New Event??????

As the title says, i logged on this morning and saw all over system chat about an event (national lovers day?) at aroud 6 this morning. it lasted maybe an hr then disappeared. people are linking prizes all over the sever about it. but no one can tell me anything about it. there isn't even patch notes for last nights maintnance. There aren't even any forum posts about it.

Anyone know more about it?

Edit: okay i found out more.
quest starts at lush snow at sactuary. (636,565)
must have a male and female in squad (just you 2)
and female must be lead.

edit 2: after a while going thru the lantern making quest you get "weaver girls praise" that you have to give to the tailor. anyone figured out what to do here?

    Hmm, I posted a bit in another complaining about the time of the event, but this would be a better spot!.

    The event is based on the Asian 'Bridge of Birds' tale. Though the quest doesn't get into specifics. (You may have heard of Tanabata, or the /shi-chi/ Festival (no idea how to properly anglicise the name) from the 2010 Karate Kid movie.)

    *It takes place in Sanctuary.
    *PWDatabase lists the quests as being 30+ (note the local mobs are L70+)

    *Primary NPC: Lush Snow (S. end of Sanctuary, look for the bunch of lanterns)

    *WHEN: During in-game night.
    *Seems repeatable once per server day.

    *QUESTS: 3
    *Male quest - Magic Golden Thread (inc. L150/? Mob w/ 777 hp)
    *Female quest - Fly Lanterns
    *Female led F-M team - Sky Lantern Making
    -I think that the male and female quests can be done in squad, they can only be taken by that gender.


    REWARDS:
    Male Quest - (at L76) Tanabata card, 100k+ exp, ??sp (wasn't paying that much attention.) Note that 3 Tanabata cards get you a Title(Best Love). Also the mobs drop Fireworks.

    Female Quest: ???

    Paired Quest: ???


    Hopefully someone else can fill in the blanks?

    I'm not so sure you do...

    Given that I've only read the database about it, don't take my word for this. It looks like the only thing you have to do with Tailor Lien is 'Listen' to the introduction.

    Maybe you are supposed to give the item(s) to Lush Snow? Or maybe it's used in the paired quest?

    Usually the pwdb is pretty good, but sometimes it's just confusing. Let us know what you figure out???

    From what I've experienced, the "Magic Golden Thread" is gender neutral, either gender can complete, and seems to work best if this is completed first. The 2nd part, "Sky Lantern Making" must be done in a pair, One female (lead) and One Male. The male does most of the work, but it has to be only One of each gender and Female must be lead. This should be done 2nd. 3rd, should be the Lantern Flying, which is Female only. If it is done in order, the "weaver girls praise" gets consumed in the Flying process. I suggest keeping the male in squad for this, and choosing the Ethereal Lantern option. With your male partner in squad, you will just talk to Lush a couple times and be done, with the same exp/spirit reward, and without having to fly around digging extra items.

    Now, what has NOT been mentioned here is that, at least on Sanctuary Server, at 8AM Server Time, there is a Public Quest part of this event. This PQ part is completely separate from the female, female/male lantern quests but also involves getting a quest to catch Magpies given, again, by Lush Snow. Rewards for this public quest include gear ink, Holy Pills, and an item that showers roses around you.

    The XP is pretty nice for the amount of time it takes to do them (just a few mins). It varies with your level.

    On a lv 95, its :
    Magic Golden Thread - 245k xp
    Sky Lantern Making - 81k xp
    Fly Lanterns - 180k xp

    On a lv 91, its :
    Magic Golden Thread - 201k xp
    Sky Lantern Making - 67k xp
    Fly Lanterns - 134k xp

    Technically, the event wasn't even supposed to go live. I had to follow up and figure out what went wrong, but after testing, we determined we weren't going to push it live. Somehow, some way, it went live. That being said, we don't have a whole lot of details about the event, but you can find the NPC in Sanctuary at 635, 566

    Well, good luck to getting things figured out Sparkie. And for letting us know that something fishy was going on.

    ...And wasn't this an older event since I think the title has been in the list a while...



    And to everyone else b:surrender to not giving everyone the info they were hoping for. But please if it's a public quest, say public quest. Not all events are public, like the recent Dragonboat thing.

    I thought the rewards might vary, so thats why I mentioned my level there. Do either of the other quests lead to titles? The Golden Thread tanabata cards mentioned the title Best Love - which wasn't quite the same as what I actually got (I'll edit it in after I log in) and has an 'overdue date' which I think might be 'expiration date' . . .


    Now I just wish it didn't feel too weird for me to be a gal playing a guy toon wanting to pair up with some stranger to do this...
