How many years left?

Everyone agree's that the game is dying, albeit slowly, so you should enjoy it while you can.
I dont think we should be worrying about it closing in the next year or so. But I have to admit that it felt really significant when they shifted from perfectworld.com => arcgames.com. This effectively reduced their association to PW and demoted it from being their flagship game, to just one game out of the multitude they run now.
But as i said before i dont think there's anything to worry about just right now.--Retired--

Hopefully the limit on botting will help restore the economy some, but I doubt it will do much. Any real "fixes" to the economy will just end up hurting everyone that isn't a cash cow.
The player counter to earning time is to create multiple farming characters.
To counter -that- from the dev end would require earning time to be accountwide.
The player counter to that would be to create multiple accounts.
And there it ends. To counter account spam by players (just about everyone I know at endgame, myself included, ignores the 2 accounts per person rule) you'd need to bind accounts to IPs which would prevent families who play together. Prolly rare, but that's a legit reason for up to 8 accounts being logged on at a time...
Killing autocultivation isn't an answer either. It will just migrate players to custom bots. If that happens and I see any botting around and the GMs still won't step in against that (so far, in the year and a half I've been here, they have not), I'll be the first to find and propagate a custom bot to the masses - equal opportunity for everyone.
What is really needed is a reduction in coin generation from farming. I still feel, even with the earning time restriction, DQ items should -all- drop to being worth one coin a piece. That will kill any kind of farming for coins completely. Then Jolly Jones becomes a good source for coins again, and after a few months when the excess coin is bled from the economy, prices will fall again.I'm so P.R.O... I Press Respawn Often.

On RT the earning time seems to be a good bot reducer. The spider/brave area used to have 20+ bots at all times. Now there might be five. Same with Morai quest mobs. It's become so much easier to do dailies for non ranged characters, so earning time can stay in my opinion.
I have noticed a couple of bots that use third party programs have apparently hit their earn time limit, because each was killing and for a good ten minutes of me watching and I saw no drops or coins lolMalice Leader - Raging Tides

To counter tons of alts, they'd need to kill FCC. Which happened already, so they were a step ahead of the planned route of more alts. And the complaints about FCC shutdown show many are too lazy to play through even with the many easy ways to level relatively quick available.0 -
Personally I despise FCC so I never used it - only ever been in there to check it out, and twice for the title quest in there. Been leveling alts without it without much difficulty. 1-60 can be done in a few days. 60-80 in a week. And from there you start making money from the DQ items, so from there I don't really care how fast the chars level anymore. The various codes for eventgold, platinum charms and dreamchaser packs help a lot too (Dreamchaser gives you a week long necklace of looots of XP - plus a +5 yellow weapon at level 40. Combined with free Woyn charms you can grind for 8 hours easily that way).
My twinks are now approaching level 90 and I'll prolly selfboost them to sage cultivation soon (I always choose sage for botting - free chi is handy to have).
Bottom line. Loss of FCC hyper makes leveling twinks less speedy, but far from impossible.I'm so P.R.O... I Press Respawn Often.

They don't have an official answer.
People HAVE been saying for years "game is dying qq" over silly stuff like having FC, not having FC, packs, r9, whatever. But those are opinions, none of these people work for PWE. Play with your friends, have fun. If the game shuts down in 2 years or whatever, find something else to play at that point.Sometimes snarky, but will always bake you cupcakes.0 -
People say PWI is an old mmorpg, when in reality it is still very young when you realize there are mmorpgs that have been around over 15 years now. PWI will not be one of those games that reaches that age, not unless PWE/ARC/Wanmei seriously make some changes in the way their business model works and the way they implement expansions.
If only based on other games up and coming, my guess is PWI will only be around until the absolute latest in the end of 2016. If PWI continues as is, then you can expect PWI to be closed on it's own merit by the summer of 2015, possibly pushed to that year's end. When the time does come that PWI closes, there will likely be no warning, nor will there even be a server merge. That is based on 2 other games PWE closed back in 2010.
PWE/ARC/Wanmei is well known at this point of being severely pay to win through out the mmorpg player community. I have surfed plenty of other games' and games' listings forums to see that this is the case. One description that many other people agreed with as to describing PWE, was that of a "Casino and Items' Stripmall, not an mmorpg publisher." Another such comment was echoed by a great number of that game's players in the forums of a game PWE was buying out, "R.I.P. ****game's name here****." That is not to say PWE/ARC/Wanmei is necessarily in first place or alone on that accomplishment, but they are certainly at the top of that list.
PWE/ARC/Wanmei need to seriously reconstruct their way of thinking about their business model and how they treat their customers, or it will not just be a game that will be closing in the not so distant future.
PS. @WannaBM, whereas I generally see at least thought put behind your statements/posts (wether or not I agree with them), I am absolutely surprised to actually have read this line in one of your posts:WannaBM - Archosaur wrote: »And when they do close the servers, i think they might still give it to some of the remaining players to let them run it as a private server.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
The game is "dieing" because this is very difficult for new players to come and play when 99% of active players are "endgame" (the gap is kinda huge and with no FC to reborn fast it will now increase). And I must admit that i start to find the game boring during the week (people who know me are kinda surprised by that since I used to play everyday for dailies during a lot of years).

Don't mind me, I'm just cashing out on some "I told you so"'s from when I tried telling people the company wasn't acting like it planned on fixing this game. (unless you call replacing it a fix)
The new update is definitely odd though. As it stands this game is grave-bound thanks to the economy, the Spirit system and the sheer amount of time and difficulty one has to try and reach end-game when starting fresh these days. While economical fixes are always plausible and perhaps the grind will become easier, you'd think they'd comment and say "Cards will be much easier to achieve," yet they don't. New classes won't do JÀCK if those three issues remain, which makes me wonder if the Manager at the top is even sober...I AGOREY0 -
That's how they force people to log in everyday without missing a single one, everything is about dailies in this game. At some point, endgame character will reach the end like for example sky experience, or farming primordial blood, or getting morai skills, the map or instance will become obsolete until they come up with a new expansion.
Before horizon, there was a lot of times when we got nothing left to do anymore and ppl can catch up during that time, but the race is open again with primal world, maybe there'll be time to rest after a few years, but then they'll come up with new idea lol, and the pattern will be repeated.
This game is originated from China where there is a limit for how long an individual is allowed to play a game, maybe that's why this game has a pattern like that, everything is about dailies. I think the hardest time of all was when TT99 is endgame and R8 is super endgame , I wonder how players in China find the time to farm all the mats to make a complete set b:chuckle0 -

That was why I was thinking it was a new game definitely, with console functionality added in to get a larger market with China legalizing consoles. Especially with the launch date of the game slated the day after Xbox launch there.
It's only after finding out Perfect World company has deals in place for making software for, and dealing in the hardware of the Xbox that I could see it being financially worthwhile that it could be an expansion. Because in that case, Microsoft would be subsidizing PWRD in an attempt to get some of the ACU (active concurrent users) to be brought into getting the new console to play it. Especially if the revamp renders some of the computers not able to keep up, they would either buy a new computer, quit, or now get the console to play. And while they get the console, they have all these other games to buy....
So in that regard, it can be financially worthwhile to revamp a dying game, though it might not be focused on anything approaching longevity. Could kill it earlier even, if enough people on china servers get pissed off. Again, depends on the exact deals in place (which are under confidentiality agreements) on whether what may seem short-sighted, could easily be the best monetizing of the game left to the company.
Should be interesting to see what the result is, either way.0 -
I find some of you people naive. b:chuckle
If wanmei makes pwi2 it will be a new game when you all have to start from level 1 again and cash/farm/merch all over again.
They will never transfer your accounts to the new game. Why should they? when you all have to cash for getting end gear all over again.
Its probably a pwi with neverwinter/swordsman engine.
To answer op question.
""they are asking me nor saying that the game was very old and near to it's end""
Yes this game is old and the community is decreasing rapidly.
I was even thinking of quitting myself.
If you play on PVP server the game is not damaged at badly by bots as in pve servers.
Gold is at cap in almost all of pve servers with 100 or 1000 of bids.
Coin value have decreased in value by Half in just a few months thanks to auto cultivation.
Earning time was too late.
I will NEVER EVER Advice this game to someone ever again.
This game still payable for current players but someone starting from beginning will never make it to fully end game unless they cash.
Last year it was possible to reach fully end gear in 1 to 2 years.
Now it would take 4 years.
By fully I mean full JoD +12.
It has become out of reach for f2p and for casual cashers too.Do you want PWI to fix the economy before is to late?

I'm going to give it about one or two years unless they do something hella drastic, tbh.
Gold not being able to be easily bought via AH basically means a lot of F2P people are going to bow out. Essentially, if you're not at least base r9 by the time your server hits that point, you probably never will be unless you decide to CS it. Refines will also be neigh unobtainable beyond +8 or so. Shards will technically always be available via Tiger event, but the price will just skyrocket even more. Cards will basically be settling for A sets. Hope you got lucky and opened Incarcerate as your free S card or in packs prior to.
On top of all that as well, servers need merged badly and I am honestly surprised it hasn't been done yet despite the work that would need to be put into it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Nice images. I'm not sure if they are legit, but they do seem real enough. What client did you pull those from? If it was 1.3.1, I should be able to pull them and replicate it as well. Interesting, though. I guess those could have been created and wiped before getting transferred to Wanmei as PW1 (P2P PW)? Either way, they never did come fruition.
And since that's the only time I've ever seen evidence (mainly because it's impossible to find a client before 1.3.6 nowadays...), how would anyone have known about that? Furthermore, our client has been capped by game game engine @ 10 classes, so there is no evidence in any recent client of those races/classes.
Also, instead of insisting on stating that there were other classes, you should have been upfront and showed the evidence. Otherwise, (since there is pretty much nothing quite like what you posted on most of the internet), people will assume you are trolling and/or lying.

Either way, nice images.
Also, you might want to take into consideration that the current "PW2" expansion is a complete re-design on a new engine, and done by the original developers of the game. The original client was designed for a level cap of 150, and was intended to have 4 more major cities of the size and expanse of Archosaur. But alas, it was never completed, and Wanmei changed the EXP table to compress all the exp from levels 100-150 into 100-105, and then re-arranged the skill levels, cultivation's, and instances to accommodate it.
From all the way back to 1.3.4, the data already existed for the base of the Tideborn and Earthguard races, it had just never been completed by the original developer before Wanmei purchased it and fired them. (And then continued to just **** it up.)
Just imagine what the game would be like if Archosaur studios had been able to complete it years ago...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

They would so risk loosing out on some potential income if they gave us a date on when they plan on closing down for good. They would NOT want that at all.

In all honesty though, the game is essentially dying, even if it goes on for another 5 years, we all are essentially 'dying' from the first moment we take a breath, death is as inevitable for games as it is for humans, granted when someone use the word dying they usually mean its fairly imminent/inevitable. (which the latter has always been true... even the most popular game out their will die off damn near completely, eventually there will be a business decision to cut bait and gtfo of dodge, and the servers will no longer be up for the public to enjoy.)
Sure some games are way past their prime, and are still alive, barely chugging along, but those too are essentially dying, albeit it could indeed be another few years before they die of completely, but when someone decides it is no longer worth it to keep something open/going they WILL close them down, PWI is NOT immune to this, neither are their other games, but as long as it remains profitable enough to keep the servers up, the game will remain online, if you really want to figure out when a game MIGHT be going away follow their stock exchange, if you think their profits... or lack thereof is enough justification for them to close down the game, then don't expect the game to be around much longer.Ah, Mistakes are so easily made. ~ laura resnick
