Chat Lock Bug /w Chill of Luneska Update [FIX]

I have read many posts in which people state verifying your installation files will fix the issues of the chat system locking up.
For those of you who do not know, or are unsure how to verify your installation files follow these steps in order to fix the issue.
If you already use launcher.exe to open pwi by default you can skip the first three steps.

It is imperative that you make sure all PWI clients are closed before verifying your directory!

The fix for this is really quite simple:
  • Open the PWI directory. (Your's is probably similar to this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Perfect World Entertainment)
  • Double-click on PWI_en.
  • Double-click launcher
  • Open up the Launcher application.
  • Click "Verify" located near the top of the Launcher window.
  • Wait for it to finish, then re-start the game!

    I tried this method, it verified all the files but the chat still freezes.

    Confirmed, it doesn't fix anything at all. We'll have to wait on official patch for this horribly annoying bug

    I haven't experienced it personally, but I use custom chat filters, so that may actually be a solution.

    Try this.

    My chat never froze because of the settings I have on it and I've been telling friends to change theirs to settings like mine since yesterday and so far everyone said their chat now works. Deliylah's comment is accurate. At least a temporary fix.

    Thanks for the replies everyone, the issue has seemed to stop for me after verifying. I suppose it isn't a fix that works for everyone! The chat settings theory is quite interesting though. o.o

    Same here. I also run WQ daily and I like to be able to see which book I get next, so I won't remove it. They should just fix the issue.

    For me, chat only freezes after a teleport or entering an instance. But it does so pretty much every time which can be aggravating if I forget to fix it.

    Thank you for that fix Deliyah/Desdi.

    One thing I have noticed is that you have to untick that system tab under EVERY chat region that your in, or you'll experience the chat bug in the chat region your in.

    HOWEVER there is a chat region you can leave it on, and still not experience the chat bug, and that is the GENERAL chat region. (That way we can see who gets drops and stuff still.)

    I have the system set on General chat (the one most people use as damage log) so that should work.

    Edit: Didn't see Slivaf's post but yeah.. system on General chat works fine.

    I tried said setting and when i teled (say arch to lost city) and while in warsong it still chat froze on me.

    You have to do it for EVERY chat region or you'll continue to get the bug, you can however leave it ticked for the general chat region, all of the rest HAVE to go off.

    If you do it only on squad chat, but you use guild chat and teleport, it still gonna lock.

    I can imagine its very annoying for ppl who like to see system msgs (Im one of those too), but I still keep them on trade chat just to be able to have a peek if I want to check who got drops etc.
    This is only temporary solution though, and I really hope they will fix this bug in next maint.

    I turned off system messages and it did fix the chat freeze issue, but I didn't like having my system messages off or in the general section so I turned them back on. Now it seems like my chat freezes all the time even without entering/leaving instances. Dunno if this will happen for other people too but if you do it, be prepared to keep it that way.

    I don't think this was because of playing around with System. I hadn't tried editing filters at all yesterday when suddenly my chat started freezing constantly with no teleporting taking place. Because of that I finally gave in and took System out of my Faction filter (which I'm on 99% of the time). Until they fix it I'll just have to quick switch to squad or something to check drops.
