PWCalc

With the fact that we now have rebirth, cards, nuemas, and other things to affect our characters, is there really an accurate way to show a build on PWCalc? I used to use it all the time to compare different builds and gears but it's hard to do now that it can't take that all into account. Also it makes it harder to ask build questions on the forums when you can't post an accurate build

You can manually modify stats on PWCalc to reflect the stat bonuses from those extra sources, but it's still a pain.

I started working on a new version that could include everything else... but I get swamped with other work way too much to make decent progress.

Same here, I always update my pwcalc char profile after I upgraded my character's gears in the game, and then calculate again what if I add this or that, make it as my next goal for upgrading my char's gears, but it's been a long time since I did that because it's hard to keep track now with all the missing options in pwcalc.

I use my own def mdef calculator, damage calculator, and survival index calculator to keep track of my character's gear progress now. More primitive and less intuitive than what pwcalc has to offer, but it's 99.99% accurate. Thanks to the people who contribute and provide accurate formulas to pwpedia. b:thanks

The main issue with making a good calc is the interface since the actual calculation tends to be pretty trivial. Here is what it would need to cover:

Gear - PWCalc does this part pretty well, might need to be updated for new gear, dumping gear stats from elements.data into a database is technical though. Theres also engravings to worry about and set bonuses.
Buffs/Debuffs - Adding all of these at various levels is extremely annoying, PWCalc excels here too
Titles - Should probably be a small panel where you can add the stats you get... a more advanced treatment would be a panel with 90+ checkboxes for each title but that's probably overkill
Meridian - You can calc the stats from meridian level + class: table here. Could just be one field I guess, there are 80 meridian levels.
    Historic Levels: Just enter 2 historic levels for extra stat points, 100=+20 101=+25 102=+32 103=+42 104=+56 105=+76
Cards: I took care of this one http://aster.ohmydays.net/pw/waravatar
Nuema: Ties slightly with the card calculation.. I explain the calculation here and here. Calc could just have you enter the nuema levels of each slot.

That is, of course, where I tend to struggle. Interfaces are not my thing. The rest is fairly simple -- except for extracting item/addon data, anyway, which was a significant pain considering how many places you have to draw data from (some of which was a real pain to figure out) and having to manually map non-proc addon names to group IDs (some of which are replicated, for no apparent reason).

It might even be easier to scrape the info from PWDB instead... Sweetiebot does that for her gear forging and what not.

I had considered it, but pwdb occasionally goes quite a while without being updating so I ruled that out. I've got a working solution now anyway, so doesn't matter too much.
