Ecatomb: Mirrored & Operational

For those distraught and upset that Ecatomb is closing it's doors, this should be some rather welcoming news. I've worked to compile a fully mirrored and working copy that can be found here. For now, it's pretty much fully operational. In the future, I *may* add to it, and work to combine my own data, images, and information about PW.
Alternatively, I've also compiled a local backup of Ecatomb (from 9-1-14), which can be downloaded here or on MEGA.
It's always sad to see the original website go down, especially considering the webmaster of Ecatomb had been working hard to provide solid data and images since 2007. But, for those that actively use Ecatomb, this can be a replacement for now. I made the decision to mirror the website once I realized that as soon as ecatomb closes, part of this community will sorta be dead.
If there is anything not operational on the mirror, please let me know. Now is the best time, since if I'm missing some crucial section, image, file, etc, I can still back it up from the original Ecatomb website.
Thanks all, and have a great day! b:victory

Yeah, I do plan to update and re-work some things. I may use this thread in the future as a changelog for people to see new updates and what not. It should be noted that I'm pretty busy (and will be for the next few months). I work 30 hours a week while taking 17 credits at College. I'm in my fifth year, lol.
Current plans are to fix the links that redirect to other websites, as they are current broken. This is a pretty easy fix and is only required on a couple of pages. Mainly, the download links Ecatomb posted are broken on the main page (easy fix, as I said), and the outgoing links on the "links" section are broken as well.
Future plans beyond that will include hopefully figuring out how to keep the look/feel + layout, while adding images and data for upcoming fash, flyers, mounts, bosses, gear, etc. It's gonna be a fun project for me -- I get to test some web development skills out, while working for the community and creating a place like the original Ecatomb.
I've considered a forums/chat/shoutbox set of additions for Ecatomb, along with reworking the guestbook. Of course, I will always keep the old stuff archived and up to view for the nostalgia. I would have a section for the archived goodies in a new subsection of the website.
Projects like this are pretty fun and innovative for me. I would love to do this for PWDatabase and PWCalc, but of course, one would need permissions of the owners. Furthermore, I've tried doing personal backups of PWCalc in the past, and the software used can't pick up whatever rendering language is getting the website to work properly. I mean... The website shows up fine, but you can't select anything under the gear calculator (it's completely broken). PWDatabase would *probably* back-up and mirror just fine, one would assume.
These websites are really valuable for us players and game enthusiasts, and it's always a sad day when they close down or become inaccessible. I only pay like $10 USD a month to keep my website running, and I've had it up for at least a year now. Hosting these websites is the least I can do to give back to a community that has for the most part always been there for me when I needed it.I host an Ecatomb mirror here: ecatomb.gdevtalk.net

Nice workbluestuffzzz wrote: »Projects like this are pretty fun and innovative for me.
Wanted to know the data of skill, and an Excel file wasn't good. So I have done the skill page.
Was fun to learn php/javascript.
After that, I made a real website and added other part. I loved the fashion and mount of this game, so was the 1st one to be added.
Remember that: it's the best part of this game, so need to stay updatedbluestuffzzz wrote: »I would love to do this for PWDatabase and PWCalc, but of course, one would need permissions of the owners.
And I hadn't any item's database at this time
pwdatabase is crazy, I tried to do something like that during few months. But the code for my databse page wasn't so good (was only during july and august). But I failed to find link beetween item bonus of items and it's name in file names. Must be in one of the servers files.
Quest part is the craziest part to extract >_<

I was using a little less than 6Go per day for around 5000 visitors (100 000 files and 13 000 pages)
I hope you will have fun doing it like it was for me b:thanks0 -
I just wanted to sneak in to express a warm "Thank you" for keeping this alive! I hope you'll enjoy updating the site, many (silent) players will be grateful for that.World is full of illusions.

I gave up the character page because pwcalc was created and was really better.

Love the history of your website! I'll surely have fun working on it in the future! Haha! Yeah, with my work on the website going so slowly this week, I expected it to get to page three. And keep skill page available for all version.
Good luck if new classes are added ... It's hard to find the data of each skill.
For everything else, do as you want and have fun b:victory
It could be hard to update the fansite, so do it only for the PWI part. Should be enough and easier.
One thing to update could be the fb99, bosses have changed long time ago (and maybe some quest in it)
Best regards

It's really sad that, with the new expansion dawning on us, there won't be new image sneak peaks on ecatomb, nor will there be skill sheets for the new classes.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Its nice to see that the Ecatomb site has been at least salvaged, although there are a couple of broken links in the "links" section.
The links to the Database and Calculator currently don't work, and hopefuly you keep the site going, or make something better.
Ecatomb was my first choice in looking up things for PWI since the offical wiki is seriously outdated and not maintained.0 -
