It's a Shame.....

I think today was great day for STO, I don't say much on these forums because I am not a social type... but I have to say whats on my mind. I read what the doom sayers post all the time, is STO gonna make it? Fee2play this free2play that....blah blah blah... this overwhelming demand should be vindication for this game. I think the weekly series are what will set this MMO apart anyway. After all, that's how the shows are anyway, but that's one mans opinion and we sure have a lot of those. I do believe that they should dream up something unique to do when at max level like the weekly's, something that doesn't require me to set aside a day to do and meet up with 5 people... anyway to get on with my real point...

I felt ashamed and embarrassed when reading a lot of the things people wrote today. Shame on all of you who called into question the competency and dedication of the members of the development, management, and support teams. These people must have come back just for the one year and this episode, I just don't understand how they could all be so blind and angry. They have no idea what's been accomplished or they just don't respect it.

I wasn't here from the beginning, I'm coming up on my 200 days, just after season 2 came out... but I sure as hell see what's been done and what they plan to do.

Well, valid thoughts there and I think most here would agree with you. There's a lot of yelling on the forums every time anything changes (or doesn't change). Ten Forward doesn't really have most of that though. We only get one angry thread a week or so. I think this topic would be better off in maybe the Star Trek Online Discussion forum -- the one with the sticky about "real life threats"....

Yeah, 10F is more of a petting zoo. Come here to make friends and socialize.

Good call... I figured it wasn't really contributing to the game at all but just a personal feeling, but your right it should be in the other forum now that I re-read the titles. I thought 10F was a "Everything else goes here forum" Who ever can move it, please do.

And please don't take this as an angry rant... just a sad disappointed one. :) It is meant to be a show of support for these guys. Especially since no one likes to leave their wives and children on their day off to put out fires and take grief from customers on top of it.

i agree with this. i too was pretty disgusted by some attitudes. sure the situation sucked and people expect a certain level of quality but this is an mmo and crashes happen. a lot of people decided to take the time to become experts on servers and mmos and vent their angry and hatred everywhere.

now time for a dance party.

    *hands out party hats*

heh. Yeah... People returning for a single mish is the worst generally.
(bonus points if it is a lifer)

As a monthly apparently I should have quit the game long ago.
I can't even play the game at the moment because of shoddy connection. (But I yell at the actual problem here). Still subbing.

Also kinda glad my connection is wonky. Man did you ladies have fun when the new episode went live. :p

"Be sure to take a shuttle so the romulans won't notice you...."
-100,000 shuttles fly over to a romulan base, descending like a swarm of locusts- ;)

It was a Stealth mission, so Starfleet sent in 10,000 shuttles. The Romulans sensor net can only detect 10,001 shuttles or more.

I've long since given up on expecting reasonable discourse in the main STO sub-forum, so I don't even bother going in there. Really, it's best for your sanity if you do the same. On that note, I have to give the devs massive props for descending into that madness every single day to have "discussions" with the people in there and do what they can to address grievances.

But, fact is, they're gonna be mad in there and complain, no matter what happens. I even made a satirical comic once that was OBVIOUSLY intended in good humor, and, even though the majority of people loved it, I still got complaints/insults thrown at me by people who thought I was trying to insult them.

Still not as bad as some of the Warhammer forums I've been to, where I've seen people, with complete seriousness, wish grievous bodily harm and death upon the devs for "bad" fluff or rules. (Though, if that's happened here, which wouldn't surprise me, I haven't seen it)

A sad, sad statement is that it should need such a sticky.
