I am coming from World of Warcraft, you may know that already. The thing is on my server there we have a very lively RP community and I am wondering if that is here as well. If not then what could we do to foster a RP community? I mean if we promote Rping in game then we could maybe help our community to grow.
So any ideas on how we could go about doing that here if need be?
No, we have an evil RP Community dominated by would be archvillains, communists, Grimdarkians, the many children/clones of Kirk, Picard, and Janeway, and Federation Carrier Pilots.
The players in this game are divided into fleets. The fleets advertise elsewhere on the forums. Some fleets specialize in RP. Some fleets get together to have massive RP events. They're around, you just have to know where to look.

I appreciate the joke, I am just trying to be a productive member of the community. Feelin' kinda lonely in the big open....empty....space I adventure in. lol
Also, I saw in my last post that RP is hard to find, so I was hoping to maybe see if other members were looking to change that is all.

...who said I was joking? I was being as serious as a clown having a heart attack.
Try Quarks Bar on DS9. They will hook you up with the goooooood stuff.
Unfortunately, good RPers in this game seem to be few and far between. Ravenstein was not kidding - I have seen a lot of Captain Kirks/Picards/Janeways/Siskos/etc. or people claiming to be related to them, a couple Grand Admiral Thrawns or people who claim to be former Jedi/Rebels/Imperials/etc. who were deposited into the Trek universe by some kind of dimensional warp, several Doctors or people claiming to be Time Lords, and at least one Captain Jack Harkness. Plus all the variations on "Enterprise" as a ship name (since you can't actually use "Enterprise", apparently), the names of Star Destroyers (Chimaera is often used by the Thrawns, though it is a cool ship name regardless), and of course "TARDIS".
Look and you shall Find, there are Serious RP people out there, and those that bend the rules just have to keep on looking until you find a group that suites you
i liked these previous KOTOR games and wonder what the upcoming one is about however though i am more interested in AC:Brotherhood when it comes out on PC.
as far as STO RPers is concerned? i havent seen any good ones over the weeks i have been online with this game.
i guess there could be a few, but it depends if they wish to come out of that hole they are hiding it to get a few more members that may wish to join them... but thats upto them.
If RP is that hard here, then I am not looking forward to the MMORPGs coming out like SWTOR for RP.
As I said, true RPers - people who don't think it's "stupid" or "nerdy" - are few and far between. It's sad that people only see the "MMO" part (which usually entails level grinds and gathering gear) and not the "RPG". I often get mocked in WoW (five year veteran - I've seen it all, heh) for actually taking the time to type full words and sentences, proper capitals/grammar, so on. Usually with the admonition "this aint a rp server lol" (and usually spelled in that fashion), since I play on a PvE server. Couldn't really get into the RP servers for some reason, and I'm not sure why.
As for RP in STO, I have only had one decent RP interaction in this game in the year I've played it, and it was two days ago on Earth Spacedock. Couple people were outside Club 47 observing the party, commenting on all those who had suddenly been turned into Hortas/Undine/etc, and talking about all the people who tempted fate by ****ing off Q. I think we were also discussing the child/niece/etc. of a couple of them, and the antics she seemed to be getting into. *chuckles*

. . . . . So reading ads in the fleet recruitment page is hard?
