What I think is crazy is that, when you compare the ones made now to the ones made 25 years ago, the ones now look like even they have got caught in the Barbie unrealistic-body-image circus. It's... bizarre. The ones now don't look like ponies. They look like... I have no idea what they look like. They look weird.
I have to wonder if you're all just looking at the character's or actually watching the show? It's very very good, with character personalities rivaling some of the best cartoons I've ever seen. Almost all of the main cast has both possitive and negative attributes (though, mostly possitive, since they're supposed to be good rolemodels for the younger viewers, after all), and most of these presented in a very realistic way. Nopony is picked on for being 'too boyish' or 'too girly' wich happens unfortunately often in alot of cartoons aimed at young girls, these days.
And beyond that, there's alot for an older viewer to genuinly like in this show. Lauren Faust (the creator) is well aware of how many people watched the old series as kids and are watching this new one (herself among that number), and is having a TRIBBLE old time sneaking in little easter eggs for us, or jokes that only adults would get, or just little quirks of characterization that are more evident/meaningful from an adult perspective.
All in all, I strongly encourage you people to watch the show. It's a far cry from the half hour long commercials that were, even despite their time, fairly decent cartoons for kids. This is, in a way, My Litle Pony having grown up with it's audience, but still wanting to entertain children as well.

Man, I was singing that before you were BORN. Your brother's a damn plagarist.
If I'm not a fan of My Little Pony, and never was and never will be, then why am I posting in this thread?
Because those small ponies are just as vulnerable and tasty as bunnies.
Your awesome Cappy. You always help me keep my carnivorism at the top of my priorities list.
*Charges after Fluttershy and sinks his fangs into her neck while humming the old My Little Pony theme song.
