Unfortunately for me, I celebrated most if it with an extended day of work... But when I got home, GAME ON! Ahem, I said GAME-ON!. WTF, server's still down.
Don't get me wrong, I love the game and the upgrades and modifications that are constantly coming along. I do think a slightly better approach could have been taken with this patch. When you're going to celebrate your one year anniversary, you don't take the servers down on that day. This patch should have been implimented last week, special features could have had a time delay until activated, or perhaps had the servers down all day yesterday and game back up at midnight... I don't know, but something better than celebrating your one year anniversary with a solid day of down-time.
I took the quiz on all four of my characters, then leveled one from Commander to Captain and the other from LT. to LeutComm using the XP bonus Q was nice enough to give me. Broke in my long-awaited Flyer, cut its teeth on some Borg with a little Fleet Support keeping me from instantly imploding and dieing.
one of the few times in a very long time I found myself looking forward to playing and I was not disappointed.
I got to spend it with no Internet, because that massive class 5 devilstorm we were suppose to get turned out to actually be ANOTHER red herring by the meteorologists. Despite the whole red herring thing, my ISP apparently can't handle a couple inches of snow because it went POOF yesterday, and hasn't come back since. Been over 24 hours now. So I am currently stuck running off a Verizon broadband card, with no mouse but the touch pad (wireless mouse ALSO died on me yesterday.... Yes I changed the batteries). So I missed all the shenanigans.
After a 3 hour download and waiting another two for the servers to come back up, I did my Daily B'trans with my Tactical Caitian, then visited ESD for the festivities. After that created a new Science officer made to look like a Grey. Went tthrough the tutorial with him, and then had him visit ESD for the fun.
I sent all five of my characters to their respective home bases to participate in the fun and games. Spent most of them trying to get Q to turn them into hortas (only the Vulcan was successful - go fig).
Well, with my internet back up to snuff, I am glad to see that some of the stuff (Q-uiz, fountain of shame) are all still there so I can participate after the fact. Like the new ESD.
I celebrated by unchaining the hookers in my basement and playing Meat Cleaver tag with them...
But anyways. I then spent the better part of an hour making my Caitian do what is best described as a seizure in the fountain... gold farming has hit a new low
I think I had homework Wensday in addition to church. Checked out ESD with my Sci then went to bed Wensday. Thursday, went to ESD with Picard and Iaeger, and disconnected my external hard drive with STO on it. May reconnect and cover my Klings and my Tac, but that'd be the extent of me participating in the anniversey and ingame for some time.

i will be annoyed if the event and the ESD are rubbish
Just speak to Q and do something to annoy him. It's quite funny
new Q or TNG Q?
It's the new Q

..while stranded for a week in Pittsburgh, PA because of snow
..on my poor 2.0GHz 13" MacBook, which can barely manage 25 fps on the lowest settings
Dedication?
Or nerdiness?
You decide.
Regardless, I'm thankful that the devs worked to surprise us, and actually put effort into the celebration.
Happy Anniversary!
