No no no calm your balls, There is no Sequel to this game nor I'm gonna speculate. It's more of what if topic. Would you play if Perfect World was either re-made or made into a sequel? What would you like to see?
Personally I'd like the story to be advanced maybe even dropping the expansion races, adjusting classes, maybe Archosaur isn't the main city anymore flooded by destruction and war.

Always thought that was so weird.
PWI's customization is amazing; all of their other games are full of the ugliest, most plastic looking preset models. As my first MMO, PWI really spoiled me in that sense. I think it's also the only MMORPG they have where armor's not class-locked.
I'd prefer it to be re-made rather than made into a sequel; I think it would be great if they took more time writing the "narrative": pretty much that wraiths are bad and we should kill them I guess. They made this huge open world with an awesome aesthetic and that was the only narrative they could come up with to go with it. f:meh And the explanations for the arrivals of the new races were just stupid; "Oh yes, this huge chain of islands just appeared one day and they happen to be populated with terrifying fish people! Despite the apparent abundance of wise dudes with cryptic worldly things to say, we had no idea this would happen and we wouldn't ever cue the saviors of this universe in about it with some narrative even if we did. Also, packs. Carry on." I don't think I'd remove them from the game; I love my sin, psy, seeker and mystic buddies and while I don't personally find the latter three fun to play, they fit a lot of people's playstyles and are useful to squads in general.
Also the obvious things: more "western" f2p model, not selling power or selling it for the sake of convenience while also making it directly farmable in game, keeping the power levels down with new iterations or implementing some mechanism to scale with power so 99% of the game doesn't become obsolete, 75+ restriction on FCC, more aggressive advertising, anti-power-leveling incentives and more localization from the Chinese version (ie, PVP where it shouldn't be, low DQ nerfed, etc)
Also tamable octopi, quest writing contests & an evolution for any oddfoot pet that turns it into a superbuff pegleg penguin with machine gun arms and an eyepatch. Not with this "don't care" management.
They should divide and conquer, split game dev teams and put each team working in 1 specific game. Hire MORE developers and make each and every game good, instead of favoring the newest games and **** oldest ones.[S.E.V.C.H.E.N.K.O]

I would definitely play it...provided PWE either improved their management or the new PWI belonged to a different publisher/company (that doesn't do PWE's mistakes).
If they were to make a new version I'd like them to keep most things they have and just improve them and balance them out (plus updated graphics and fixed bugs etc.) and expand them (including new areas, new maps etc.). Additionally remove all the new quick EXP quests, instances, OP gears etc. though not make it too slow with leveling...well pretty much fix everything that's wrong in this version, have us "start over" but with various improvements and features that we didn't have when PWI was launched.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

Correct this is pw2, the first version which still exists is a timed based model as ours is a micro-transaction model with an improved game engine and other things.

Probably not, especially if this game was managed the way it currently is with the type of content we originally had when this version of the game first went live. Today's gamer does not want to spend 1 year+ trying to reach end game level, just so they can start doing end game content. Those that do enjoy that sort of thing probably aren't prominent enough to justify running an entire game for. I digress...
I'm honestly surprised that PWE or w/e the company is called is even pushing for a new MMO (Swordsman Online). This company seems to really be focused on the cash, so I'd figure they'd be better suited to developing and publishing smartphone/tablet games where they can really pump microtransactions.0 -

Yeah so now people just get to 100 in a few weeks and just don't do endgame content at all,just dailies..so much freakin fun...

I think another thing I'd add is mechanisms for better communication between us and Wanmei. I'm not entirely sure about the specifics of just what PWE is allowed to do with regards to the client, but I know it's not much. They aren't even allowed to directly fix our bugs.
I also think it'd be great if we actually got some low-level content other than BH/PV/FB. I know Theater of Blood starts at level 50 but it's not like level 50s actually do it. Also, if you're going to have a PVP arena, why make it incredibly short and a daily? I feel like people wouldn't rush to 100+ so much if all the fun stuff wasn't 100+; if most people aren't going to do quests or FBs, a dedicated, bracketed PVP arena would help people learn their class even while powerleveling.

^ PWRD develops both PWI, JD, FW, BOI etc. And, curiously they're also the ones behind the new game "Swordsman". Funny enough right? Now, from what I and any other player can see via Google search is: Wanmei, PWRD, PWE is all the same thing. And yes: PWRD milks money from old decaying games to bump newly launched games and, each of oldest games will get overlooked.[S.E.V.C.H.E.N.K.O]

I don't know what's the deal with PWE2 he mentioned. This game was my first MMORPG and for whatever reason I can't play anything else, I did play (game names go here) a bit but they have strange classes hybrids or the **** No-Target System where you just tap one of 5 skills just trying to aim at the god damn monster.Mystic: 99 lvl (Main)

I would probably play it if
- the graphics stay (i dont like the modern looks of games nowaday, they look unrealistic to me)
-the controls stay (no force to use keyboard for skills and simple moving in all directions, most new games doesnt have this anymore.)
These are the main reasons i still play PWI xD
- there will be an EU-Server
- there is a controlled Gold market
- class roles wont be messed up like ours (like some years ago without everyone being able to solo everything with r9, g16 or aps)
-No hypers till 80
Really, 08-11 were definetely better. When i think back, i had much more fun when i had my chars at 30-80 back then than i have now with several chars high-lvl. When a PW2 or PW3 manages to bring back that feeling, i would definetely play it and even put some money into it again.I like potatoes <(O~O)>0 -

I can't imagine why they would change the control set.
Class roles are only "messed up" because just about anyone can tank anything in this game. That's less on the fault of the actual developers, and more on PWE's reqest for customization in our version to "cater" to the western market. (Which is basically make everything carebear-style.)
The Hyper issue, is again, something custom to our version. PWE supports the cash-cow instant-gratification of today's kids. I mean, look at Skyrim, BF4, and other similar games. They've been babied down to where you can't lose and there's hardly any penalty. I'd love to see some of today's kids try playing a game like Morrowind and multi-classing.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Just a quick off topic, i had to cheat for a few weeks to figure out how classes worked in morrowind. That game was fun kind of complex.
On topic, if they improve textures, does that mean the game will take more ram to run, or use the gpu more? Overall, will it use more resources to run, or less?0 -

I didn't know Hypers were a PWI thing only, but now that you say that, I'm not surprised at all.
I don't think I'd really even care if PWI was re-done with R9 still available as long as the game prevented people from skipping levels 1-100. Also, I'd want bound Dreamchaser stuff taken out and replaced with the old quest rewards and mold drops from FBs. I think I read Wanmei did this to combat botting on Chinese servers, but if they can make something game-changing like hyper stones specifically for PWE, I have no idea why they can't discern the effects of "fixing" localized problems on all servers. Hyper stones themselves exist in China.
The ability to use them in Frost to skip the game, is a PWI thing... and part of why they didn't care much about "fixing" the goon glitch for so long.(Insert fancy image here)0 -
I'd certainly be interested few basic things would need to be adressed such as better optimaised TW and NW instances there have been times when i've been sitting with ping at 100ish and frps had died to just 4 then times in a 80 vs 80 with another game running in the background and youtube playing music and its run soomth as you like with maxed settings.
Other would be clearer class distinctions and ofc with that betr balance (both pvp and pve) it'd be nice to see pve elements not just run by every1's BM/sin alt pre r9 or pvp with a better mix of classes standing out their not just the TB race and the odd cleric,seeker or archer thrown in for flavour.
lastly maybe a bit more customisations skillwise other than genie to betr tailor you toon to you play stlye im not talking cross class hybrids as seems to be the current trend but things like been able to make a pure fire mage or an archer that benifits for using just xbow and has skills for that weapon etc stuff that takes the tools each class currently has and allows it to be developped more0 -
I've been playing this game for about 5 years and been upgrading my hardwares from adding more ram to upgrading cpu & gpu, oh, and OS too from xp vista and win7, but none seems to have improved the performance of the game. When it lags, it'll still have that lag especially in a crowded area no matter what hardware has been upgraded, the only difference is that I can run more clients than before.
I hope the rumors are true about upgrading the game engine, it's about god damn time they do that for both performance and aesthetics. This game doesn't look bad for an 'old' game though, but could be better.
The issue I hate so much is rubber banding, I remember how smooth movement in air back then, but I guess it's sacrificed for countering fly **** / jump ****. Kiting melees in air work so perfect without the rubber banding at that time, turning on/off flyer worked so instantly I could just drop from air and timed where I want to be, with rubber banding it's kinda delayed and hard to maneuver.0 -

Probably remaking the game would be the best...
When you think why the devs just keep powercreeping the game, and not nerf what should be nerfed it could be because they can't change the old code. Even though they supposedly brought the old developers, they probably can't do anything either.

If you're experiencing rubber-banding at this point, it's most likely an issue either on your PC, or with latency in the data stream between you and the server.

Yes this is something that drives me nuts whether it's Guild Wuars 2 or Neverwinter. The Combat style where you would choose your next move from pool of skills based on strategy and some good 'ol decision taking like you would do in TableTop RPG is almost extinct . Nowadays MMOs give you few skills which you just tap repeatedly while you have to run around wildly to evade attack or if game is NO-Target you have to aim that one repetitive skill to kill the poor monster. It's so annoying. Also Linear maps like just following quest line and pre-set patch not being able to explore things by yourself..cough Aionn...cough
As for the lagging someone mentioned yes this game and it's engine it's old and unoptimized for the new hardware, I have Dual nVidia GTX 770 SC guess what, yep my game still gets choppy because game simply doesn't use more than Quarter of your PC power, no you can't fix it coding is like Jenga you start messing something at the bottom and whole thing crashes into oblivion of glitches and bugs.
