Hello everyone, this is a friends account that I'm using to be able to post a thread on the forums. First of all, I am fairly new to Perfect World, and despite the fact that all my friends tell me that it's a "Pay to win" game, I still want to give it a try. I played many other MMORPGs and I am the PvP kinda player. However, my friend is making me play on Sanctuary server ( PvE ) he says there is no point for me to join PvP servers anymore because early - mid game PvP is dead and that ppl still PK on Sanctuary server. So what do you guys think? Should I play on Sanctuary? What are the most populated servers?

Thank you everyone and see ya in game!

Dont start it's a trap, this game is dying the company don't listen to players, a, simple restart end in rollbacks, servers go down without any explain, website and dq rewards/blessing rewards stop to work sudden too, and MAY be mandatory use arc to get the new reward system, its 2013 and pwi is starting to get very old, go find a awesome new game before you be too addict to leave here...And in the last there's no way to you catch up the cashers players if you want to pk i need to warn you that you going to be oneshot easy before get at least g16 and will still be oneshot by r9 players(the gods) so thats not a PVP friendly game at all unless you willing to put alot of real money here or spend 24/7/365 farming.
About PVE nobody do low quest's anymore and low level areas is completely empty, you can pay 200k(200.000) to get a spot in a fc(instance where ppl powerlevel to 100 killing heads).
That's all i can say now it's your choice.

It's all about what you expect and how you play. It's also about the friends you make along the way and finding people that share the same ideals as you overall.

If you strive to be endgame as fast as possible with the ultimate gear, yeah, pony up your wallet and forget about saving for a new car.

If you prefer more casual gameplay and don't mind the occasional farming/grinding, the game can be quite enjoyable. (And is one of the reasons I still play.)

The biggest issue for new players is the power creep, and the lack of other players in the lower level areas and instances. Lucky for you, you'll already have a friend, and likely a faction and in-game support to assist you in your travels. Which is a few steps farther forward than most new players have.

The game mechanics can be a bit in-depth if you really want to learn how to master gameplay. I'd recommend a lot of research and reading. With the newer quests and rewards, it's extremely easy to level a few characters into the 60's or 70's and find out which class you really like best. Don't look to others to answer that. The best part of it is descovery. You'll find your own style, and that's what's best for you. Not what someone tells you is best.

As far as servers and their populations, the original west coast servers are going to be more populated mostly because they are older. I personally prefer Sanctuary, but I also play on Harshlands, Dreamweaver, and Raging Tides. Of all the servers, Sanctuary is likely the most populated, but I'm mostly basing this on the fact that it was the first PvE server. There was another thread a few weeks or so ago with a discussion on this.

Harshlands is a Pvp server with many guild, the biggest being crimson, dark, infamous, mayhem, and kylin. And ofcourse a lot of other smaller ones. You can join banks i god and become a worshipper of the notorious Jim Jones wannabe syntherosX or even be a slave to manii, but being a underling of the ever hated.... Etc.... No one cares..... When I first began playing back in 2009, I was on Heaven's Tear. Then I switched to Raging Tide in 2010 (not my cup of tea, tbh) and now I'm on Sanctuary. Sanctuary is the youngest of the "old" servers I believe (HT, Dreamweaver, Harshlands, Lost City, Sanc) and has a solid community, probably the most populated of all servers or at least tied with HT. I have had good experiences with people on both HT and Sanc; of course there are always idiots, but most people are very helpful and friendly. If you like PVP, NW will be accessible to you as a mid-high level player, though you'll get steam-rolled by level 10Xs. I find it pretty amusing, however. There are also territory wars, which you won't be doing until you reach the endgame/pre-endgame level range (95-105), unless you have a faction leader like the one I had when I first started who enjoys pitting mid-levels against top-tier TW factions XD Additionally, all PVE servers have optional PK, where you can flag yourself and kill others who are similarly flagged. You can flag yourself after level 30, so if you've got friends who also want to PK at those early levels, you could PK with them and maybe ask faction-mates if they want to join in. You won't find much early-level PK without organizing it, though. As far as I can tell, open PK on PVE servers was always a mostly 'high level'-dominated thing.
