Patcher keeps crashing

My SO keeps trying to update, but the patcher keeps crashing at the very end, meaning she has to wait hours for it to try to download yet again. She's tied restarting Arc and her computer and it hasn't made a difference. What's going on and what can she do?

just from my personal experience yesterday, use a wired connection over wireless that might actually help quite a bit (assuming you arnt already)

Also check security software. It's very common for the firewall or AV/Malware scanner to kill the download.

I downloaded just fine without a wired connection, and since we're using the same net, I'm not sure why that would make a difference.

As for Virus/Firewall, why would that only kick in at the very end?

That's an issue that you see commonly in one of three occasions.

    1. Your Antivirus or other security software ate the client.
    2. Your video driver is out of date and in-compatible.
    3. You have a video codec installed that is inserting itself and causing a conflict.

Confirmed that SO had Antivirus off and adjusted and a few other things. Her drivers and such are up to date, too. :/ The patcher just plain refuses to update. Here's hoping fourth time's the charm.

This is really frustrating, honestly. I'm not sure what else to do. What's this about a video codec, though? Could you be more SPECIFIC?

(But yeah, I'm ready to give up soon, too.)
