  • You can make any combo work really, I do a lot of duoing with a barb for example. A second veno would be pretty convenient though. The additional healer will let you kill some bosses that you would otherwise need a herc or a squad for.
  • It takes more time regardless of attack speed. All bashes and herc skills have been timed to 1.5 seconds (FR was never timed). If you look at my chart, you'll see the wanderer has the advantage with one skill. The scorpion however gains more from special attacks than the wanderer does, so when spamming enough skills (2 in…
  • I've cut my pet bag down a bit, mainly because I'm sick of keeping pets leveled, and I've noticed I don't really NEED to be using the most optimal pet in every single situation. That said, here's what I'm currently using Herc - Main tank Nix - Air tank/dps Dark Wanderer - indoor dps Marksman - puller/range tank Ethereal…
  • Hmm? I've had a herc for well over a year.
  • I can see that point, but I thought the opposite to tell the truth. The guy with a +12 weapon in your squad speeds up everyones runs at whatever they're doing, or can increase your own guilds TW success.
  • If a good barb wants me to tank because their wallet is hurting or even just wants to have fun and be a DD for a mob or two, I have no problem with it. What I do have a problem with is when it's suggested the herc tanks to lower repair costs (especially in a BH which is one time a pet should never be tanking for efficiency…
  • This is nothing new. Just look at plat chests from the cube, people are perfectly happy and willing to spend 4 coin in order to make 1 for a large prize but only spend 2 coin in order to make 1 for a moderate prize (plat vs gold chest). If anything, I would think peoples addiction to gambling would push the price of gold…
  • I have 9 pets, all of them are using 4 skills, each skill is at level 5. As I leveled up I always kept all of my pets maxed out from level 40 on. My opinion is that in a squad a veno's job primarily consists of killing something as quickly as possible. Not having skills maxed out in order to squeeze out every point of…
  • Four things you may want to consider: 1. Train Ironwood, it's a good way to start each fight, atleast until you can start running pierce on a pet. 2. Change 1 point of str to 1 point of magic so you're doing 1/1/3 per level. The reason for this is that in order to use current level magic weapons you need 3 mag/level. That…
  • No pets are needed to play a veno. To actually excel however there's a decent sized list of pets you do need, and it varies a bit by level. Is the wanderer a 7 on the growth chart? I thought scorpions ended up higher because they were both 6's, but if those numbers are right I guess it is a 7. I guess that's what I get for…
  • 1. It's the same formula so it's easy to do. 2. I'm not so sure it's crazy. The only two pets to routinely use only one damage skill are a herc and phoenix. Other pets such as magmites, glacial walkers, shadou cubs, and whatever else, regularly use more than one skill, because of the aggro. Even two skills would be good,…
  • Well, some progress on what I've done. I used nix stats to create a table of base attack rather than calculating it. The reason for using a nix is that due to the level 1 tame I don't have to worry about attack loss, and due to the 1 attack/sec I can remove a variable from the attack because the base attack would simply be…
  • I came up with a new idea so I'll try it tonight, if it works out I should be able to use just one formula for every pet and have attack within 0.2% (1/10 the margin of error it currently has). The idea I've got isn't as elegant as I would like, but it will work for now I suppose. However, I still think the way to…
  • FR is largely a PvP skill. If you're using a pet for PvE you want to go with bash. The problem with FR is that while in theory it does more damage, in reality it doesn't because it's bugged. The damage over time portion of FR is subject to level modifiers for mitigation. When you're fighting something with low enough hp…
  • I checked the pets in my bag and compared them to what you have. Herc - level 98, 3098 for both Nix - level 98, 4752 real 4751 for you Marksman - level 97, 3620 for both Scorpion - level 76, 2496 for both Armored Bear - level 84, 1470 real, 1469 for you The other pets aren't listed on your page.
  • What tweakz posted is the attack sheet I have, though I'm not sure if it's the most current version. Here's the version I have, this time I hosted it on my own server so the download doesn't disappear. http://www.evilgamer.net/utilities/petstats.xls In addition to that, I have a sheet with various pets at different stages…
  • I haven't checked the boards lately but I've been back to the game for a little bit now I came back 2 months ago, quit after 2 weeks, came back again recently... we'll see if I stick around this time. I still have the spreadsheet I believe so I'll put it up again soon. The formula I have isn't 100% exact but it gets within…
  • The skatefish is better if you're not customizing skills. If you are customizing them the sawfly is better. So it really depends on what your end goal is. If you plan to get a nix eventually go with the skatefish. If you plan to just use a common flying pet go with the sawfly so you can get some more out of it.
  • Perfect is the word I would use.
  • It's decent. My spreadsheet lists them as herc, vairoce/pollen/pup scorpion, dark wanderer, crystaline magmite, volcanic magmite, arachnoid/inquisitive/lithic scorpion, glacial walker, seamonster guardian. The advantage the scorpion has over a magmite or wanderer is pretty small and the difference really comes down to what…
  • A Veno on DW has done the timed boss solo. A squad would still make things better though.
  • Rising Tide made two new winners (loser?) in that category. The Gnome Tombthief. It has the least useful growth stats of any pet out there, below average skills for it's level, and too low level to even be fast. And the Iceprison Wraith, again worthless. The super spreadsheet of omniscience lists them all. The runner up…
  • Except from what I've observed the range is more like 2%-4% if that. Accuracy isn't all that important of a pet stat.
  • The reason for that is the devs seem to have used a formula and then rounded/truncated numbers as they've seen fit. It's probably not all that hard to get table values rather than calculated values, I would just need more pets to work off of, and they would need to start at level 1 most likely. It's within 2% on everything…
  • http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=558682 The spreadsheet knows all, sees all, and hears all.
  • This isn't quite correct. In PvE pet dot are affected by level modifiers, meaning the followup ticks from ream are reduced. On a ? boss they're going to be reduced to 25% damage, so FR5 will do base (100%) initial damage, followed by 3 ticks of 200/3*.25 or 16.67% damage, depending on how the game rounds it would be 16% or…
  • Repair cost remains the same too I believe since item values with and without +endurance are the same. So, you would also have a cheaper repair on the item. Still not useful though.
  • Well, the examples you listed are fights where very few ae's should ever fire, and the ones that do are weak. I would argue it's the responsibility of the casters/archers to be out of range of the strong ones, and use potions to cover themselves. The presence of a cleric doesn't mean you can slack on your own survival. On…
  • Disproven, that you choose to ignore the figures earlier in this thread is your problem. Ignoring facts is one way to still be able to argue though. Veno's are expected to have legendary pets really, that said... they're a very small expense in the grand scheme of things. I hardly think they're worth counting against venos…
