In HT past few days lag has been unbearable b:shocked ping would sometimes jump to 15k and a few other people in world chat has complained about it too, i'm guessing its server since i've tried it with both my home and school internet connections, anyone got a clue as to what's going on?

My ping is fine and has been fine. If it's server wouldn't everyone experience lag?

Glad I'm not the only one.
For me, it's only been the past two days. I'll lag like crazy for an hour or so. My accounts dc, have trouble connecting, and when they do connect, it's for just long enough to dc again. Before yesterday, I had never had this problem, even when other people were experiencing crippling lag and mass dc's.

yeah, past 2 days as well, never before had this problem, Some ppl at wc said that is my net, but I've been playing for 3 years without prboblems and my internet was upgraded last year, and also at my work we have a really strong one, so I know my net is NOT the problem. b:cry

When you have the issue, do the following

    Open your start menu.
    Hit run
type cmd in the box and hit enter.

In the prompt that shows up, type the following:
    tracert pwigc4.perfectworld.com

Then copy/paste the results in a thread about the issue in Tech Support.

Vast vast majority of the time, it's an intermediate node causing issues. Something out of everyone's control. On occasion it might be something on your computer or the servers have screwed up.... But more often than not it's not PWE even if we have other reasons to complain about their service.

On myself the other hand, it say's the server is offline and the Ping of the server is @ 3000ms (Archosaur and so does Heavens Tear) it also show's Lost City and Sanctuary sometimes with the High ping of 3000ms.

    Same problem here...

Haven't been able to login for more than a minute without getting dc'd for the past 5 hours. It says 3000 ping in red text at the server menu on all West servers for me. Idk if it's capped to that specific number in that screen but whenever I manage to get on it's MUCH higher than that. I checked East and Euro servers and I had no issues there. Also my internet is working normally with everything else so whatever is causing this issue it's not coming from my end.

From what I can tell, the West Coast database servers are having intermittent issues. It's like they have a job running that's scanning the user database and when it's working on a certain section, that group of user ID's has a problem.

I sat and ran traces last night for a couple of hours on Sanctuary, Lost City, and Heaven's Tear.

the average round trip time was 81ms. At the very same instant where I am getting a trace of 80ms, I'm getting some clients at 8k ping in-game and some with 150ms.

it started happening about two days before maintenance, got really bad right before maintenance, and then was decent for about 24 hours after maintenance.

It's very obviously server-side too when you can teleport into an instance, chat with friends and faction mates, and everyone, including yourself, can see you hovering in the air for 5 minutes before you finally drop down and hit the ground. if it were a client-side issue, or a lag issue, then the only one seeing the problem would be you, and you wouldn't be able to chat, or see the rest of the squad in the instance. (you would likely be stuck on the loading screen)

You guys know me too, I'm the first to sit here and debunk the claims of lag. I've done a large array of testing and every result I get points directly to an issue on the server farm AT PWE.

Someone screwed up the CRON JOBS settings on server(s), during last maintenance reset!!!

I'm just speculating a logical assumption, based on past personal experience.

ofc it could be any of many logical possibilities!

Looking at your tracert and comparing to mine, it looks eerily like it might only be happening to people who have AT&T.

But as was stated before, anything is possible. I'm still leaning toward something on PWI's end, though.

not really sure what any of this means but yeah my lag also started about two days before maintenance right now i'm pretty much dcing as soon as i log on maybe try a reinstall of both arc and pwi see if that has anything to do with it?

The lag has gotten worst since the last 24 hours. Today I was unable to complete dailies or any other activity because I simply cannot make it longer than a minute without getting dc'd. It takes about 20 seconds for any command to be responsive. Sometimes the news page won't load as others have mentioned and the ms at the server menu hovers between 300 to 3000 continuously (when in fact its a lot higher than that ingame)

And just as I said before... my connection to all other servers except West Coast is intact as well as my overall internet use on the web, streaming videos, or playing other games.

    This is really frustrating.

Can we get GM confirmation that this issue is being looked into?

Basically what it means is that when you connect to PWI, you're going through a bunch of different nodes and it's not a direct connection.

Like when you're on a plane going from Houston to Boston, the flight may not be a direct one, it may stop in Atlanta or New York for a layover.

When you connect, you go out to your ISP, they go through a few of their own gateways, then you find yourself going through a terminal that is connected to many different hosts and then it'll send you out to more gateways until you get to your destination.

Each step in your trace route are the different gateways and their IP addresses.

I'd also like to note, that newer toons with less data and history don't seem to have much trouble. However my higher level toons seem to have more problems. I've tested this not just with my accounts, but with several other people in a variety of different locations in relation to the server.

So far, ALL the data shows an exemplary connection right up to PWE's ISP, and then once it hits their load balancers and databases, we're having the issues.
Basically completely supporting my current standing theory that most likely an issue with the name database servers, and also possibly with internal server communications.

i recently had some computer issues and had a friend look over my computers. he is a networking engineer with Cisco Systems. they fly him all over to work out problems with such companies as Disney, Wal Mart, and so on. he almost fell off the chair when he looked at how bad PWI is. he said one reason for the lag is "memory leak". no idea what that meant even after he explained. but it is something he said PWI could easily fix and would greatly reduce lag. i think it has something to do with when you get the stop light d/c. or you might see a message that you are running low on memory.
OFC we wont see this fixed or even addressed. just like the list of things that have been broken since the start of the game that they are still working on. sigh.
