BM Or Psychic For R9

I can only afford to gear up one of them. I enjoy both pve and pvp. Not aiming for fancy super endgame stuff, just need a class that is both useful in PVE and PVP.

    What's the point of going r9 if not for super endgame stuff? Seems like a huge waste to me.

    That. This is especially true for Psychics, who will require high soulforce to make the most of their Soul of X buffs. If you're going R9 and beyond, go big or go home. If you want to be all around useful, go with the BM. Everyone can appreciate HF/GS regardless of gear for PvE and whatever else.

    There is no denying that bms, and psys are immensely useful in both pve and pvp... especially bm's... but really the amount of... (watch this video and see just how difficult it is to play one) even harder in mass pvp. (edit) Don't forget that the purify proc has the insane potential to erase what a bm does these days, everything but the new paralyze skill proc.

    Though really if you think you can play a bm like that then by all means go for it. Good luck with it. :)

    Go for the BM. Although there are very few full r9rr sins on my server compared to other classes, and psy with non g12 shards/NW ornies is food for any decent sin. Bm's have always been a class where your get more for less. It's a very cost efficient class.

    Pve yes... pvp no... just no. xD (The amount of chi (yes there is apo/cloud eruption) it takes to play one, the rubbish leaps/bad cooldowns, no real way to truly prevent damage (marrows are a rather big joke) and consistently close gaps.) You do need apo/charms to play one while your working on better gear while in mass pvp, and while other classes obviously benefit from the very same thing, they also benefit more as they don't need them as often. (Though this is mainly for mass pvp, some of it rings true in 1 on 1's, albeit to a far lesser extent.)

    It is also true that they do have a plethora of stuns, etc, but all that doesn't change the fact they are an extremely hard class to play/can be quite costly to get the full effectiveness of one out. (I didn't even mention the purify proc melees especially bms are struggling to stay relevant and in the fray in this day and age.)

    Edit: This game is stupid easy mode for casters who have the gear to both kill, and tank, namely thanks to the purify proc, as well as the ability to just tab and kill, rinse and repeat. (Not to mention mobs do not run from them/it is fairly easy to kill most mobs for most casters well before they even get hit)... Though to be fair bms do indeed have the best counters against this insanely pesky proc, even so they are still ridiculously difficult to play that they are.

    BM. Like mentioned before, Psy requires more of that high end fancy end game to be useful, BM can get away with less to be more useful.
