A New Toon in Primal World

This thread is not in any way meant to say Primal World is not good. It is quite a nice regional addition to the game.

This thread is not to say the end-game version should be detracted from, disparaged or changed in any way. I have no reason to say anything about something I havent experienced yet.

From the perspective of someone that has only really played 1 class and char for a while, while making a new char after the expansion, I have some feelings Id like to share about it from a new player perspective:

1. Although it was a noble jesture to try to bring old players together with new ones, in the end, it isnt working. In fact, its more of a turn off to encounter a rebirthed player in Primal World, mainly because they can annoy the **** out of you with childish actions and PMs because they need ALL the mobs to grind for the flyers and mounts. The fact that you might just be a noob simply doing a quest doesnt even enter their pointy little heads, lol.

That is not to say there is anything wrong with anyone grinding flyers or mounts. No! Those are GOOD things for current players. b:victory

It really serves no purpose for a new player. There is really nothing in there that anyone needs to do with anyone else except kiss on a bridge - which really only applies to the new toon, as there is more to do as rebirthed players progress.

Because of these things, I personally think it would be better to bring people into the game the old way. There is no really good and friendly experience for a new player in Primal World.

2. It just makes the game seem to make more since, imho. Its a faux pas in writing to backtrack the storyline - end with an inverted new beginning.

Instead of moving in straight line, which naturally at least holds the hope of further expansion, the ends are joined. Its confused and feels limited.

3. It feels extraordinarily strange to begin in Primal World, but never be able to go back until you reach end game - light-years faster than ever before experienced, and nothing to call an amazingly enjoyable experience from a 'gameplay' perspective - and rebirth. Its like you are being catapulted to end-game with no rhyme or reason for it, to me.

I have XP coming out my noobs ears, but no spirit to even feign trying to keep with my level for my spells, or cultis.

I made another Mystic. Its noobier now spell wise at level 65, than my first Mystic was at level 30. In short, for a new player, Primal World and its accoutrements are beautiful to look at, but otherwise really doesnt serve much of a purpose.

The speeded up after-experience leaves you flat. This cant be champagne - there are no bubbles in it. No fizz... o.0

How is it for the Rebirthed? I cant discuss what I havent done. b:thanks

Do you even realize that you can't reenter the new starter area once you've left it at noob levels...

I been to both the new newbie area as well as Primal World, they are actually different places. They look very similar, at least at the 'starting area.' Only newly created characters can have access to the newbie area (until they leave, then they can't get back in), rebirthed players cannot actually get in.

As for how I feel about the newbie area, Area of Origination I think it's called? It's...ok I guess...But an oldie like me will always prefer the original starting towns. They have a special charm to them, and was always nice starting within the town of your race. :3

Sure, but I went into it not even knowing I would spawn in Primal World, so it was as new to me as all the old stuff in the game would be to any new player.

I didnt know all those other toons were just someones new alts - either way, same difference, lol.

Although as a player that has played a few years, it was a beautiful place and welcome new experience from that older perspective - from the perspective of someone trying the game for the first time, as long as there are others to play with - the old way WAS a completely superior experience when hooking a new player to a game.

The old beginning game left me wanting more each day. The new beginning doesnt give me that same feeling of anticipation.

    Thanks for your input.
    b:thanks

Rebirthed =/= Old player making a new character then.

It actually has to do with #1, which is completely wrong based on the fact that rebirthed players are not in the same map as brand new toons.

It doesn't bring new players into a map with old players.

Also, just because it's a new map, doesn't change the fact that it's a completely desolate landscape. Nothing has changed except for the chance to meet new people who are starting new toons because all 5 races start in the same spot, rather than in 5 different spots.

Edit: Here just to show it a bit better...

I mean, you're describing the new player map, but you are aware that rebirthed people don't go to the same primal map right?

Well, let me bring #3 into the forefront then, so everyone can see without the benefit of having actually read beyond #1, that I already said you cant go back in my first post, in point #3.

I will follow it with a line from my 4th post so everyone can see, again without bothering to read the whole thread, I acknowledged that I did not know I was with new alts only.

If we are done trying nit-pick me and the thread to death, maybe it could get back on topic.

Or, maybe a mod will close it and let it die a natural death on a practically dead forum.

Either way, who cares, right? b:chuckle

Im guessing the Emporer would rather still believe in his non-existant new clothes, than acknowledge that their may be better options for new players. I guess its to be expected when programmers try to improve upon something that is/was perfect. *winks*

I think you're just having a massive misunderstanding in what's going on and can't seem to grasp that.
