elemental shard question.

Hi, i have a question on how elemental shards work. For instance, if a wizard added a ruby shard to his weapon. Would it increase the fire damage of skills like pyrogram?

Or does it not effect skills and have the effect of adding fire damage to melee attacks? Like if say an assassin added a ruby shard to his daggers, would he now deal fire damage every time he hit someone?

Which effect do elemental shards have?

    Elemental shards do their respective element dmg, but only on auto attack. They dont stack with skills, no matter what class u r. So best option for ur weapon is garnet/sapphire shards. (Or maybe the att lvl ones. Or amber for those who need the accuracy.) Never ever use the elemental shards with ur weapon.

    So, you're saying it adds elemental damage to melee attacks then?

    Correct. It adds minimal elemental damage to melee attacks and... that's it.

    Making them essentially useless when compared to other gems that can be placed in your weapon.

    Just to clarify, I said auto attack. A bow is no melee weapon. :P
