Its the snowpocalypse!!!

Grab your guns and canned food! We're all gonna die!

BUT THIS IS AWESOME...

Where do you live and how much snow did you get?

i'm outside Chicago and we've got drifts up to 5 feet tall in our back yard. Our car is buried over the roof and the National Guard has closed every road and declared a State of Emergency. THIS IS THE SNOWPOCALYPSE AND IT IS AWESOME.

Lol I live in Vancouver Canada and there isnt any snow here currently. We did have a few inches in November but that was about it. The rain washed it away ;)

I'm just outside of Muncie, IN and we're getting the ICEPOCALYPSE. We've been getting sleet/freezing rain since mid-afternoon with wind gusts around 30mph. There's about a quarter inch of ice out there now (on top of a couple inches of snow). By tomorrow morning we're supposed to have about 1/2 - 3/4 an inch of ice covered with an additional couple inches of snow. We haven't lost power yet, but that's expected sometime tomorrow morning. Hopefully I'll get to log in while STO's anniversary celebration is still going on. Last time an ice storm this bad hit we were without power for four days. Frakking Breen....

    Stay warm, bro.

I live in Massachusetts and we've gotten easily three feet of snow over the last couple of weeks. My Neighbor had his roof collapse last week! It was a mess! Now with this "historic" storm on the way, we're all a little nervous here! I'm wondering if I'll have a roof over my head after this week!

We just made Snow Ice Cream. It was awesome.

    -1 gallon snow
    -1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    -2 cups milk
    -1 cup sugar

Mix and then add milk to consistency. Add vanilla and sugar to taste. It is awesome, especially if you have kids.

Get creative, crush oreos (cookies n cream), peanut butter, strawberry jelly...have fun with it.

The point isn't to get Baskin Robbins icecream, its to have a fun snack that tastes good.

I have had back to back blizzards once a week, they always hit on days I have classes for a course I would very much like to finish.

Add to that the little issue that it isn't melting, so there is about three and a half feet plus the mounds left by blows sitting pretty at like eight feet (no joke, I got pictures of them sitting higher than my lift-kit equipped SUV)

I'm tired of seeing white, dead trees and the depressing gray of an oppressive New England sky.

But you know the worst problem? The ice maelstrom out there has caked my sat dish with a layer of 4-5 inches of solid ice, so not only am I stuck in here away from the ice... but now I have no TV and the server remains down for at least two more hours.

But I'm not selfish enough to say I'm the worst off by a long shot. The accident I got called to yesterday... now THAT was bad. and it really just goes to show one the cost in human carnage when Frosty the snowman goes rogue and turns his deathray on us.

I believe it. I remember last year when we had the big storm in February seeing huge mounds of snow all over Alexandria, VA and Southeast DC. Mind you, this was after a storm that dumped three feet of snow in an area that usually sees maybe half a foot to a foot of snow on average every winter. The hard part was, when digging the car out, finding places to put all that snow - not to mention that the melt-off refroze practically every night.
I'm tired of seeing white, dead trees and the depressing gray of an oppressive New England sky.

Not much better down here in Northern Virginia/Washington DC. This time of year I forget what sun looks like and get a little cranky.

Hence another reason I will never get satellite. :/

Just out of curiosity, do you have any DVDs/Blu-Rays?VHS movies? Does take the edge off cabin fever a little.

I've said it before, and I've said it again - people just don't know how to drive in any weather - no matter where they are.

Upstate NY, less than a foot... heck, less than 6 inches total, and school's been closed for 2 days now! What, is the district afraid to let kids go outside now??? They cancellee my kid's midterm when there was NO SNOW AT ALL!

I live near Cleveland in Ohio, and we had really bad ice storms last night. It sucks 'cause they're telling folks to stay at home if possible. Oh well, I guess that just means I get to enjoy anniversary day with all of ya when the maintenance is done. :)

Hey! Another New Englander! And I thought I was the only one around here. I'm from Randolph. How about you Lance?

About 3 feet on the ground at this point. And, it's all being coated with ice as we speak. I love winters like this. Not being sarcastic either.

That "finding places to put the snow" issue all but shut down the city I am nearest to, and lets not even talk about what happens if you need to get into New York. The tunnels and bridges go into lock-down the second it gets to be like 4 inches deep

Yeah, I know. But you don't have roofs collapsing by the dozens daily. We do.

Meh, Satalite is well and good and usually clears up pretty fast. Beyond that, Comcast is the Devil and I will never pay them another dime. As for movies, yeah I got some but I've watched them all a few times. Thinking about just playing TF2 for a few hours

You ever seen what you get when you cross a municipal plow, a Jeep Wrangler, and a Snowmobile with two occupants? As of yesterday, I have.

I hope I never do. However, I have seen how some of the snowmobile drivers act up there (at least, around the Albany, NY area) - riding around doing "wheelies" straight up in the air. If the New England snowmobilers are anything like that, I'm not surprised that they end up as "chunky street salsa."

I've been supremely disappointed with the winter we've had here in the DC area. We've gotten barely more than my folks in Atlanta have this year. Now Archy may disagree with me on this, but last year's Winter in DC was Awesome!!!

I have IPTV, which seems to be working OK today, but more importantly I have my trusty video server with several terabytes of moves/TV shows (including ALL of my Trek) and a media PC. :)

So long as power holds, I may just marathon some Trek while I wait for STO to come back up.

An apt description that last bit is.

And frankly, I, nor the investigators could make heads nor tails of how the hell it happened.

out in west texas for me, we have about 2-4 inches in places where I am at, and the country roads are slick but not really the main roads. Still since i live in the country and hate driving on ice I took the day off, convieniently on STOs Bday and my firends, so I get to party all day long if the servers ever come up.

Yeah, a white, fluffy nebula that is preventing me from going anywhere. The drifts around my house are too tall for the stupid snowblower, too. Ngggh.

Just posted on our local Freecycle mailing list:
    Offer: Snow - Gurnee

I have a ton of snow to offer. There's plenty to go around. It's already outside piled up in my driveway. Bring a shovel.

    Thanks.

Iowa here--only one to get to work today in my office, mainly because I live just across the street. My front steps were completely clear after the blowing last night, but the drifts made me glad I carried a shovel with me to the office. :)
