I hope i am in the right section of this forum
I wanted to start a discussion and experience thread mainly about these two topics :
(And summarize the result) +one request
(please no troll comments)
1.Which hardware is the best for pwi /ways to increase the perfomance
(Full HD and higher)
(which hardware u are using)
2. Ways to increase the graphic (for example sb runinng post processing)
My Request @ Perfect World Entertaiment :
please improve the scaling of the interface with higher resolution
Now my comment :
1. I think oced quadcore without hyperthreading is the best was to play pwi
For example i5 4690k runnig @ 4,5ghz or i7 4790k @ 4,8 ghz (without hyperthreading)
Maybe only 1 or two activated cores are the best way to play pwi
I dont think you need that much graphics power for pwi
My system atm :
Cpu: Intel Xeon 1230v2 Ram:16gb 1333 Mhz Gpu : 2x Geforce Gtx 670 2gb @1,2 ghz
Intel SSD 335 : 180 gb monitor: Full HD ( I know a bit oldschool)
15-30 Fps south adc
2. Im using atm some downsampling @ 2880x1620 , but bad inteface scalling

So are you asking what is the best hardware to play PWI, or are you discussing what people are using to play PWI on max graphics? (sorry if I'm not getting it )
Since the engine on PWI is so old, pwi doesn't even take much to run at max graphics.

Only thing that will increase performance in PWI noticeably is raw CPU speed, the data bus speeds on the motherboard, and the speeds of your HD's and their associated iterfaces.

1. I run a PWI server. I'm currently coding server version 1.5.0 and am only a short step behind the current live version. I've also been coding and working with hardware for almost 30 years now.
On top of all that, I have previously worked directly with our local support team here at PWE, and also directly with the developers in China on changes that have been made to the client.
Just in case you weren't sure, and so that there is no doubt... I know what I'm talking about here.
2. The client was created based on a game engine over 10 years old. When it was originally developed in 2004, multi-core CPU's didn't exist on the consumer market, and a high-end video card had 32MG of RAM on it. Hyperthreading didn't exist.
2a. The game client does not use the GPU for any processing. It's merely used to draw the pixels on your screen. That's it. You can grab an old 8800GT from 2007, drop it onto a marginal system, and play PWI reasonably well. Keep in mind, the client isn't really using it, we just want the added speed for drawing the pixels.
2c. The game client will not make use of multiple CPU's. It will only ever use one core. No matter how much you try to fake it out or force it, it will only use one. On the same path, it's won't use hyperthreading either. It doesn't make any difference if you turn it on or off, other than it will have a negative impact on all your other system processes that are trying to use the same CPU core as the client. (Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt.)
3. Here's what I'm playing on.

I have graphics at max, I get about 14FPS in West Arch, and 30-40 just about everywhere else. I know where my bottleneck is too, it's in my HD Bus on my motherboard. I have another system here with a better motherboard and a faster CPU and it gets 40-60 average, with the 40 being in West Arch. It's got the exact same video card as mine. (saving up to upgrade this one currently.)
4. Last year Wanmei (the owners of PW) re-hired the original developers of the game. Last year it was announced that they were beginning R&D for upgrading PW from the old, outdated Angelica I engine, to the new Angelica III engine. I expect that the big Christmas season update this year will be a completely re-designed client that will fully utilize today's PC hardware.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Do you have any estimations on what kind of specs we'd be looking at when/if they do update to the new engine?0

I Play @ 2880x1660 making 4,66 mpixels
even full hd has 2,07 mpixels
What i want to say is that you need much more performance to play @ these resolutions
And the engine scale bad with multi core

Yes, hyperthreading existed, and graphic cards with more RAM existed. They weren't commonplace on the consumer market though. You only saw that gear in servers, and high-end gaming systems that cost extreme amounts of money.
I don't play at 1380x768. I play at 1920x1080 HD, full-screen with everything turned on. Sure I could disable shadows and trim the distance down a notch or two to get a really good increase in my FPS, but I like the way it looks. I know that I can configure the client on my setup with midline settings and easily get 30-60FPS everywhere, with maybe a dip into the upper 20's in West Arch. But it's not as pretty.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I have just an average gaming computer and I can run max settings (except softening just because I don't like the way it looks) in TW or NW and still have 30+ fps; best I've ever been at, that I've seen, is 94 fps. Even I was shocked to see it that high. I was even able to play PWI on my previous junk computer that I bought for 200 bucks at Wally-world as a quick replacement when my first one went to pot (I still occasionally use it just to run my catshop)
As a comparison I play another MMORPG (which I won't name) that is only two years old and I have to have the settings on mid to low or my screen becomes very jerky.AstriaFae

Just one little example :
watch them in full screen and you will see some difference
thats only 50% downsampling ...
Here Some thoughts :
Pwi could use some power gpu power,
but mainly the cpu bottleecks the gpu .
Got same fps rates with full hd as with 2880x1620
at full hd gpu load from 5-15% and ad 2880x1620 15%30% (gpu frequency was at a fixed point )
