Hi guys, I just found something out, don't know if it's somewhere in the forum, I can't find any using the search engine, so I tough I would share this.

QUICK GUIDE

Copy old c:\Program files (x86)\Perfect world Entertaiment\PWI_en_3 file to the new Folder of the same path on new HD.

Right click->Proprities->Security->Advance->Owner->Edit->
Select Replace owner on sub dir, and chose the current name admin for your new installation.
click on ok and yes to any message

Copy the old c:\Program files (x86)\Perfect world Entertaiment\Arc gameinfo.xml_0
to the new arc folder at the same place. Over wright and verify the security like step before

launch the arc and game.

LONG STORY

one of my HD went bad, and the boot file were on it. So I could not start Win 7 and I spend many hours trying to find a solution to this. Since the windows installation HD was not touch. I decided to repair the old drive and use it has a new installation for win 7 and get access to the old installation. From there I made a backup of all the filed and I copied a few files on the HD so I would not have to mount the ISO.

After unplugging all the hd except the one whit the old Win installation I perform a fresh format and install etc.

After a few more hours of update and reboot, I finally got to installing my games back.

1st thing I did was install Arc from the setup. and copied the PW installation from the back up to the same directory. At this point I was skeptic that the simple copy would be enough. From arc I push download, the arc program did not detect the files already on the PC and started to download the file again. Close to 60% I got tired of waiting and decided to test the game any way.

To my surprise starting the game from the elementclient.exe work. meaning only arc was not seeing the game on the HD it took me 5 minute to find the XML file and comparing them in a browser. The old XML file had the path of the game and the new one didn't. So I simply copied the old file over the new one. And Voila, Arc now start the launcher of PWI.

Last point in the middle somewhere I did press verify. But it went for about 10 minute and didn't seem to progress. I cancel this thing.

I'm not sure if any of those step I remove from the quick guide could have played in the restoration of the game. So here is the full story.

Also between the crash and the restoration only 2 days went by. I have no idea if an update goes in between what would happens, but I'm guessing it would only start the launcher like usual.

This process if it also work great would save ppl a lot of download time. Since you can simply back up the PW folder on a dvd and modify the gameinfo.xml file in a word editor.

You'll need a dual-layer DvD since the client is almost 6GB currently when it's Zipped. Easier to use a 8GB+ Flash drive.

Also, using this method, you don't need to install Arc either.
