Hey guys
My friend and me want to play this game together, but we were a bit worried when we saw that each race has their own starting point.
She wants to play either Venomancer or Assassin (hasn't decided yet), and I want to play Seeker, so will it be hard for us to group up early (possibly from the very beginning), and can we do the quests from other races, like Tideborn doing all the Earthborn quests ect?
Any other useful tips would be apprechiated aswell

With the exception of seeker as any race can do the lvl30 portions starting at lvl30, yeah you can't do other races quests as a different race.
The tideborn have a quest chain that any race can do at lvl40.0 -
Actually, everyone starts in the same area now. The new Primal into area[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Yeah everyone starts together now. Make sure you make characters of opposite genders, it'll make things easier down the road.0

OP here.
So I assume the wiki is outdated then?
Will we be able to mix and match as we like and go adventuring together from the beginning? I know that for example Assassin can only be Tideborn, but I mean can an Assassin and Venomancer play together from level 1?
Any other things we should keep in mind that would be handy to know as new players?
And thanks for the help so far

When you make a new character now you will both start out in the primal world, by doing the quests there by the time you leave you should be around level 5 or 6. Once you leave you will then appear in your starting city. Leveling from 5-20 is extremely fast, and can easily be done in an hour or two. Once you reach level 20 everyone has the same quests and you and your friend will be able to play together. So it's just levels 5-20 that you will be separate.
As for having toons of different gender it makes it easier to do a primal quest, also males can carry females. This is a fast way to regain chi, and if you have a flyer/mount and she doesn't (or yours is faster) you can carry her around.AstriaFae

If you play together all the time, it is nice to have complementing characters. In that aspect, assasin seeker is pretty good as seekers are the best AOE class, but need the assassins bloodpaint buff. While assassins are the best single target damage class.
Venos are more of a solo class, not so much complementary.Everything i write is from PvE perspective unless mentioned otherwise.0 -
Thank you very much guys, this helped alot!0

Excellent point.
Though it might not be best for you to make a assassin for your main; currently it is safe to say that on any server at least half of the players are assassins. Anyone that does not play one as their main, has one as an alt they use for farming and at a higher level you will have a difficult time getting into a squad just because of how many people have a sin.AstriaFae

It depend on the point of view, lately all the new instances requisite someone that can purge and I rarely see people that want to do FPS without a veno, same for PVP/TW, veno a must to have for reliable purges and all other debuffs.
I suggest to the OP and his friend to play the class they enjoy even if it's not necessary 2 classes that is a perfect match.
Also yes now people start in the same area, but once you are done there you get teleport to you race start area, there's no important quest there, just be sure to do your gold quest which is cultivation, it's the only important quest since it's the one you need to learn new skills, the first and maybe second culti quest will be different for a veno and seeker, but those quests take maybe 5 minutes to be done and the next will be the same quests for both of you.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Um no? That's your opinion. My cousin just started playing like 4-5 months ago from a different couple MMOs that bored her to death after a couple weeks, and is having a blast here. Found a good faction and made some new friends along the way that have been helping her with the content.
She is FAR from bored and loves the game, finding fun things that interest her. Good thing I didn't direct her to forum for guidance, nothing but trolls on it (there are some wonderfully helpful people on the forum don't get me wrong). Huge chunk of the nice and helpful players are ingame.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I'm not sure about "best" AOE class but we're certainly close. Pyschic is number 1 in that department, but for the melee class, we're a bit tied with BM.0 -

As others said, you'll start out in the 'new' starting area together which makes it really smooth for new players. Once you leave you'll head to your race's starting areas (an assassin to raging tides, seeker to tellus, or if there's a veno to city of the lost). Even if you are apart for a couple of quick quests, by level 20 I believe? You'll both be in Archosaur and doing the same cultivation and quests =D0 -
Complementary classes depend on play styles. A veno can solo lots of things that sins and seekers will not be able to do at lower levels due to their pets.
It comes down to how much a person really loves their character. You can make any class and make it work with any other class. I remember i used to farm some mobs before for dq items with a wizard. I(blade master = bm) would pull, stun hf, and she would one shot them. I took care of stragglers. Neither had good gear at the time, we just liked to have fun. If our pulls went wrong, we would both die b:laugh.
If you are opposite genders, it allows the male character to carry the female character. My main is a male. All my alts are female, this was i can carry them around where ever i need them. Very useful. Also a good way to get chi (something needed later in the game). Let's say your start off in different places after you reach the world. Only one of you has to meet up with the other. After that you can carry the other person over to where both of you want to go.
There are some male-female restrictions in the game though. Barbarians = male only. Venomancers = female only. All other classes have a male and female version except the untamed (barbarians+venomancers).0
