Pet Manager Quest Malfunction

The new area of Origination offers the player a chance to get a second pet slot through one of the regular quests in the sequence. It also gives you a mount and an all class pet, along with the opportunity to buy a second mount and a second all class pet with the aqua metal tokens you collect in the origination area. This is very helpful to new players - they have a second pet slot when they start the game.

However, once you are in the regular game area, the quest from the pet manager to get an additional pet slot requests you to collect 20 fodder. When you turn it in, it says it is activating a second pet slot- not an additional one- and keeps the twenty hay you have collected (which is many hours of grinding to collect). This is extremely frustrating.

When you create a new Veno and go through the quests in the Origination area, you also get the second pet slot. Once you leave, during the required quests needed to get the tame beast skill you get a reward of an additional pet slot.- essential to Venos for having more than 1 type of pet - not even considering a mount or all class pets like the ones from Origination. However, the quest does not open a third slot- it when handed in, it says it is opening the second slot the Veno already has when you turn it in.

In neither of these cases is it clear the quest reward is only opening a second slot, not an additional one, until after the quest is turned in.

Potential solution- suitable for both cases- have NPC give reward of an actual cage (bound to player) which can then be handed in to the Pet Manager to actually open an additional pet slot for the character.

thank you

The cage you get in Origination disappears when you leave the area so you have to use it before leaving.

Yes, it does - I'm sorry I didn't make that explicitly clear- that is part of the issue. You must turn in the cage to the pet manager in Origination, or lose it. I think it is great to get the pet slot- but having it is affecting the other two quests. The effect means the first pet cage quest in Perfect World is not only useless, it penalizes the player who does it by taking the hay anyhow. As well, Venos don't get the advantage of an extra pet slot for the pets they must have to play their class.

Strange. I didn't have that problem on my new lowbies. Used cage in Origination and got 2nd slot. Then did the 20 hay quest and got 3rd slot.

Gramery seems to be right according to my test. Pet Manager is set to unlock slot #2 in both situations, so if you already have two, it doesn't unlock an additional slot until the second food/cage quest.

    Devs have been notified.

I also had this pet bag issue with my newly created veno.

-- I did take the quest to enlarge my pet bag in primal and received and used the cage that was the reward.

-- Once I was on the main map I received no quests from the Pet Manager to increase my slots - neithe the hay nor the fruit quest.

-- When I attempted to use a cage, I could not. I ended up having to buy a Super Cage and that I was able to use. It was, however, an uneccessary expense.

-- Another glitch I discovered was that this account cannot use Martial Arts Scrolls. I know it used to be able to- the account is a year and a half old and I have leveled other toons with martial arts scrolls. However no toon on this account can use martial arts scrolls.

If you start a new character, you are given a cage while in the new Primal starter zone. You have to use that cage before leaving or it disappears. Since you are also given a mount and an all-class pet, it is safe to assume most people are going to use the cage to get a second slot in the pet bag. My newer archer did this early on.

Yesterday I had another mount I wanted to hatch, so I went to the Pet Manager to pick up the quest for another slot, intending to do the one that requires farming rather than buying a cage. There was a quest to deliver 20 hay and in return get another pet bag slot, so I spent a few hours farming to get said hay. Imagine my surprise when, after all that work, the NPC took the hay and gave me nothing in return!

It seems as though there has been a screwup here. Apparently, the 20 hay quest does not recognize if a cage has been used, and will only give a free slot next to the ones you started with (2nd slot for most races, 3rd slot for venos). What SHOULD be happening is that the 20 hay quest should disappear if you already have an extra slot and the 50 fruit quest should be in its place so that you can still progress via quests. Or better yet, just let the 20 hay quest work regardless of cages used.

If you aren't going to fix this, then at least make the cage given in the Primal zone not disappear so that people could use it later on instead, and put a warning on it so they don't farm for hours for nothing.

    To replicate:

    1. Make a new character
    2. Use the given cage while in the Primal starter zone
    3. Go to Archosaur and see the Pet Manager
    4. Take the quest to extend pet bag via finding feed
    5. Acquire 20 hay and turn in the quest
    6. Watch as the hay disappears but you still only have two slots

    Already reported.

This has been a problem since New Horizon was released. It also affects the extra pet bag slot venomancers get from the Sacred Beast quest.

Darnit, I used the search function typing in as many things as I could think of and got nothing, so I posted this. Sorry mods, you can merge it to the first report if you want.

Just wanted to add my name to the list of the people who did not get the 3rd pet slot when turning in the 20 hay. In my case, it took me 3 days to gather the hay, because, at first, I didn't know where to get it. After researching, my level was too high for it to drop from certan mobs and too low for the level 30 mobs. Finally got the hay, turned it in and still only had the 2 pet slots that had been opened in Primal World. Please keep us abreast on this situation, because I'm really not in the mood to go collect 50 fruit, just to get ripped off again.

I've tested a few more times. Seems like the Hay quest replaces the origination slot.

    b:surrender Lotsa farming for that.

I'm glad someone's testing, but is there a resolve yet. I've got pet egg that I've had ever since I got to the mainland and I would like to hatch it. All I see is talk, but no action.
