You have to spend money just to open the Chest of Coins which only give you 1,000,000 coins anyway.

Wondering if pwi think's people are that dumb and would spend 5 gold for a perfect hammer to open a chest of coins to get 1mil coin back b:laugh
Not going to answer that question b:laughb:laughb:laugh0 -

Also, when gold in the Auction House was worth around the 100k area at the start of the game, it wasn't a bad idea.
It was meant to help grow an economy at the start of the game, but at this time the economy no longer needs that stimulant.Dreams are just dreams...

In other breaking news, all television broadcasts in the United States are switching from analog to digital transmission. If you don't already have a digital TV, it's highly recommended that you go and get a digital converter box for your current analog TV.(Insert fancy image here)0

when i started playing gold was only 100k. so buying a hammer for 500k was a profit of 500k.
then r9 in the cash shop came along and someone bought all the gold in the ah and jacked the price up to 1.5 mill. people blame packs for gold prices but they had verry little to do with it.0 -

That lasted about a week at best when the iron hammer/chest of coin combo got introduced. Then gold went to 190k-210k because people aren't stupid. Gold hovered around there til packs made it shoot up to 450-600k. After that it started creeping up further as packs stayed around. Being able to buy R8 via packs and the eventual introduction of R9 (as well as the old cap of 1mil being raised) served to contribute even more to the prices going up.
So yeah, packs did have something to do with it. Quite a bit, honestly. b:chuckle(Insert fancy image here)0 -

not sure what server you are on but in dw those 4/500k price jumps were temporary while packs were out. then gold would go back down untill the next one was released. when they became permanet the price jumped up to a steady 3-400k. a few months later r9 became avalable in cs. littraly 10 mins after server maint that day one person bought the, roughly, 5k gold and jacked up the price.
this went on for about a month untill people started putting gold into the ah at a price that made trying to exploit the ah for profit like that negligable at best.
so no, packs had verry little to do with it. b:pleased0 -

I thoroughly agree those packs did a lot of damage considering it only took two token of best luck or something like that to get 10 mil in game cash couple that with people with mommies and daddies credit care or people who could afford spending thousands of dollars on this game. While there are a lot of variables like how often one would get said tokens out of x number of packs opened, but for easy maths sake we'll 20,000 could afford to spend $1500 just for packs and say they each just got the 10 mil 1 time that's 200,000,000,000 in game cash flooded in in a short time and we all know $1500 would net you more then just 10mil it'd be considerably more again number are not accurate just an idea of the impact of said packs0 -
you can make fun of op as much as you want, he is completely right.
this and many other items are horrendously overpriced. the value of tons of items have never been readjusted and countless items have the pricing based on the economy of pw-china not ours. so the most useless item ever, one might jokingly argue, is the pwi staff. :P0 -
Only way to fix this is if they lower the price of hammers to say 25 silver or 5 of them for 1 gold
heck even at 50 silver each or 3 for 1 gold would work...
But...I wouldnt hold my breath0 -
The most useless item today is Pickaxeb:chuckle
For those who still have one from toons made before Eclipse Expansionb:chuckle0 -
Um... you people don't seem to understand what the actual function of chest of coins is. They're not there to be valuable for us as players. They're not there based on China's economy either (China already had enough economic issues as is for unrelated reasons at that time). We have chest of coins and the perfect iron hammer purely as a way of creating an artificial floor on gold prices with the side effect of it being a gold sink on those occasions where someone who doesn't know any better wastes their money to open one.
From the very start the chest of coins/perfect iron hammer method had no way of letting chest of coins have any value to players. The very concept, in and of itself, makes it impossible. If gold is low enough that you can profit from opening the chest of coins, people are going to buy up the gold that's currently there for easy coin AND people aren't going to sell any more gold because why would they bother when they can get their coin tax free from the hammers. When the price of gold, quite naturally as a response to this, gets higher than the profit from Chests of Coin, people aren't going to open them except out of ignorance because they can just sell the gold directly for a higher profit. Quite literally the only thing they do is assure that gold will never fall below 200k. A means of allowing PWE to directly control gold prices on a whim regardless of any current economy.
Saying that the price of the hammers should be lowered to 25 silver? All that would do is cause the value of gold to instantly be 4mil minimum and then anyone who looks at the items would have the same complaint about how it has no use. Hammers and chest of coin have use, sure. Just not for those of us who play the game.bloodedone87 wrote: »The most useless item today is Pickaxeb:chuckle
