Possibly. But then again if I had $300,000 spare, surely I'd put it to more worthwhile prospects....and give it to Japanese animators so we can get a second season of PaniPoni Dash?

    No, I would not.

A real space station, though, that would definitely be worth it. :D

If it's as good of a business venture as some of those people claim it is I would consider it. I mean supposedly the next most expensive sale cost just over $100k and that guy is making $250k a quarter. That's quite the profit and more than a worthy investment assuming what they say is true.

It's still stupid as heck. But seriously it could very well prove to be a very profitable business.

This guy should be stuck in a mental ward. Who buys a virtual space station?! What if the game goes bust? "Oh I used to have this space station that I paid 330k for, but the game doesnt exist anymore..."

I don't need to pay for a space station, I already own ESD. That Ferengi Merchant in Club 47 sold it to me the other day. ;):p

at first glance no I would not. However I dont have $330,000 either. However he said in the interview that if he kept it stocked it would earn him more PEDs which can be turned back into real money, so if he is popular enough and enough wealthy people play it could turn into a nice investment; but that is a big IF.

Anyone who pays large sums of real cash to "own" virtual property needs his/her head examined.

Now before anyone gets started, in MMO's like STO we don't actually own anything, we just rent/pay for the privilige to use it. :p

I don't have to pay you to dock on ESD now, do I? If so, I'll go hang my hat over on K7. :D

Excellent point! Alas my paltry income prohibits space station ownership, virtual or otherwise ... :(

This is pure foolishness...ok, I realize that the guy from the second news piece made 500k+ dollars in the process, it's only that I can't understand the reasoning behind it...it's almost as if people are trying to imitate the movie "Surrogates" but with the current, limited technology. Some years ago, I remember for example Second Life being "the next big thing", people spending awful amounts of money to buy stuff and even some singers having "Virtual Concerts" over there.

Sounds silly to me, and if there was a nerdiness race being held, I would be starting at the top of the grid...
