Prefer Rod Stewart to Russell Watson, m'self - diff'rent strokes an' all that...
As for 'Enterprise', I always felt they could have made more of Dennis McCarthy's fantastic 'Archer's Theme'. The version with Scott Bakula reading the classic opening speech always makes me go all "soggy with nostalgia" (to quote Tom Lehrer!):
I agree Ace. I would love to hear some trek tracks from the movies and series. Would make for a very nice touch, and fit the theme of making the game 'more trek' perfectly.
Wow. I always liked that song. I had no idea it was considered fo Enterprise's Title song though. It really doesn't fit at all. What were Rick and Brannon thinking with those two songs.

Enterprise was a little too ahead of the curve. It was developed before the the big "Geek" boom on television and thus they were really trying to "mainstream" the show as much as they could. They didn't even call it "Star Trek Enterprise" at first, just "Enterprise"
In todays culture, being a geek is much more acceptable than a decade ago. I think Enterprise wouldn't have been so watered down and things might have turned out a lot better.
JJ Trek movie is a pretty good example. While its still guilty of some "mainstreaming" they weren't afraid to be geeky, and it was much better Trek.

I agree. Enterprise could have been a whole lot better. That being said JJ's Star Trek could have been better as well, though it was an improvement over Enterprise. I definitely feel that JJ's movie is a step in the right direction to revive enough interest in Trek to justify a new show. I'm hoping that after the 2nd JJ movie, there will be enough support for a new show. I just hope that whoever they put in charge of it doesn't TRIBBLE it up. I don't want to see it too mainstream. I really think they need to take the best qualities from each pf the show's and movies and mix them together inbto one new Trek. Below are key elements that a new series would need IMHO:
DS9's War Elements and Large Scale Battles
Voyager's Familial Bonds and humor
TNG's Exploration and humor
TOS's Exploration and humor
Space battles in the style of Nemesis, but with the higher special effects budget and faster paced action of Star Trek (2009)
Additional ideas that I like:
A post Nemesis setting
A war setting in earlier seasons with an Exploration focus after the end of the war in later Seasons
A Captain that is very young and has been forced into the role early due to a high neccessity for Captain's due to the war
An older enlisted crew member that at first resents the idea of following such a young Captain, but eventually warms up to him and becomes a mentor of sorts
More main cast aliens from species that have never been in a main cast (Andorian or Bolian perhaps)
Q
A comic relief character, but one that is not overused

Heres where the original audio came from. (the vid says it is Fanmade, but it actually came from the official site shortly after Season 4 started airing)
I still remember crying in disgust whilst yelling at the TV when Enterprise first aired. I fell to the ground kicking and screaming, then settled into a steady tremble in the foetal position dribbling, one eye twitching.
I'd love to hear more Trek music in the game. The two i want most is DS9 theme when entering orbit of DS9 and on the Klingon side the classic Klingon theme song from Star Trek IV The Voyage Home.

That "other' p.o.s. they did for the show.....I'm not given to hyperbole but...KILL IT!!! KILL IT!!! KILL IT!!!
Also, I saw some interview with bragga where he comments on the bad feedback they were getting about the song, so he thought to "jazz it up" and make it "bouncier".....dumb %^$*
Does this mean were getting Star Trek "Style music" or actual themes tunes. We so need the TMP/TNG theme. That is the most iconic theme of all time...well that and the Doctor Who theme.
random Star Trek music and themes from all of the Motion Pictures...suiting to what is going on in the action, have 3 or 4 pre set themes and music to play, at the moment the music in game, is what only like 3 tracks ? (correct me if I am wrong)
yeah, the original (best) extended verison in STAR TREK 1 (TMP), when those 3 klingon ships in the beginning, take on V'GER ! (bad idea, lol)
Have you noticed though, that theme, as every motion picture has progressed, the theme gets played for less n less time.....I cite, when compared with, TMP, Then First Contact with Worf in the defiant, then, a little bit of the theme in INSURRECTION, when worf whacks the probe with his rifle, then even shorter in NEMESIS, when worf is shooting at the remans ??? , next Star Trek movie needs a good klink scene, with the extended klink theme as in TMP:cool:
They were going for Star Trek with a different feel for a different era. It was the only thing I liked about their decision to do a prequel series. This song threw me at first, but then it grew on me.
I'm not like a lot of people here and other Trek venues. I do not come into a new incarnation of Trek predisposed to hate it just because its not what I am used to. I have enjoyed each Trek series because I look at them as parts of the whole while being individual and unique unto themselves. No two trek shows follow the same exact approach to the same exact premise. But the overall theme of them all remains constant.
Music has always been very important to me in terms of Trek. It is the soul behind the action and drama. The Enterprise theme, when taken in the context of the scenes of technological advancement, actually fits.

*snort* "A decade ago" was right after the dot.com boom, a time when venture capitalists were willing to throw money at anyone with a cool new e-toy and a website that might, some day, be profitable. Geeks were the heroes and success stories of the turn of the millennium, before the bubble burst. I clearly remember a cartoon of a rather round fellow in Klingon leather lamenting that a year before, he could have had anyone in that room killed. (His skinnier, glasses-wearing comrade tells him to forget it and come ogle booth babes with him.)

There's a good version in the end credits of ST:V.

I'll see your Rod Stewart cover band version, and raise you the original intended title track (and one they used in tons of promotion:

I realised that Star Trek on TV was at an end.
Uhm.. it does that already, right when you warp in.
indeed:(
They should have done this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfWgU1fj3nM&feature=related

Jerry Goldsmith's Klingon theme is mandatory.

I'm very excited to hear some new music, it adds a lot to my enjoyment when I'm not listening to SubSpace Radio (or the other Trek stations).
Would definitely love some great Klingon themes, there are some truly awesome tracks out there for Klingons.
Jerry Goldsmith ... genius.

Oh that is hot.
That's amazing, thanks for sharing! Added to my STO playlist... Qapla'
This is a favorite of mine ("BIRD OF PREY") but always on the lookout for even more epic Klingon sounding music.
The new rickroll?
EB
Sweet! If there is any way we could get the DS9 theme added to the DS9 sector.... epic!

Music is a very big part of the experience [of Trek]. It has always been the extra character on screen.
Perhaps, considering the licencing agreement for the IP includes everything from the series/movies etc that the music could be also used.
