Returning to PWI

hey guys,
I am just coming back to PWI from a 2 year stint of quitting online mmo gaming. and i find myself with more time again to play games. So i could really use a short list and small explanation if you are a willing soul <--lol of what i need to do to progress in the game. last i played NV was the gear to have and R8 was the last rank gear and DPS,APS was all the rage.

I am a lvl 100 BM with the 79 and 100 skills and demon path i am interval 5.0 sparked. in the hh99 gold gear. so i'm wondering if you guys could give me a list of mile stones so i can get my bearings back and have an idea of what to do.

Thanks for the help and the lolz at my char in its current state.

Gears are now R9T3 (R9, R9r, R9rr), refines +12, gems JoSD or Diety

APS is moving to DPH

Dominance Tome is the shizzle.

Meridian and War Avatars/Nuemas for added bonuses.

Reincarnation x2 for added bonuses and for new instance that is PK enabled. New skills in newest area. Primal expansion also brought Auto-Culti (temporary legal bot).

TW and now NW (Nation Wars).

Morai new area with new skills, if you missed it. Also Morai gears if you never intend to kill a soul.

Hall of Reflection for AFK leveling.

Not sure what point you exactly quit but there will be to much new stuff to just list in a few lines. Some things to take a look at.

- Servers.
Before you really start playing again, there are 3 different server times now. If 8pm~11pm server time doesn't fit your play times at all, you should consider moving to another server imo. There is just so much "event" content now, that you will miss on a lot if you're on a server that doesn't match your rl scedule. This also includes money and gear.

- New boss mechanics.
Newer instances (or revamped old ones) have bosses that moved out of the old strategies. They mainly have a stong bleed skill that hits lower as your HP is higher and a selfbuff (you can't really purge) that reduces auto-attack melee damage by a lot. They also tend to have things to make you run, stop hitting etc.

- APS
It's pretty much outdated. PvE-wise, see above. PvP-wise, you're a 1 shot. 5 aps isn't totally useles, but you won't be asked for it anymore. In regular daily stuff, nobody cares anymore.

- NW (Nation Wars)
Friday and Sunday 8h20 to 10h20. It's a PvP kind of events on a special map, where you move towards battles going from 10vs10 to 30vs30 kind of battles. Even if you don't like it, not being able to attend at all is a big handicap. Check forges in north Arch.

- Morai (not sure if you got to see that)
New map you enter at 95 (I think, 79 culti or something) where you can join an order. That opens dailies and you can get skills with the points you collect. Besides the skills of each order, you can use the points on cheap shards (similar to perfect shards), mounts, att/def charms, and worthles PvE gear. There is also Advanced Endless Univers instance (more skills, pots, exp) and Endless Univers (no real use, just bh).

- Reawakening/reborn
Totally new. You go back to lvl1 but are your old lvl for some stuff. Check the FAQ post. Gives acces to skill upgrades and an instance that allows to get War Avatars.

- Gear
You got pretty much 2 (3) options :
Rank 9 went till a 3rd cast. It's the most powerfull and most expensive.
G16 is the cheap route that is an upgrade from G15 nirvana
(R8r is still viable even if not amazing)
You farm mats for those 2 in Warsong and Lunar. If you plan to go G16 considering you have TT99, you have to check NW forges. With some NW you'll be able to be at G15 really easily (this totally killed Nirvana). Then you just need molds and essences.

- New smaller features
There is a bot inside game now since recently.
You can collect "nuema" that ups your def/hp/att and such. You can absorb up till 20 a week.
You have meridian points to open. You get pills for that from dailies
You can collect War Avatars, which are a bit like new gear. Need gold to actually get strong ones. Basic ones are free (quest + dailies + instance).

Dang there is a lot of new stuff, well i appreciate the help guys its making things a lot easier to come back to.

glad to see APS go and old builds become viable again.

i didnt get to see morai i'll have to check that out too.

1.5k rl for base set r9 sounds do able, is there any other way besides cash shopping for r9 atm?

for those of you who post after this reply, i ended 4 months after sins came out and everyone said 5.0 and CV or better +7 or gtfo lol.

couple questions about my BM:

1) is it best to go to a axe/fist bm now mostly axe and fist for interrupt and cancel skills?

2) is the morai gear best for PVE and G16 for PVP?

3) suggestions on a helpful faction in lost city server so i can get **** done :P i noticed Kami/CQ are gone not sure really what factions are what now

About r9 :
In theory, you can get chips from BH and medals of glory in a TW faction.
In reality, you have to get it with gold (charged or bought with coins or buy from others who got it in boutique). Just save up gold till there is a good sale. It happens every 3~4 months.

About gear requirements :
Depends on your server. I barely see it asked in wc. Bosses got a reduction on auto-attacks, often aoe ability is just as important. Many rewards are now quest-based that is available daily or weekly (so there is no endles spam, meaning they won't search 10min to save 1min since you only do 1 run). Most have G16 or R8r at least anyway, NW made it easy to get even for casual players.

On BM (even if I'm not a BM) :
1) I still think axe/fist is the best because it can use all weapons. PvP-wise you will use axes most (especially since that's the r9 weapon). PvE-wise it doesn't really matter that much. With axes you'll be good help aoe-wise anyway.

2) Don't bother with the morai gear. PvE-wise it's very good ... but for the same effort you'll have R8r or G16, meaning you will also be able to do NW and other PvP content decently. That gear is based on attack and defense lvls that only work in PvE. So whenever you face a player, you'll be less then a fly. It was OK before NW kicked in, because it was easy to get. Right now, there is no real use anymore.

3) No idea.

Most BMs I see still keep fists/claws. APS is not completely useless (old instances like TT, Warsong, Lunar still favor APS) but it's definitely not like it used to be (lots of newer bosses have a self-buff that if you hit with auto attacks it raises its defence, also APS gear is typically low-grade and squishy for PvP, it's okay-ish for PvE but at higher refines/shards, still squishy though).

Morai gear (comes in three grades 13, 14 and 15 I think) was comparable to Nirvana 2nd cast gear for PvE. It was pretty decent and lots of PvE-only players went for it as a cheaper option. However, Nation Wars made Raptures/Uncannies dirt cheap making Nirvana gear pretty cheap (plus trade-able/account stash-able for multiple toons, Morai gear is bound to the toon). In addition, the 3rd cast Nirvana gear (commonly addressed as G16 Nirvana or Nirvana T3) is much better than Morai even for PvE so everyone's opting for that.

G16 Nirvana is your best option for PvP gear if R9rr is not affordable. G16 Nirvana is comparable to R9 first cast (but loses out to R9 third cast).

Things you should know: a lot of new skills were added that changed the gameplay in different ways. Try asking around people in-game to know more about it. For example BMs have a skill to disable weapon for x seconds and Clerics have a new mode (Ultraviolet Dance) which ups their attack and gives them access to new offensive/PvP-oriented skills.

New add: Spirit. It works for both PvE and PvP but it's mostly PvP-oriented (less effective in PvE). It works like a new form of Attack/Defence levels. Big numbers of Spirit make a difference; it's available only through equipping War Avatar cards (of the Soulprime/Lifeprime type).

New passive skills: Available after you rebirth, requires materials. Takes time to make/level them up but they give more defence, more attack and more crit. Max lvl10 I think. Attack gives 2% per level, Defence gives 8% per level and Crit gives 1% per level.

Warning: there are a ****-ton of dailies/weeklies to do in game that include:

Morai order quests to gain Influence/Prestige for skills, shards, defence/attack charms, mounts, baby pets, EXP/Rep/Spirit jades (right-click to receive exp/rep/spirit) and other stuff. Three orders available...you'll need stuff from all three.

Primal World quests after you rebirth (aka reawaken/reincarnate) to gather Blood which you need to make new skills. Also needed to gain Vitae to level up your Arcane Sky/Mirage Sky (needed to learn skills, similar to cultivation needs).

Meridian. Gain pills from daily quests to unlock/open.

Abaddon/Seat of Torment weekly quests, collect crushed emblems, has various uses like incomparable shards or other stuff.

Morai weekly, missive quest and some kind of event on saturday to gain more prestige needed to unlock goodies in orders.

Nuema weekly, random FB bosses drop orbs (can see list in the war avatar window) which you absorb to lvl up nuema for more stats (attack, defence etc.). Up to 20 per week, resets on Friday midnight.

BH...well you know what that is.

Advanced Endless Universe. You get 6 orders a week, you can run it as many times as you want as long as you have orders. It's good EXP, has a chance to win skillbooks of new skills. Also decent place to "farm" pots like IGs, Vacuitys etc.

The biggest thing you will need is a faction and friends that will help support you in learning the new changes in the game.

It's been proven over an over that the general community pretty much sucks in this regard.

don't worry about being in a faction though you can join one you will still find yourself going with random people.

So its best to just go get the job done yourself because most cases a faction in this game is just a bunch of alts.Maybe you will get lucky,maybe not,im just a person that just don't like to wait around for people to much.

If you want repeatable dailies as a mmo then welcome back.

Pretty much what everyone else said. Just be aware that if you do rebirth, that'll mean going back to level 1, and leveling again with increased stats. (There are detailed threads on this in the forums.) Also, you'll need to rebirth again twice to get the maximum effect.

Get used to running Warsong. You'll need basic badges proper essences, and the proper molds that are found there...this applies whether you're going the G16 route, or the R9 3rd cast route.

Mirage Fairy boxes are no longer found in TT from my understanding. (Saying this because I don't know what you farmed to make income, or whether you relied upon that feature.)

Morai: Look up the different orders there to decide which skills you want to learn first. (They're found in different ones, and you have to do one at a time. (More detail on this is found on the forums.)

Nirvana: Its now obsolete and collects dust. Due to nation wars, no one runs this instance anymore unless they are aftere a title or something.

Title: Adds small stats after reaching a certain requirement. Nothing major, but every little bit counts.

I would recommend for now, (and if you want to go R9, that's okay.)...but since you're already in TT/99 gold gear, to probably upgrade it to G15 and then G16 if you don't get R9 first. (THIS MAY AFFECT YOUR APS, SO YOU'LL HAVE TO LOOK INTO THAT. I'm a cleric main, so some of the set bonuses to other classes is unknown to me. G15 and G16 have good bonuses, but, I RECOMMEND ALSO POSTING IN THE BLADEMASTER SECTION, since you're a returning blademaster. They may be able to give more insight into things involving your class, including any new skills, gear, etc.

The warsoul weapons are easier to get...though still not so easily obtainable.

Thing to note: G16, Warsoul, and Rank 9 all have high attack levels to go along with them, so they all deal great amounts of damage...though as others have said R9r3 trumps all.

I agree, HT is alot of fun. Either way this recent expansion is probably one of the best ones I've seen since I've been playing, so now is a good time to return to this game : )

Seriously don't listen to anyone that says you need to "buy/trade" gold to get you R9 mats. IMHO these people are either too impatient and just incapibile fo thinking outside he box. The alternative to CS or farming is merchanting your R9 gear.

I finish my getting my armor in November and it took me 9 month if just buy/selling items. I did not farmed a single instances or CS'd for it and now working on my weapon. I will admit this method does require a lot of patience, focus, and dedication because it is easy to become discouraged. If you are like me and need see some progress of your work, I suggest you keep a personal journal and track your progress with each piece of R9 your get as a milestone.

Unfortunately, you just missed a super rank 9 sale and the next probably will be in June but you never know about PWI. When the super sale is going GST are about 6 to 6.5 million and MoG 23-25 million. If you set up a cat shop to buy, you may get a better price.

Barring any major inflation spikes and assuming you have the Rep, each piece of R9 will cost:

Ring: 261 - 283 million
Armor(x4): 131 - 141 million
Belt: 261 - 283 million
Weapon: 625 - 678 million

For a total coin price of: 1.67 - 1.81 billion.

Sounds alot but with selling FC, buy/selling NW mats, and now botting, it is doable.

1000 players in World chat proposing FC services, Archosaur crowded by Cat shops, which can't sell anything, since they sell same items, bots crowded World map and everyone try to buy gold ...

Now look at Auction house for amount of gold available and tell me, how many players able to buy R9 right now ?

This is where you exploit the merchants. They buy MoG and chips thinking they will make their 10% profit only to find out 10 others are undercutting them for a 5% profit. By sales end you have those few nab merchent stuck with MoG/chips looking to unload so they have coin to invest on the next sale and this does happen. I've watch a cat shop in W.Arch buying GST at 5.5 million well below any possibility to turn a profit given the price of gold and someone was selling to him/her.

I happen to think there is a huge surplus of boutique items on the servers. You just have to be at the right place at the right time to buy them when a player get frustrated and unloads them.
