Low levels making coins

So I just got back into the game recently, and leveling a couple chars to the 40's.
At this point, the combination of teleporting, repairing my gear (2/3 of my characters are melee), trying to level up crafting skills and buying pots is starting to get to me, and quests just aren't cutting it.
I read warrenwolfy's guide, and I've scraped together just under 2m.
I've been trying to merchant on perfect stones, but after a couple hours no one has sold any to me even though I'm by the W. Arch perfect stone area, and buying for the most.
I kind of figured that even if progress was slow, it wouldn't be that slow.
Any advice, or something I've missed?
Thanks

Merchanting is slow, especially at first. IT's not going to be something that's finished in a matter of hours. That's something that once it starts to pay off, it pays off big but it can take weeks. Keep doing that because eventually it will pay-off. In the immediate time though, you're going to need another source of revenue. For that, I recommend talking to jolly old jones and doing his bounty order quests daily. You can take that quest 7 times a day, and he gives you coins that day just for talking to him. You can do this all the way to level 80. At level 81, it becomes unavailable. As this is your first toon, I recommend staying in the 71-80 range for a little while once you get there until you have a decent amount of coin.0

Thanks, I'l take a look at that.
Another idea was using my 48 blade master to use area skills to grind with free charms, but I'm barely making more than repair costs. Are there any good areas for someone that level?
I also have a lvl 42 assassin who I would stealth past mobs in the lvl 19 caves and hope for drops, which was fun, but unproductive (if I did get drops, they were to low level to be worth anything). Is he good for anything?
Also, since I've decided I cant invest the time for every crafting skill, which is the most important one (or two) to focus on? At this point, everything is lvl 2, except smithing which is 3 and a bit.
At this point it is mostly general questions, but there is a lot going on and I'm a bit lost.0 -

You need to think about where stuff comes from.
You see the buy/sell shops for mirages, tokens and raps/cannies. Those shops work because lots of players get those things (BH/packs/NW) while not needing them.
That is however not the case with pstones, you rarely just randomly get those. On the contrary, it is quite an elaborate process to produce them. So it is very unlikely someone is comming to sell those to your catshop.
To produce Pstones, you need to have access to OHT which requires you to be high level not sure if you need level 100 or something less. It is an arduous task to make them so you wont find anyone willing to do it for you. When you do have a toon that can enter OHT, i do advise you to give pstones a try again. Just start buying Tears of Heaven and Stones of the Scarred instead of the pstones and use those to produce the Pstones yourself. (againt look at where those items come from and see that it is best to go buy them near the TT exit during 2x)
For now, you better focus mostly on leveling and getting coins trough other means like venus told you. Keep studying markets though, keep trying other things (mirages, tokens, rap cannies, searching underpriced items in AH), but dont expect to get rich anytime soon, just be happy to get some learning experience so that you will be succesfull sooner when you are level 100 and your budget has grown a bit.
Wolfy also told you that not spending your money is the primary source of merching succes. While that is entirely true, you should first focus on reaching level 100 though. (and spending the money you need to do so) Money simply gets a lot easier to come by when you level up so that is your best investment at this point. (Or you seem to be talking about multiple toons, get 1 to level 100 while you leave the others near level 80 for jolly jones money)
You do not need any crafting skills at all. I would also not waste time trying to farm at those levels. Dont spend money on your gear, you get that free from the FB bosses. Certainly dont spend money on fashion and flyers. Do spend money on teleporting though. It is really not worth skimping on that. Just spend the money you have on the most important skills you need to learn to keep going.
I say it like this because you say you have read wolfy. That means you want to get somewhere and youre not here to enjoy the scenery. If you want to enjoy the scenery of course go buy fashion and mounts and whatnot
PS about merching being slow: Merching is as said not about hours, it is about having a catshop up 24/7. Or at very least half of that. And then the patience. I sold quite some pstones. Sometimes you can stand for days and all you see is a 100 here and there for 1000 stones total sold per day. And then all of a sudden comes someone who buys 20.000 of you. Its the same with pretty much everything you merch. Its a long term thing. In markets like pstones, you should thus also not go fidgetting with your prices on a daily bases based on your recent selling results. You just look at the market, the amount you got to sell and how fast you want to sell it and then leave it be for a week. With heavily competed markets like the tokens you do want to adjust your prices all the time based on what your competition is doing.Everything i write is from PvE perspective unless mentioned otherwise.0 -
There's a few tricks you can use:
- Below or exactly at level 40, you can run the "A perfect spring" quest daily. Completing that and the accompanying prayer quest plus turning in 2 spring plates to the other 2 npcs, gives you 70K. At level 40 that's not bad for a daily quest. It also gives you almost a full level of XP. If you want to get rid of that level, just give the XP to a genie (or make a new genie after the first, decompose the old one if it has crappy lucky points and give/mail the XP cube to a character that needs to level a genie).
- Tiered jolly runs. You can do Jolly Jones on each account for each "tier". Tiers go up in steps from level 31 to 80. I didn't find the quests below lvl 51 worth doing though. 51-60 is a tier (talk to a NPC in DWP, fight pyrogolts or gather the Cabala tone), 61-70 is a tier (Fight Noxtouch Bonemage, gather 5 roots, or talk to 2 NPCs near Arrowhead manor), 71-80 is a tier (Fight Evolved Soulchasers, grind Punica Pulp or scout out Dragonet). If you do quests for each of these tiers, you can make 2 million a day easily. Takes about 2 hours to do on average, and it's relaxed playing. I recommend you use the free eventgold codes to get yourself a 3.0 event boutique flyer if you plan to do this for a while.
- Create an archer alt and use the free Woyn charms and autocultivation a lot. Archers are quite efficient at soloing on autoculti provided they're charmed. Use one of the free Dreamchaser Set codes PWI has been handing out like cookies to equip the archer, use the free +5 with levelrestriction orbs to make the Royal Bow +5 when you get it at level 40. Once you're around level 45, set yourself up around the Sundown Town and make sure you auto-pickup Leather, then sell that to catshops for extra profit (on Morai there's cats buying that for 7k a pop, so a full stack is another 700k). Gathering crafting materials of any kind can get you a bit of extra profit in.
[Edit] @Above: OHT access requires level 80 I believe, not 100. And if you're okay with a small margin, take 10% above production cost of Blemished and Common gemstones for the Crazy Stone quest. That will blow away most the competition in that area. One of these days I'm going to get off my rear and plop a cat down there for exactly that purpose... if only to annoy the gits asking for 16k9 per common stone.I'm so P.R.O... I Press Respawn Often.

OHT can be entered as early as level 70. OHT's daily quest for free tears of heaven, on the other hand, isn't available until level 90.(Insert fancy image here)0

Nice its level 70. So you can start doing Pstones soon. You will like it, its good money for the small budget merchant.
Just buy the tears of heaven as many as you can (25-30k or so).
Also buy some stacks of luminostones and golden sculptures
Go to the forge in OHT, make http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/items/20353 and decompose them at the nearby tailor.
To make them from stones of the scarred (those are more available then tears ), you need to farm bewiched doll however in TT 3-3 to get stamina mats to craft silver chained star. This should really be done during 2x for your margins. If you know some TT farmers who dont do doll themselves, some may well be willing to help you get to the doll safely if you open for them and buff them So you may want to do this when its 2x again.Everything i write is from PvE perspective unless mentioned otherwise.0 -

Would I be able to do anything solo at level 70, or would I need a squad?
Can I even get into OHT before then, and do I need to level my tailor skill for that?
Also, thanks so much0 -

At level 70 you can do your normal quests solo but not your cultivation quests.
You cant do any solo farming. Solo farming comes after level 100 and some decent equipment on a farming toon (APS).
For the Pstones, you only need to just enter OHT, not kill anything. You dont need tailor skills. Youll have to wait till level 70, some quests are needed that enable you to enter. I dont by head know what quests, but it is very well possible that you cant solo them, just like many of your cultivation quests.
Farming bewiched doll in TT3-3 is something that is far away for you to be able to do that yourself. Farming 3-3 in general is something for people with equipment worth about 1 billion coins. Doll itself is the easiest thing in 3-3, so if you find someone who is farming 3-3 or only part of it, he will surely be able to kill the doll too. Maybe give him some pstones for the effort or something Even though it is the easiest thing in 3-3, dont expect to be killing it yourself anytime soon though.Everything i write is from PvE perspective unless mentioned otherwise.0 -
If hay still sells well, the 40s is the best time to farm it, IMO. Antelopes around Heaven's Tear are very doable and at that level have decent hay drop rate. There are other mobs in other areas as well, you can use the in game encyclopedia to find mobs in your range.0

I know your an expert and I'm not so this isn't a criticism. Just pointing out, yellow gear drops from BH dungeons can also be traded for perfect stones, so the poster could steal run bh29 over and over and get some stones that way - provided of course he knows how to reset the cave to get straight back in.....0 -

Yep, but you only get 1 pstone per item Its not even worth the clicking to trade them when you open a dreamchaser pack, let alone running an instant to get them.
If you make them trough OHT gear, you can make some 20.000 pstones in an hour. That is 40-50 mil coins. The stuff you need to make them costs like half of that. So 20k profit for an hour of running between 2 NPCs and an hour to kill doll a few times.Everything i write is from PvE perspective unless mentioned otherwise.0
