Why do East Coast Servers Randomly Crash?

Judging from the lack of complaints in general on the forums currently, it's highly unlikely the server crashed.
Generally when a server crashes, the forum gets flooded and spammed with mad 12 year olds who can't play.
No such thing happening at the moment, so if someone dc's, it's unlikely to be a crash on PWE's end.

But why do servers crash?
1. The server had a derpy hiccup and it crashed (or just caused massive lag / dc's people for a bit)
2. A map died (crashed) in which you were in at that moment and you're stuck in it until it's fired back up
3. Someone poored their coffee over the servers
4. They didn't pay the electricity bill
5. ToS states they can do whatever they want without warning
6. Server commits seppuku because he dishonored his family by hosting a PWE game.

If you can't connect to server, or if it says it's offline, that doesn't mean it crashed. 99% chance is that the problem is in network between you and server. Meaning - server is working just fine, but for whatever reason you can't reach server, while others can, and are still playing.

So next time, ask someone from your server first if she/he can connect (if you have them on facebook/skype/email/forums/whatever), then open topic on forum asking if others can connect to server. Only if there's lots of people that can't connect to server you can say it crashed.

Looked like a crash to me and it is happening more and more often. Maybe the servers just need better care no?b:laugh

It is late and the server isnt very active at this time but me im online at a weird time but that still is no excuse for the server to go down its just unfair that they go down for no reason

The server didn't go down, just your connection to it did.

There's a hell of a lot of internet between your PC and the server, and I can guaruntee you that your path to the server is different from your path to the website. There's a decent change they aren't in the same building, and since you're hooking up to an East coast server, they aren't even on the same side of the continent.

1. Well honestly, Elvenne of Raging Tide has a valid point with respect to more lag, more glitches and hicups etc, what have you. And I say that even knowing what a dirty troll he can be on Raging Tide, which should in and of itself give Elvenne's concern at least a little more validation here. He does seem to be posting here, "Out of Character" I guess you could say?

2. SylenThunder of Sanctuary, you have had my respect since the FC/Hypers restriction poll, among other things. And although you have a great and informative thread there on what I would even otherwise say is the issue(s), I think in this case and currently, that thread holds no solutions to this particular concern stated by Elvenne.

3. Another person that I should bring up is Kniraven of Lost City whom also had a very good post with respect to why PWI has so much lag, so many glitches and hicups etc. He had stated that PWI was originally designed as ALL PvP Servers. PWI as we know it however, was redesigned in order to be able to have PvE Servers. This is a very good point as to why PWI has so much to QQ about.

4. What needs to be done at this point, is PWE needs to really push at fixing what is all frazzled at this point, the best that they can. I think they could do it if they really focused on it. All the issues at this point are either due to them pushing too fast on new content (hopefully the issue is this one) or due to them expanding the world of PWI too far beyond what the programs, engines, servers or whatever can handle apparently (they would need to put money toward new equipment etc). And I think there is basically enough content as far as needing to Re-Awaken at this point to keep most people busy long enough to buy them time to do so (when you consider most are not concerned yet with releveling alts). Add perhaps, throw in a few new fash and flyers and mounts maybe.

Not at all. On Raging Tide, there have never been so many people having the same exact issue. What you are talking is simple things like having a creature targeted and press a spell button. Or simply clicking on flying or turning it off. Or how about mounting and unmounting? And those are all issues in what used to be lag-free areas basically. God forbid you try any of those things during major "usually laggy events".

Most do not bother to use forums because they all see that no one from PWE listens to them. I even see plenty of people that recently believe GM's are "mythical creatures that do not really exist". Many also do not like the forums due to getting trolled by random people. I mean come on, you can literally post about anything and get trolled by someone, and a lot of people can not deal with that for some reason. And add to that all the posts about Mods just deleting, and add to that things like tickets being ignored (true or just rumor does not matter, this is what people see or hear).

If you read it right its a conspiracy theory....sadly many people KNOW GMs are real they just dont do ****. As for mods just deleting......they USUALLY do say something along the lines of why although they arent always right. Sometimes though i see them NOT deleting or closing threads they should but closing the ones they shouldnt which really baffles me. To get back on topic with what Elvenne said i dont have any fact to back it up but i personally believe this game is so glitched that there are random bugs sitting in your client that like to say "Hey youre doing a pull in FC i see.....time to crash the client" I mean reallly i know my internet is top of the line and my comp plays pwi flawless....I may not be super tech geeky but with all the other people i know saying their net and comp are great too but also having the random crashes and such makes u really question what is wrong.

Was logged on both RT and DW since 9pm est. with not even a twitch. Haven't been on HT for weeks.

It's also "your" by the way not "ur". Like I said, these forums are already over flowing with stupidity and thank you for proving it.

I had this "server crash" issue as well, though I'm very aware it wasn't a literal server crash since there were still people who weren't booted and had no problems signing on. I was disconnected in the middle of an instance, without even the tiniest bit of a lag warning, just poof.

A friend of mine who lives in a completely different state that I was talking to got booted too, and after 20-30 minutes of not being able to log back into any east coast server (west coast servers and morai were working just fine for me), I found out that half of my squad got booted as well, though the other half was not. Definitely weird, some others who got booted and I were talking and were thinking it was maybe a regional thing, but since most of us lived states/countries apart and still had the issue...

I don't know how server connections work very well, but it just really hated those select few of us last night I guess.

It happened to me last night while i was in a fc with my friends. I was the only one got disconnected; and couldnt log back on. I could log on west and Europe server; but not on east server. b:cry

PWI needs to fix their servers or get better ones cause every time I make hot coco this happens!

In your case, it's more likely that the microwave interfered with your local wifi signal. b:chuckle

For the person you're quoting, that's a regional router issue, not the servers.

TB this could all be solved if PWE actually put more of the money we spend on them back into the game then they do and upgrade their servers and get people that can properly test any new code before it is put into the game....but i personally think that there are so many random glitches running around that its only a matter of time before it all comes crashing down like a tsunami tidal wave of bugs from hell and they just close the servers all together or have to do a mass roll back.....something they SHOULD have done in response to the Orb code glitch but they said no lets just temp ban the people let them account stash their gear to another char and let them come back with full +10 gear....yea way to go with that PWE

Only one missing the point is you. In your total ignorance of how things work You insist on repeatedly calling internet disconnects "server crashes". A real server crash effects everyone connected to the server instead of a very small sample of the player base like say a regional issue will.

But of course in your ignorance you know best right? Has to be PWI's fault, couldn't be something like oh say... lines damaged from all the winter weather lately. Certainly couldn't be that or possibly repairs along the line or any other of a million things going on between their computers and the servers.

No it has to be like you say "a random bug glitch trolling random people" because we all know PWI has developed the most excellent form of AI on their servers just to troll random people with.

You might want to Google a few things next time before trying to discuss a topic you obviously know nothing at all about.
