Iphone / Ipad :-
Core data miner finished, pulling all data needed from site and logging in user to get info needed
Android :-
2/3 way finished dataminer, pulling most data from site, logged in user is still a bit patchy.
ETA
Iphone / Ipad :- 1-2 weeks (will be sending to cryptic to get a final OK just to be sure)
Android :- 2-4 weeks, still on the learning curve and also working with honeycomb for a tablet version at the same time.
Also if i get some time would ppl be interested in using the app as an information base (mainly ipad / tablet) for maps, items, crafting, missions ect...
I throwed this idea around a few times earlier when people discussed the possibility of multi crewing a single ship in STO. It is just a little modification of my app. Noone showed any interest at all.
Hmm, I'd have thought more people would be interested in this
My idea was to have 1 BIG monitor as main screen.
Think projecter.;)
3 stations (1 eng, 1 tac and 1 sci) that would be mapped to command 1 power bar row with the matching skills.
The Eng would call the engineering powers and allocate the energy.
The Tac would fly the ship, control the weapons and call tac powers.
Finally, the Sci would do, well, the science stuff. He/she could be able to use the online combat log analyzer, to beef up his position.
Plus the captain with mouse control.
I'd have piloting be its own station w/joystick conrtol and mini stasks for ramming/evasive and speed throttle. I'd have the captain have the PC keyboard to "overide" and Boffs asleep at the wheel.
This, you can do already with my app. It doesn't sport minigames at the moment, but they can be added.
Who knows, a good crew may even be more efficient then a single player.
For the mini tasks I was thinking something simple, quick, and w/blinky lights to help in immersion.

Appreciate some feedback
What is it your making. A lite app where your sorting inventory, selling on exchange, etc. or are you creating a fully playable STO app? Do you have any screenshots?
I've been working on a STO app in my spare time and have managed to get most of the exposed information working, ie
Email
Friends
News
Events
Server Status
Tickets
I am curently working on the My Account section and hope to finish off later this month.
As for sorting inventory, selling on exchange, etc that is not exposed by Cryptic for good reason and your dreaming if you expect a full game client for a mobile device.
To do what you are asking would require hacking the game client and I don't think Cryptic would take too kindly to that.

That sounds great. Looking forward to seeing it, and I hope it gets an OK from Cryptic.
As for an information base, that would be really cool. I usually use STOwiki for that stuff, but having extra quick access to certain things would be nice.

I already have an app on my smartphone that can do all that. It is called Opera browser and I doubt Cryptic would object.
I don't really use it thou, because the emails are auto forwarded to my exchange.
Friends and events does not interest me when I'm AFK. Server status, again I don't care if I can't play due to being AFK.
News don't update too often and the ticket status seldom updates at all (save for canned responses).

While I can do most of that with Opera too, for some reason I just can't select a ticket and read the responses. It would be nice to do that from my iPad since I have had to use the ticket system a little more recently.
Though, yeah, if I can get an app with an even easier interface for me to work with (I.e. Twitter on Opera vs. Twitter for iPad), I'll take it.
Yes the interface is the realy fun part, now that the iPad 2 specs are out I can finish the UI design as I don't have to worry about making massive graphics assets for the possible retina display (planned for max possible 2048 x 1536 res).
As for the Inferstructure, the app will localy save all read data for viewing offline if nessacary, ie all the news headers, release notes headers, mail headers as of last login ect...
Also attempted to put the map on the iPhone today, BIG MISTAKE, will have to work out a better way to present as the full map as wayyyyy to big to navigate properly on the iPhone screen, may have to put that part on hold for time being.
If all goes well I will be sending a beta of the app to Cryptic late next week for feedback and hopefully approval (copyright and licencing issues arising from movie and tv franchises can be a real pain in the TRIBBLE.)

Really looking forward to getting this app. Thanks Saje for working on this.
Please do remember that solicitation on these forums is not allowed. Since this discussion is moving towards the purchase of non-Cryptic / Atari products, I'll have to close at this time.

Because it truely is hard to do so on an iphone
BTW, i appreciate the effort you have put into it.
Really looking forward to getting this app. Thanks Saje for working on this.
