in the pipe'.
But this time the feds go in first.
I am completely shocked that Dan responded to a V'ger thread. I would very much like to see a follow on episode to what happened at the end TMP. With that said does that mean we can ignore the idea of V'ger=progenitor of the Borg(which I would say is canon since First Contact had the Borg trying to contact the 22nd century Borg) What would happen if V'ger encounter the Borg or the Undine, or even Klingons who probably still consider it an enemy for the destruction of a Klingon battle group?
hmm... well dont think they made the Borg. Look at what the Borg are, Q called them, the Ultimate "user". V'ger is not part of the borg, as an intruder cloud it came into our galaxy from the outside moving inwards, from Klingon space.
Its probably safe to say the Borg existed before V'Ger and that it just came across them. They saw it assimilated it, found its directive of learn everything and built it bigger and badder and sent it on its way. V'Ger probably got the zap and insta-poof weapon and the other advanced un-borg tech from its travels before returning to Earth with its indentiy crisis issues.
doubtful. Remember from above, Q called the Borg, the ultimate user, cybernetic type of individuals, V'ger considered organics as "carbon" infestations. Its creators were a entire planet of "machine like" beings in another galaxy. Spock stated in the movie, V'ger knows entire Galaxies, its knowledge spans the known Universe. V'ger was looking to evolve, the question "Is there nothing more?"
The Borg's main weakness is that they do not evolve, the simply assimilate, adapt and assimilate more. In honest look at the Borg, they do not evolve, they absorb. Thus Q true definition of the "Ultimate users", they use what they can, discard the rest and move on. To V'ger, the borg organic side would be seen as a weakness, and removed in favor of the technical side.
The Star Trek Destiny series of books go into the origins of the Borg, and V'ger was never mentioned. Soft canon or not, it's probably best not to create contradictions unnecessarily.
It is generally known that V'Ger was the inspiration for the creation of the Borg species by the writers, but I'm not aware of any source attempting to directly connect the machine planet that enhanced Voyager 6 with the Borg in any way. The two are not related.
This is currently my favorite thread for obvious reasons
I APPROVE!!
BRING BACK V'GER!!!
THE VAULT WAS JUST THE BEGINNING!!!!
I have an alternate suggestion: how 'bouts if the folks at Cryptic create some new stuff, rather than recycling more of the old stuff?
I loves me The Real Series and the movies with the original crew, including Star Trek The Motionless Picture. But, in the game it is the year 2409. Could we start moving forward?
rodenbury's words where canon if he said that klingons are sniviling babys then they are sniviling babys, rodenbury created startrek what he said was law, not what you say.
Which is why he had little to no control over his own creation after TMP, right? Now granted, he went back to producing with TNG (because he was a fairly good TV producer), but the films from TWOK to TUC all had him as "executive consultant". Basically the guy whose brain they picked for certain things, and then swept him back under the rug. Some of the better outings of Trek - like the three films after TMP - were all written, produced and directed by somebody else, and Roddenberry had little to no say in what went on in them.
Yes, Roddenberry created Star Trek, to which we all give thanks - but that does not necessarily mean he was the best guy to run the franchise. The creator is not always right. Sometimes, you'll find that the best episodes/films/etc. of a franchise likely had little or nothing to do with the guy(s)/gal(s) who were behind the franchise in the first place.

Only if we can get this costume on the C-Store.
Where did you get THAT?
Bond. James Bond.
Aaaaaaaaaaaah!

Speaking of... Doesn't "Trebek" sound like a great Vulcan name?
HS! Do you really hate us all that much
"Kraven Morehead?" "Kraven Morehead?" "Who is Kraven Morehead?'
Hey Dan, if you had to choose between the V'Ger stories, would you choose?
Origin of the Borg? (Star Trek Legacy)
Enhanced by the Borg? (Shatner's novel The Return and the ST11 Countdown Comics)
Or perhaps having V'geri (what I call V'ger's new species), bring an end to the Borg by showing them true perfection?
Only if its to scale.
Champions-sized space zones are in order - make our ships feel puny.
We need to feel like ants that are about to be stepped on
Great! This is where it starts and we're all just organic batteries. Guess who they'll blame? This is all Joker's fault! What a tool he was! I have to spend all day computing pi because he plugged in the Overlord.

WHAT!?!??
HECK NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
OHHHHH, PLEASE NOOOOOOO. That's enough to freeze even a Dalek's soul
That's not so bad.
Canon junkies want this: Capellan warrior outfits, so we can look like a Las Vegas Burlesque show.
Well it would be a good excuse for that new hair tech they have.
Hair tech is being dedicated to the man fro on open uni chests.

With all my blackened heart.
You are doing it wrong.
What the heck is in his right hand... does he wield the Turnip of War?
You have a better way to beet sense into people?
I think I've just found my next role model.
