A territory control area interests me most, perhaps a whole sector where systems can be flipped between Klingons and Feds, and perhaps even ships can be intercepted. Sounds exciting. :) Something I seriously hope they add, as it would be a great expansion to both PvP, and the game in general. And it would make it feel like there really is a Federation/Klingon war going on.

This thread is a good example of why we will hardly ever get to see endgame content (as per normal definition, aka other things than story missions). Most of those who are still actively playing cringe even at the uttering of the word and will rage, zealot and berserk against anything that comes anywhere close to sounding like, well, something else than single player stuff.

Plus, endgame topics tend to get drowned in the forums by stuff like mini skirt and TOS content demand discussions which all seem to be of much bigger interest to the current community... for whatever strange reasons.

Ok thats a lie that no game has end game. None of you has played lineage???
There are castles controlling territories that are conquerable from clans and when a clan has the castle it gives the clan certain rewards. There are fortresses within territories in the borders of the territories with rewards for sieging fortresses that belong to another clan and so on.
So conclusion ONE open part of the world pvp and fleet generated content through wars is a must for me.

Second in lineage you get to start a new carrer when you reach max llevel to a char BUT the new carrer in nor irrelevant to the main carrer!!! Through a series of quests when you max out the second and so on you give skills to the main char.

Third is that after you have completed a number of quests you are allowed to compete against other players in an Olympiad system that will produce Heroes every week one from each profession For example a hero of Enginners. A hero has certain skills during the time he is hero and these skills are very helpfull to his fleet when fighting against other fleets to conquer areas that will give you more rewards making your fleet even more powerfull in order to dominate in even more larger areas and attract more players to its ranks.

Sorry for the wall of text but the statement that no MMO has endgame is a lie...STO has no endgame and the weekly episodes are a very poor excuse of an endgame

agreed the best endgames are territory war based, but developers for some reason insist on avoiding sandbox content like the plague. It makes no sense because the only MMOs doing well without harsh churn next to wow are the ones that embrace sandbox style conquest.

    Ok...forget the term "endgame".

What do you do once you reach VA and you have a cool ship loaded out? You don't want to shelve him and do an alt, right? You worked hard and spent a lot of time getting to the "Picard/Kirk" level and you want to play as Picard or Kirk. So, here's what you do...

    1) work on your diplomacy. Are you an ambassador yet? Kirk and Picard's adventures contained tons of diplomatic investigations and first contact missions. So, go do them and earn your diplomacy xp.

    2) STF's. Yeah, they can be buggy...and difficult. But, they are there and they provide some entertainment. Enjoy.

    3) Badge/emblem grind. Sounds boring? It is. But, every once in a while I just like to do some exploration dailies because THAT'S WHAT STARFLEET OFFICERS DO! Try to have fun with it.

    4) Fleet Actions. This is one where I'd really like to see Cryptic make improvements. Add things to the fleet actions that get players involved. Better rewards? Scalable content? I don't know...but, the Fleet Actions have a lot of unused potential. They should be fun and they should be things people want to do day in and day out. Right now, it's hard to do them because not enough people participate.

    5) PvP. You're not a PvP'er? So what. Get out there and have some fun. I'm not a PvP'er and I do it once in a while. It's a good change of pace. There should be some nice PvP rewards. Right now - not good enough.

    6) Episode content and Foundry content. The episodes are a blast and there are 3 missions you can currently do from the Foundry. They're good missions. I can't wait until the Foundry goes live. There should be a ton of fun things to try out.

    7) Grind mats. If you craft, go do those exploration missions and get crafting materials. You've already loaded yourself out? Fine...build things to sell or to give to your alts.

    8) Reinvent. You likely have a ton of badges, credits, and/or free respecs. So, respec your build, and load out a different ship and have some fun with it.

    9) Play Dabo. Win holo-TRIBBLE. Hey...it's something...

Now...that's actually a lot to do. But, I still think Cryptic needs to game up and increase it. More crafting alternatives? Get on it. Better and more STF's? Get on it. More frequent episodes and 're-runs'? Get on it. And, I think open PvP zones with PvE quests inside of them that can be interrupted by PvP'ers would be a lot of fun.

STO and Cryptic's MMO approach actually has great potential for the end game many have already said: territory control, with both PvE and PvP elements. Something like this:

Open up a beach head endgame.

Open up a new sector with x planets. Neutral race/aliens in all or a few of the planets, while the rest have resources or what not to be had. Turn on PvP switch. In PvP, you go into the mission instance if an opposing faction is queued up PvP ensues, otherwise random alien PvE encounter or what not. When you defeat the fleet you set up ground operations (again, PvP queues, etc.). This happens in waves to accommodate the fact that this is an MMO; say hold or win the planet x times and it's "yours" (i.e., defenses for your faction gets established, which are NPCs that opposing factions can then attack).

PvE wise, set up missions that sway the planet one way or another. Special teams that blow away strategic bases or help infiltrate a combat team, etc. that will give bonuses to the planet going one way or another. Diplomatic corps talking to heads of the neutral alien/faction to help sway them to one faction or another.

You can also include a public quest system in PvE to say subjugate/neutralize a neutral/alien race on the planet to gain control of it. Public quests like seen in Warhammer Online and now Rift.

Very very roughly, say a successful PvE nets you 1 pt. and a successful PvP for a side/faction nets you 3 pts. Then whoever reaches... I don't know just throwing stuff out there 150 pts. gets the planet. What ever bonuses the planet gives you is applied to the whole faction now (produces new type of energy that gives you a neat weapon or something for your ship until you lose the planet, etc.).

How do you deal with the disparity between factions?

Star Trek universe has a lot of options to it. Very basically, Q pops by and says I'm bored let's even things a bit and (at worst) resets the sector (all neutral again). Give achievements to those who aided in winning the "previous iteration" of control. Or cycle the races. Fed wins sector, Undine sweeps in takes over everything now it's all neutral again and everyone tries to establish a beach head again, except it's now Undine flavored neutrals; after that, Borg does it... after that, neutral aliens do it, after than Iconians....

I think that would produce some end game content, both PvP and PvE, both space and ground.
