Purpose: At least a temporary place for me to write down and share what I've found seems to work, if at least a little bit, with the Duskblade class.

Establishing Credibility: I have a level 40 Duskblade on Archosaur.

What is a Duskblade & Why Should Thou Chooseth It?:

Ever see Asuna in Sword Art Online? One-handed rapier, in PWI it's called a saber, that provides very very fast swings which lead to very fast kills? Duskblade is essentially the same thing. It can't really be compared to any other PWI class except "BM with less HP and more mana." The more balanced approach of HP and mana allows duskblades to, in my humble opinion, DD a bit better in squads than BMs as their chargess, correct me if I'm wrong, seem to do as much or more damage as a BM's charge and they have a lot more methods to use to quickly escape aggro in a pinch. It's not as sneaky-beaky as an assassin but it's not to be taken as light and feathery either.

Choose this class if you like absolutely RIPPING through small mobs in PVE in a lightning quick manner. You can hold your own in dungeons for a DD role. I don't PVP so someone else will have to test it in PVP.

Character Skillls & Powers:

I and a couple of other duskblades (DBs) have found that the following skill point assignments tend to work for DBs:

Pure Dexterity: 5 Dex >> 4 Dex + 1 STR >> 5 DEX >> Repeat 2nd levelup
Dex/Strength: 4 DEX + 1 STR until STR = 54 (or 55, depending on how you gem your armor)
DEX 3 + STR 2 (experimental): Appears to hit harder and have higher PDEF, but criticals are your best friend with this class so this allotment format is debatable.

LA recommended here. As a matter of fact, after Celestial Vale, it doesn't even give you the option to select reward armor for any type but LA or AA so I strongly recommend LA.

*: No magic necessary I THINK. It is indeed a melee class and you get plenty of mana to perform the majority of your moves arsenal. Granted that mana potions will always help to have on hand. :)

**: No vitality necessary. The class is designed for the HP to be balanced with mana. You're not as squishy as you think.

((^ Random duskblade photo found via Google Images because Lightshot APPARENTLY won't work for me in-game and I'm that noob who doesn't yet have the hotkey - if there is one - for in-game screenies down yet.))

Comment(s): Seriously...duskblade is like exactly what Asuna's combat role was. @_@

Anywho, I just felt like writing down some combinations of skill alllotment points just to get at least a temporary newbie help thread up. I don't plan on using your forum too much. The game immersion is what I'm here for; NOT writing explicitly detailed guides. Take the information I've provided; correct it and expound upon it. Maybe some day very soon, my info will (hopefully) be incorporated into someone's official DB guide. Pax tecum sirs and madams! :D (Latin for "peace be with you")

Um... that pure Dexterity wouldn't work. Yes, the g15 saber only needs 54 str (Looked at Nirvy Forges. g15 Daggers also need 54 str too.). However, the g15 LA, assuming you want to wear any armor at all, takes 104 str. So capping at 54/55 str wouldn't exactly work too well.

For LA (pure dex) = +1 Str +4 Dex

For class build, just reference the other LA Classes for help. (Sin/Archer)

Well, you are wrong in a couple of things, first is, asuna used a sword, not a blade(swords have straigjt blade while sabers have a curved one), asuna then is a seeker(heavy armor too), then, a pure dex build should be 104 str + rest on dex, thats the only way to wear your rank 9 armor, you can make it with tomes and that, but the strenght cant be 55~ish, this, is indeed a melee class, i think this class would work amazing on a warsong squad(finally a light armor class that doesnt look like an aps ready!)is amazing as a support/debuff class

Screenshots in game are with F9..

Uh... I'm sorry, but you can't really compare Duskblade (the most squishy melee class we have in the game BY FAR - even Assassins have more resilience with their buffs) and Blademasters, which are one of the most resilient classes of the game (with their marrows and buffs). They are nothing alike.

Also, as other people said, you'll be able to equip your weapon with your "pure dex" build, but you won't be able to wear any armour like that. You need, at endgame, 104 or 105 dex, in order to equip the last Light Armour set (talking about R9 here). Moreover, your 3 dex 2 str is rubbish: you won't be able to wear heavy armour with it, and you'll just cripple your character. By the way, Sabres' damage scale with dex, not with str (muck like assassins' daggers).

    Last, but not least:
    No magic necessary I THINK.
You shoudn't even consider magic as a choice.

I'm sorry, but I'll be honest with you. From the looks of it, you have little to no experience on the game. Duskblade was your first character and you'd just got to 40 with it. Congratulations, but you still have a LONG way to go. Go learn more about the game first, then, when you feel you've learned enough (believe me, this game has A LOT to offer, it'll take a while), you try to make an informative topic.

rapiers are blades used primarily for stabbing and thrusting...

Sabers are blades defined as having a single edge and are generally curved, so Katana, Cutlass, et c are all good examples.

So far, with my level 73 duskblade, i've found that the typical sin pure dex build is working for me (cap str at 104 /105, everything else into dex). I've found that so long as i have buffs (bell, beast king, blood paint, and cleric buffs) i don't have much issue with just shy of 3k hp doing most instances with support. With my 70 quicksand maze weapon i tend to crit anywhere from 9-10kish to about 20k top end with two spark. Lets take into consideration that the class's primary buff, Moon Chant, works much like a mystics invigorate in that it increases all skill damage done by someone wearing it.

All that being said, The class COULD be built for an aps playstyle, however, it appears to be primarily a skill spam class (its own buff increasing skill damage and reducing crits taken).
