Buying mats for 1 coin:

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but I'm just curious why people bother trying to buy mats for 1 coin each. Nobody in their right mind would fall for that. They can either try to sell their mats at top coin, or even sell their mats to the more than 1 coin. I just don't see why people try to buy mats for 1 coin, even if their value is 15k and up. I'd rather sell my own mats for a good profit rather than selling them to somebody who decides to try to buy them for 1 coin. IMO, it's a complete rip job, and I personally hope nobody's stupid enough to fall for that. I'd rather spend more time getting more for my mats then selling them for practically nothing.

I'd rather NPC them for 500 coins than sell to a cat for 1 coin.

Probably this. When my faction was gathering materials for a base I set up a shop buying stuff like subs and emblems for 1 coin so people could easily donate instead of finding me and trading all of the time.

Also there is the scam factor.

I remember some shops on south archo that where always buying MOGS, Excitement/Ecstasy Cards, COGS, SOWS, etc. for 1 coin, all of them on massive amounts. Also those shops usually are the ones selling more expensive items. b:laugh

heres what factions who are buying mats for faction should do instead of saying buying mats and then having them be 1coin each they should call there shop faction donate or something like that so pple know they arent scammers.

As others have said, its a faction thing. Many factions do this.

When I set up a FSP shop I often will have it buy fsp coins at 1 coin each so I can pass my shop more without needing to swap screens, take the shop down, trade a number of alts, and set it back up.

I was going to say exactly this. No one expects anyone to buy the mats for 1 coin, but it makes it easier for your farmer to give mats to your shop.

Whatever the reason, its not a scam. A scam is something underhanded with an element of subterfuge, not just advertising to buy something for under market value.
