hello i wanted to say that i don't understand why wont pwi make this game work on Linux because the issue is that arc crash's on Ubuntu and they say that they want the game to work on all OS's's and whats funny is that pwi servers are running on Linux servers. so it don't make sense if they have a server running on Linux and not on the Linux Environment. so why cant we have the game run on it also?? and no wine does work with arc but all it does it crash's someone help the linux world of gaming arc. will install but it will not let you download the game because if you try to hit the download button all it will do is crash after u hit the button to download. but PLEASE PWI MAKE THE GAME WORK ON LINUX!!b:sad

the game was not built to run in a linux environment, the server was. There are a lot of reasons you would rather run the server on a *nix environment over windows, but there are so many I wont bother posting them here. Plus the api that the game uses does not exist in the nix environment. You can try to run it under wine ect, but there is no support for that. there are several threads on running the game on nix.Marine - Marshall - Raging Tides - Retired

Yes, because people really need 900+ dex or 1000+ magic just for the lulz0 -
System Requirements
If the system doesn't meet the requirements of the game, the game will either not run at all or give a less than desirable performance. To ensure a smooth gaming experience, we recommend that you meet the following settings:
Operating System:
Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Vista, or Windows 70 -

Well that's the only page I know of that's up-to-date on patches, only other one is this thread by a GM with basically the same links, but out-of-date on newer patches.

If you're trying to patch older than the current download version, you're wasting time.
Also, if you want to run it on Linux, there's a couple of threads with great detailed instructions over in the Tech Support Zone forum.
Lastly... This is the price you pay for running an OS that has less than 12% of the marketshare. People don't spend hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars developing a game for a niche market. Especially converting a game that is already 10 years old.
I'm not beating on Linux, I love it. Just know the price you're going to pay when you use it as your primary OS before you switch.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
yes Linux is a good os but I have talked to a gm on her before they he said that they want the game to work on all the os's out their that most people use now days the more updated ones but like steam is working on Linux and I can understand they cant support the files for Linux for sure because it would take sometime a lot of time to do but think about it Linux is free and perfect world is free to play. so but all I can say is it is what it is.0

1. Necro
2. Punctuation. Learn to use it.
3. It's expensive to completely re-write the code so that it will work on Linux, or on a Mac. They aren't going to pony up for that. Even now, Mac and Linux are an extremely small percentage of the systems out there. Most current game manufacturers don't waste the money coding games to run on them. This was written 10 years ago when they were even less popular.
In conclusion, know what you're getting yourself into when you decide to run an OS that's an extreme minority. Sure I'd like to see more things on Linux because it's a wonderful OS. But I'm also familiar with reality and have set my expectations as such when I'm using it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Oh yay. More necros.
