I don't remember a rule like that myself, but I only managed to get on in the back end of beta. As for spelling: hallucinating :)

As much as I dislike that Cryptic are not, going to raise the fleet cap in the near future, due to technical limitations, I truly understand.
I would like to take this time to thank Cryptic - and Stormshade, for replying to us, over this request. We are all human, and sometimes, we do have to adapt and evolve, I suppose this is one issue we have to adapt in the short-term.

Let us all, look forward to the future together - to the longetivity of Star Trek Online, and the new mechanics, that Stormshade has stated -
we are going to look into, and consider, various options which might help make managing multiple fleets a little bit easier on you.

There is no need for us to get into debates over this discussion, as although we are all trying to aim for 'the greater good', the height of the matter is that Cryptic are looking into, they have seen concerns, and I am sure that in a few months, their solutions will be published. So lets, look towards a bright future, and make do with our current scenario. In terms of Trek - like Janeway had to make do with Voyager when it first became stuck in the Delta Quadrant.

Again, thanks for everyone's support, arguments, opinions, ideas and especially Cryptic's reply - which has brought some hope back. Finally, lets look forward to a great time in STO! :)

To say that we don't care about our communities though?

    That's just wrong.

    Stormshade

The current Featured Series is proof of it. The game is more "Trek" because of listening to the community!

This is just insulting. The people who make costume pieces and character art are completely separate from those who manage systems such as Fleets, Friends Lists, chat, and other social elements of the game.

This is something I keep telling people, but they never seem to get it, or maybe they just don't want to get it.:(

I myself Like to thank cryptic for replying. Not many MMO companies would. To me there activity in these forum mean they care about the game and care about the thoughts of the players. I want the fleet cap raised or removed myself but not if it cause other problems in the game.

Ok....I'll be honest here....I didn't read every post in this thread,so this may have been said already...

How about the ability to 'link' multiple fleets? Linking the fleets would be on 'management' level. Two or more fleets can be run as a single fleet, increasing the number of players that are part of the same group, without raising the fleet cap. This could,in theory, also be used cross faction.....there are quite a few fleets that have a Fed/KDF counterpart. I could even see some friendly fleets form an alliance and use parts of the system, like sharing fleet chat.

seems the community is getting ruder, this is the second dev to get upset over it recently. could it be the newer people are immature? should there be a age requirement?

Honestly, this is how most MMO forums are. The difference is, most Devs dont communicate as much as the ones here, so you dont hear what they are thinking. But if they did, it would probably be similar to what SS's last post said.

It's a sad truth, but yes.

Ok... before this degrades into a thread about who likes boobies the most... maybe we should concentrate on this Aliance system, and suggest ways it could work? Possibly as another thread?

First Stormshade let me offer you and the Cryptic team an apology, sometimes it is easy in the moment to let frustration and emotion over do things when posting to a forum. I love this game and the work you have done to date.

My frustration stems from the fact that while the team has done a great job, especially with the Featured Episodes, the focus has seem to be placed on the single player experience to date. The "fleets" have not seen the same level of loving over the last year that the single player has seen.

Social groups are a big part of making a strong MMO and that I feel has not gotten the attention it deserves. This frustration stems from the fact that a feature promised at start suddenly being dropped, linking into social sites, to STFs such as TD that are still to broken to be truly playable. The push for the multiplayer, ie team aspect seems to have been left behind.

Now again i am not trying to offer insult I am stating a frustration that I know many people feel.

I mean looking at the featured Episodes, which are great and you have even added a little to make multiplayer mean a bit more in the game but the real multiplayer content has not changed, been added to or even fixed in a long time now.

To see another feature aimed at the groups take a hit was just a bit frustrating. I do understand the technical issues that can get in the way. I also appreciate a company like Cryptic that is willing to discuss these issues openly.

Again I wish to offer an apology to the Cryptic team for any insult they felt from my post.

It's all good. :D Everyone gets frustrated sometimes, and the best of us can and will say things in the heat of the moment (This is why I like to write responses to angry players in word or notepad before posting to the forums. It forces me to rethink what I'm saying before I "say" it). It's also why I occasionally run into Stahl's office to give him an infraction. ;)

Please try to remember that we have several other things for fleets on our plate right now, including Private Fleet Action Queues, and a new Integrated Voice Chat Client, a Possible Territory Control PvP Game, and other things are coming.

For now, I'm going to close down this thread, as Brex suggested, I'd love to see suggestions about what other things we can do to improve the fleet system, in another thread.

Somebody start it. We'll make sure to read it.

    Thanks,

    Stormshade
