Hello, I am no one special, but at the same time, I've found myself drawn back to Perfect World again, it's been... ages since I last played, and honestly, I'm so rusty, I don't even know what to do with myself anymore (Less rusty and there's holes missing out of the darn metal!)

I was curious if anyone could give me any advice, or somewhere to at least start at for a reference point, so I could slowly get myself back on my feet.

My Characters (Main one at least) Are a pair of elves, both level 75, one an archer, one a priest. I have literally zero idea of what to do with either of these, characters anymore, nor did I have any idea of what I was doing at the time. (I don't even remember what is vaguely doable.

ANywhom, if you could set me on the right track, that'd be wonderful! :D

Edit: I'm off to work for now, if you could leave me some tips, I would still appreciate it, though I will not be able to respond until later this evening. Not ignoring this, promise.

Finding a helpful faction is probably your best bet at this point. It's nice to be able to ask questions while gaming rather than having to come here all the time.

Learning the character skills just takes practice. Find a mob quest and play around with your skills while doing it. You'll learn what you like best/what works best for attacks on different types of creatures, and this will help you later on.

Squadding for instances is really a learning experience too. For a cleric, the most important skill in a squad is Ironheart for healing, since it stacks. For an archer, you have to learn to control your aggro on bosses so that you don't end up tanking inadvertantly.

In your level range (assuming your avatar is correct here on the forums) generally you'd do available quests, BHs daily, and there is Paperclip quest available if you are bored and want the experience. Some people use hypers and join FF squads but that is a matter of preference. There are also a few weekly events that are doable but if you don't know how they work, once again a faction would come in handy for explanations.

Feel free to PM me in game if you are looking for a helpful faction on Heaven's Tear.

The first thing you'd want to set as an overarching goal is to reach 100. You can start by running BH 59 again and getting better at doing Cleric things (knowing when to IH, BB, Purify, AoE heal, and being able to react to changes in aggro and specific boss actions) As an Archer....its just about managing your aggro as you deal damage. You'll also want to get a proper genie made to support you. Once you're more confident, you can participate in FF runs (usually done in level ranges of 75~85 and so on) with occasional BHs as you level. Be sure to make certain that your skills are in proper shape and leveled.

Once you reach 89, you'll be given a choice between Demon and Sage paths (and a quest chain for the one chosen). Each offers the ability to learn a "Level 11" version of your maxed skills, with different effects depending on the path you choose. See here for a reference to said skills. There are three levels of the Sage/Demon Cultivation: Awareness (level 89), Master (level 99) and Celestial (lv 100)

At Lv 95, you can enter Morai, a new area with its own sets of quest lines and 3 orders you can work under for special skills and goods that each offers. There are also 2 instances there that can be visited called Endless/Advanced Endless Universe (EU/AEU). You'll learn more about those as you finish their associated quest chains.

Once you reach 100, BHs become more diverse (as do their rewards). You'll also be able to enter the Reawakening phase (your character gets sent back to lv 1 with a 4x XP/Spirit multiplier) and also visit the Primal World (think Morai without the orders and its own rewards, skill upgrades, and instances).

Aside from those, there's other ways to boost your stats that don't involve farming gear such as Title Quests, Meridians (see the Meridian Knowledge quest in your available quest log), Nuema and War Avatar Cards. Gear itself is still farmed from TT and Lunar, but its easier to get Nirvana gear from the Uncannies and Rapture Crystals earned in Nation War (2hr PvP events on Friday and Sunday).
Those can be upgraded to G16 versions with the materials from Vile Lunar/Warsong bosses.

    Factions are optional.
    Hope that helps.

If you still want to come back and play. Simply pick a toon and play, make friends, join a guild. It'll all come back to you on how to play this game, soon enough.

As others have already said before me, you definately should find a good & helpful faction to join once you restart your activity on the game (Preferably~1 with a nicely leveled base for it, so you can do their base quests and gain enough merit for your 2-characters to be able to access the factions in-base shops (for pots and etc.))

My suggestion is to go & get your 2-characters recruited into the { PWAcademy } faction, they have a very good leader running them, aswell as alot of active helpful members that all seem to be very good at helping their new fac. members (if those members are truly trying to be good contributing members of their family & faction) and if I remember correctly, they are also recruiting right now and I think that both your characters are within their recruitment level parameters {b:victory} so its best to start with that part first and then ask them about "whats new in the game and as you come to certain things in-game, what you should know about" that should be able to help you relearn the game again, much more quickly...b:thanks

Being a cleric myself i wish you good luck on find that helpfull Faction on Heavens Tear! Its sounds all so nice but I find ppl don't like to help anothers unless they get something back in return form it. Heavens Tear is full R9/S3 which are all demand you be the best in all..........no noobs or squisy ppl allow..........to bad they all forgot how they need to get their gear/weapon. Most off the time the ppl are afk autogrinding ..........Ks is oke. (after all the most bots are high level geared chars). Want to get your gear updated and + : you need a lot of money/gold. PPl on heavens Tears became greedy and price like 120 mil for a piece is oke. Dont expect it to be the nice game where ppl play for fun.......now its all about greed!

If you come back be ready to hope ppl get the message: on how to help out anothers! Watch out for the scammers and get ready to be greedy or you get now where in the end but Daily's.

First off, I want to thank you guys for your replies. :)

Second off, upon returning home and checking on all my other characters (Besides just my highest two) I've found that all my characters gears are gone. (I'm guessing maybe they had some sort of timed event gear?) This seems like it's going to be a mild issue, for the most part in the level 20's areas are the white blacksmith items decent enough to help me get by? I'm extremely out of touch with this game, I imagine so, but still.

Sure, those levels go by rather quickly. However, if it worries you....you can try this code in Arc:
    gVqIRES4
Click on your user name within Arc and choose "Redeem Key" with that for a dreamchaser pack, containing some low end gear and items up to the 40s. It only works once per account, so choose wisely.

Considering people used to use NPC and mob drop gear at those levels... sure, they'll do.

Many of the good ideas of other players have been given so I only add that you look at the PW wiki and start by checking out all the links on the "Quest" page to get an idea of where you are and what you can do. Also the forum may have other info but it is so scattered and hard to find. I keep telling people that the forum is for discussion and NOT for guides but no one listens.

    This looks like a NECRO!

BriarFoxy - Raging Tide replied to a message that was 3 months 16 days 19 hours 26 minutes old.

Any thread over one month (30 days) old is considered to be a dead thread and you're not supposed to post in them. The person you are replying to probably doesn't care any more or can no longer be found on the forums. The topic itself could be out of date. Next time just make a new thread.

Let's see how long it takes for a mod to close this :)

Why? What's the point in mentioning this to someone that posted this 4 months ago? You had to actively dig to find this. Even the last post is nearly 4 months ahead of yours.

This part, I take exception to. The forum is a useful source of information INCLUDING many wonderfully thought out, and written guides. Tools ranging from guides, to calculators, to other useful links are all present here.

I'm even going to take a personal note, and state that as the OP (despite being 4 months old) is a cleric. I'm one of the guide-writers in the cleric section, so saying that my guide, and many others are not where they should be isn't really the best thing to say. The guides are even stickied at the top of each individual section...especially so for class related guides. b:scorn
"Male Player using female toon. Please don't flirt with me."

Need to see the cleric guide for questions, comments, or concerns? Just copy and paste the link.

She's been on a crusade against guides on the forums even though she's completely ignoring the fact that we didn't always have a wiki and the forums have always been the original place to go to to get accurate information and guides. For whatever reason, she chooses to shoehorn her anti-forum guide views in, quite literally, every single post she makes. On top of that, almost every time she posts it's to revive an old thread with answers that are either irrelevant or already given. It's rather annoying overall, but you can pretty much just ignore her, TBH.

Anyways, this is a necro and we know what happens to those.
