What is your favorite expansion?

I was reading this thread here: http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1727731
and it brought up a good question.
What is your favorite expansion?
By favorite expansion, I don't just mean the stuff that the expansion added. I mean everything before the expansion + the expansion it self + up to and excluding the next expansion. It doesn't have to be just the content either. You could like an expansion because the economy was better during those days, etc.
For me, it has to be Descent.
- economy was still reasonable, unlike the massively inflated economy today
- f2p can reasonably compete with p2w players whether by farming or by merchanting because mats were still worth a good amount
- gear gap wasn't nearly as big as it is now
- morai skills made classes more balanced than ever
- new players stood a reasonable chance of catching up with the veterans because the power creep wasn't so huge
- didn't have stuff like purify proc and paralysis - i find those two stupid
- stats on r9 were pretty balanced between classes and f2p and p2w
What about you guys?

Rising Tide.
Why? Because up until this day people are still complaining about how OP sins are.
Glorious fish **** they are.
Also, economy and balance were still in place during descent? Was I playing a different version of this game or something?
I know it wasn't as bad as it is now, but it's still was bad. At least from the way I saw things.Soon™

Why people say Rising Call, Crimson Imperium and Chill of Luneska expansions? They are not expansion. Just big content updates.
Expansions are when the name is also change. Between Sirens of War and New Horizons we had 2 big content updates. The name didnt change. Was still called PWI Sirens Of War. And before this new expansion he had the update Chill of Luneska. But the game is still called PWI New Horizons not PWI Chill of Luneska.0 -

Expansion Age of SpiritsPWI wiki wrote:
Released: 5/13/2009

Added
genies. (Many changes were later made to genies in the 9/15/2009 patch.)
Added auto-pathing to quest locations and the "Find Quest" option in the Quests window to find new quests..
Why ?
Because I don't like new classes (EDIT: Assassin and(?) Psychic).
They had started to ruin pwi economy.
I not say, that they caused full crash, but when Assassins solo all things, that magic classes can't or can, but very slow, when they buff melee to play solo without Cleric ...
More, genie is really good help for PvE Wizard, this is why I had selected Age of Spirits expansion.
Edit:
mystic and seeker are almost same as old classes (cleric/venomancer and blademaster, I not say about them - used help of both classes in instances).
About Psychic - just from side of Wizard (you know, all Wizards are selfish when they see more or less powerful mages).0 -

All of them before Rebirths and Cards was great. Sorry just not a fan of cards they would be nice if there placement in to the stack of real stats wasnt in the start they give too much to make a player stronger. Honestly if they was at the end of the stack for stat placement it woudnt be a big deal. Before cards i coudnt solo arma unglitched now i can solo easly on my barb unglitched. Kinda of a game breaker would love to see the plaement of the cards for stats changed. But best one i dont remember the names of it but it was when we got the upgraded mighty true form where sage barbs didnt lose attack in tiger form that was the best update to me ever in this game.0

Every expansion exept the one coming up. I know already I wont play any of the new classes. Because I don't want PWI going in an 'action oriented' direction.0

Every expansion and content update brought good and bad things, to be honest. Perhaps, Age of Spirits is the only one that didn't bring anything negative.
I can't pick a favourite but I have to admit I enjoyed the game a lot more pre-New Horizons, but it's not necessarily just the game's fault. I'm probably just finally starting to get bored of it :P

after age of spirits it was all down hill in my opinion (we just keep getting classes cause they don't wanna make meaningful content). Look at the new expansion another instance for farming r8 **** b:shutup0

While I agree that a lot of content was not needed or poorly crafted, some of what we received has been pretty good. Many private servers attempt to cater to 1.3.6, which is the Age of Spirits expansion. Unfortunately, the servers typically are pretty dead and a wasteland, while many players flock to newer versions (1.4.2+).
Some good pieces of content that people in general, typically enjoy:
-New maps/areas to explore (Morai/Primal, etc)
-New instances (Nirvana, FSP, Warsong, UCH, etc)
-New mounts, flyers, fashion, wep fashion, etc
People do typically have a certain dislike for the re-used instances, re-used models/bosses/mobs, etc. Also, the lack of support for older instances like Nirvana is fairly disappointing. New gear always comes out in each expansion, which often results in re-farming sets of gear and re-refining/sharding. Also, power creep is a serious issue (especially in PvE).
Skills and dalies are an interesting topic. I found them to be extremely tedious. It's one of the only real things to do in the "new" areas of Primal/Morai, and it's extremely repetitive. I was successful in obtaining all 3 skills in Morai, all passives to 10 in Primal, and the additional skill-upgrades in Primal; however, I found this process to be dull. It gave reason to log in each day, but the content never changes. It's pretty static, cut and dry.
Age of Spirits was a great expansion. However, feature-wise, we do have a lot of new things that we don't really think much about in the current client. Auto-pathing, a well-made quest-log, extra features like titles and a guild base, etc. These things are fairly small, but should be noted. Back in the day, if you clicked the quest log, there was no "here are the quests you can go pick up and complete"; there was a button to click for "find quest", and it would prompt you with coords that you had to input manually for the next quest. You couldn't choose the next quest. It was random upon clicking "find quest".
The auto-pathing coords feature is great, and I think most don't even think about the days when we didn't have that. Furthermore, the ability to link items/gear, etc in chats has only been a feature since a couple of years ago. Even things like the quest-tracker, or ability to NPC items, etc has all changed in the last few years.
So, while I agree that there have been some changes that I dislike, AND some things that have been completely ignored, I still find that the current version is better than the original releases of the game. Though, the original version did some things better. It was more challenging in PvE, had a great interface, and always brings back memories/nostalgic feelings for me. I won't disagree that the original releases of the game were great. It's just that some of the newer features are pretty much needed in modern MMOs.I host an Ecatomb mirror here: ecatomb.gdevtalk.net

No, everything added past AOS has either ****ed the game, or been a way to lessen the impact of things that ****ed the game they just look REALLY PRETTY SO IGNORE THE REHASH KTHXBAI. We're literally still in AOS its just the cost to play at endgame is 400x higher and you get to lose to sins after investing all that.
(Account stash and decent autopath were added outside of large expansions expansion just bring UI changes that everyone hates.)Gifs are hard to make work here0 -

Minus half of your post, since it makes absolutely no sense (just constant profanity/filters), I'll say that you are quite ignorant of many features that have been added since 1.3.6. Might want to go look at 1.3.6 again. It's a completely different game, for the most part.
Before you start nerd raging on me, you might be hard pressed to find most changes are really relative. Some people will find them ungodly, while others will be impressed and find joy. To boldly state your opinion is any greater than mine is not only foolish but quite ignorant. Opinions are highly relative and one person may enjoy something you find repulsive.
Just like I dislike the fact that you typed up a post that feels and looks like someone slammed a few caffeine pills and went hard on their keyboard.I host an Ecatomb mirror here: ecatomb.gdevtalk.net

In general, I liked Age of Spirits and Lost Empire most... but I also can't deny we've had a lot of good (granted, mixed in with bad but it is what it is) out of the later expansions.
Doesn't change my favorite, but you have to give the devil his due, so to speak.(Insert fancy image here)0 -

Yes yes I know that Descent gold prices wasn't AS good as Rising Tide, but it was still manageable. I remember that during Descent, getting full NV gears and R9 costed the same per piece (the rep and ring costed extra of course) which was manageable.
I also had to choose descent over earlier expansions because:
- the aps issue in PvP that R9 somewhat solves
- balance between classes that morai skills brought
- having earthguards as a class giving the game more variety
- (personally) I liked the fact that getting R9 simply meant farming enough coins as opposed to praying for a rare mat to drop
- the difference between end game vs all out p2w end game was small. Recall that Warsoul used to be the best weapon. It is a huge gap compared to TT100 or R8 or NV weapon. R9 is just as good as Warsoul, if not better. During descent, r9 became easily affordable, closing that gap.
I'm kind of surprised that so many people liked Lost Empire to be honest. Mainly because I like to mix my PvE with PvP as well, and I didn't feel that earlier expansions were nearly as balanced when it came to that. One thing I'd like to note about Lost Empire though - no one had end game gears during that expansion's era. I wonder what would've happened if it was dragged out long enough for most people to reach end game? If I recall right, aps existed even back during lost empire. What would've happened if people managed to get APS way back then?0
