Rank gear: Bind on use?

From time to time you get reports of people who "accidentally" NPC their rank gear and want it back - then get rather snotty when support tells them they can't/aren't allowed to do that. There is a simple way to put an end to all these issues: Declare all rank gear "Bind On Use". Since rank gear is tied to the class, not tradeable and not account stashable, there's no reason not to do this... It saves the rank gear users from having to buy a seperate binding charm.

It would prevent people from losing their expensive rank gear by accident, and prevent a few support cases. It would also eliminate a potential "scam R9 from the support guy" scenario.


[Edit] Another solution is to add the "Cannot be sold" attribute to the gear.

    You're right but then people will NPC emperor or whatever.

    What would be a nice addition would be the possibility to buy back anything that has been sold to any NPC during a certain period (one month ? one week ?). Maybe with a little fee like paying the double of the sold price.

    I think even one day would suffice, but it is a good idea and something that has been implemented in other MMO games for quite a number of years, even before the days of PWI.

    Buyback would also be an option - but keep in mind that people tend to sell several hundreds of items each day (if you vacuum and NPC most **** that drops that is). And the comparison with Emperor doesn't hold. Emperor in it's base form is tradeable, and can be intentionally traded. It is also not irreplacable, if you lose one you lose a crapton of value, but the thing CAN be made again on the same toon. With rank gear that is not possible.

    You're obviously right.
    I was proposing something more global but didn't say your initial suggestion was bad.
    Rank items are not tradable and can't be dropped on death but for whatever reason you can sell them to NPC while having no interest to do it. So yeah, it shouldn't be possible.

    Or just buy a bind note and bind your gear. I did that.

    Watching this thread. Seams to be 50/50 on this one me thinks.

    Should be "unable to be sold" Would you have any reason to sell this Gear?

    You know, it's kind of ridiculous that you can't sell dreamchaser gear, whish is free newbie starter gear. But you can sell r9rr, which is endgame. b:chuckle
