Random Pigments...What happened???

OK before the expansion, I never had an issue getting colors like black or white. White might take 10 to 15 attempts, black on the other hand took 1 to maybe 5 tries.

Now, after the expansion, 500 random pigments and all I have gotten are **** colors like purple, pink, light blue, dark blue, nasty greens, yellows, and tans. I used a lot of event gold and real gold and not one black, not even dark gray. If I wanted to taste the rainbow I would eat a bag of Skittles

FIX IT b:angry

was wondering that too ... in the end i thought i just had bad luck xD Spend like 250 randoms and got only light green, mint and one time purple for pieces that only cost 3 randoms to dye.

No there's definately something different now. All of my fashion pre-expansion has been dyed black or white using random pigments with relative ease. However, after the expansion my boyfriend and I were trying to dye an agents set to black and we easily went through about 600 event gold between us. The best we came out with was 3 pieces of grey and the jacket a very neon purple. b:surrender The closest I saw to white in the whole ordeal was a shade that might be considered a light peach color.

There's approximately 175 known random colors in game, so your odds of getting black or any other pure color are pretty small. In the Black/White spectrum there's like a dozen random colors that appear black but aren't pure black. If you have gotten what appeared to be black or white in a few tries before it was really great luck, and probably wasn't pure white or black.

Im sorry, but out of about 500 tries nothing even close to white or black... and considering it's happen to more than one person. Doesn't seem like simple bad luck, unless they changed getting black or white to 0.00000001%.

This is something that has been brought up in game by quite a few people who reguarly dye items, including myself. Yes they most certainly did change the random pigment statistics with the new update. It's a little sad that something as simple as dying your fashion (which in no way impacts game play other than cosmetic enhancement) is now also all about the $$$.

Careful measurements or our visual system's best performance have been made by psychophysicists. (people who study human responses, like seeing color,to things in the world like light.)
Thay have shown that we can see about 1000 levels of light-dark ,100 lvlels of red-green, and 100 levels of yellow-blue for a single viewing condition.

this means we can see 1000x100x100= 10 million
a computer displays about 16.8 million WOW. realy more then necessary for most situations.

However the answer is not quite simple.what color looks like is greatly affected by the viewing conditions.these conditions include the color of lighting, the amount of lighting, and other colors in the scene.
colors can also appear in different modes when they appear on different objects such as surfaces, light sources,or within volumes.

Different people also have slight differences in the way they see color.

Since we can see at least 10 million colors in a single viewing, condition and the variety of viewing conditions. observer is endless, then only true answer is infinity .

since there is infinity coloers in this world GL on geting yours that you wanted.

i hope this all learn you about colors b:victory

b:sad Dear god i hope not "but honestly would it surprise anyone here that what the person is saying about random dye now is true?

lets face pwi has nerf everything would it be a stretch to Nerf the chance of anything good in this game?

I random dye a lot of fash especially with event gold.

on average 1-15 times to get black to get white 1-25 times has always been my average and i have realy bad luck.

now think of all the event gold i have from several accounts.

today i will try to dye something black and i will tell you if what the person is saying is true.

i will take 1 dye fash and a 3 dye fash and see what i get.

it wouldn't surprise me if its nerfed.

i have been dyeing cloths sense random dye has been around and every time i have gotten a code for event gold all i buy is random dye.

I dyed my new toon's fashion recently and I spent a good amount of Random Pigments. I didn't get black a single time even though I'd usually get black very often when trying to dye fashion...to the point that I was really annoyed by it.

They either tweaked it or we're all having bad luck. Although, not getting black isn't necessarily bad luck. There's people that do not want black so there's that. Most of the time when I random dye fashion, I don't want black or any variation of it.

I guess it's both good and bad..

Same here. I was trying to dye some fash and after like 50 tries any acceptable color I managed to get was dark navy blue(but still the shade of blue was really vivid in it) and a light gray with a slight green shade. Before that I was getting only vivid pinks, violets, blues, yellows and fluorescent green. I even got different shades of the ugly green 3 times in a row! Also a dirty shade of yellow appeared a few times. No blacks and no whites around.
    They definitely nerfed it.

I always prefered random dyes over the solid ones because I like the spectrum of dark colors with weak color intensity(such as dark reds, dark browns, dark greens, dark grays). I was often getting those.
Solid dyes don't have as much dark color choice. Black is too boring and there is no other dark colors between the solid dyes.

It's a little sad that something as simple as dying your fashion (which in no way impacts game play other than cosmetic enhancement) is now also all about the $$$.

After using more than 2k dyes in the past week (nothing close to black), I agree that they DID change random pigments this time. I regularly dye fashion and no, I do not expect black on the first try however, it use to come up fairly often even when I didn't want it. White has always been really rare in my opinion and I don't believe randoms could ever go pure white w/e people may think.

I am wondering if the people who claim to have gotten black recently even got pure black. Almost black or super dark blue/grey do not count in my book.

Something I noticed with this new dyeing is that a wide range of good colors come up more often instead of crappy ones like pea green, yellow, brownish orange. So in a way this could be a good thing if you want a random nice, bright, pretty color. Another note is that RED is still an option. I was actually going for red on one piece and I got multiple shades, bright red, dark red, pale red, multiple pinks too.

It is too bad there is no longer a cheap way to get pure black, but oh well b:surrender

    Happy Dyeing b:chuckle
