Create a second PWI account (if you don't already have one). Create another character on your second account. Pass lead to character. Freedom!

A kind of work around would be to use the coordinates assistant. Fly to the set waypoints on way to the exit. Another thing would be to take on a one man army quest and just use that to AFK fly to the NPC which is in the first town.

I am on just fine. If there were going to be scheduled maintenance / patching, there would generally be a notice here on the forums.
