Some considerations

Hey guys, so I heard a lot about PWI, some say it is pay to win, some others say there is not traditional questing anymore because of some sort of power level, I just wanna know some veterans opinion, because I am very oldschool when it comes to MMO, and I was thinking of starting to play and if so I would like to quest all the way 1-105, with no or minimal cash shopping. I want to know if questing is still enjoyable, and If its possible to be oldschool like me in a game like this, and go all the way farming-questing w/o cash shopping. Like, building a good wealth playing the "hard" way. Give me your opinions, from what Ive watched and read till now, I loved the game, but havent finished downloading yet...
thanks in advance, looking forward to playy b:pleased
p.s. I would also like to know what class would you recommend for a beginner to play, to get used to the game if it is possible, ty ty

Play a Mystic. They're a great solo class with their pet and also a good support class with their heals. The fact that they can Resurrect themselves also saves time and makes them a fun solo class.
Join a server with a high population and near your timezone. Be conscious of whether it is a pvp server or not (imo pvp servers way more fun).
Join a faction with similar interests.
Leveling up without money is very fast and easy. Getting end game gear without cash is a bit harder.
Good luck.

thanks you for the advice, sure will follow them. Altho I prefer PvE, so I don't get randomly killed hehehe
I was thinking venomancer, could you tell me what's the big difference between 'em?
And about end-game gear, hard but still possible, right? I mean, if I am grinding hard or something like that...0 -
Venos and mystics are two totally different classes
When talking about playing solo I would say that the main difference is :
- Venos use the pet to tank and heal the pet. They can do additional DD (+amplify and so on)
- Mystics should tank and heal themselves. Summons are made to DD and not to tank~ Sage Mystic 105-105-105 ~

ok, ty for clearing things up for meb:victory
also, do you know a PvE server with a great and welcoming community? that would be nice0 -
Heaven's Tear and Sanctuary seem to be the most populated PVE servers. Both are west coast though.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Morai is not that bad as a PVE server. But server time is based on EU time (french hour basically) so depending of where you live it might not be the most suited one.~ Sage Mystic 105-105-105 ~

About endgame gear...
There are 3 levels of endgame gear.
T3: This is the final upgrade from Twilight Temple. The armor upgrade for this gear starts with Lv90 set. The weapon starts at lv60. BTW there is a Lv70 & Lv80 armor set but only Lv90 will upgrade to one of the acceptable endgame set. This set is the easiest, farmable, and least expensive to acquire.
Rank 8 (recast): I heard both good and bad about Rank 8. From what I understand is depends on the class you choose to play. There are three major expenses acquiring Rank 8. First is reputation you will need 200K. Second, are Rank 8 mats, fortunately they have become much easier to get from Nation Wars (NW). The Last is recasting to get the best attributes. I heard horror stories how some people have recast 20+ times only to get fail adds.
Rank 9 (recast x2): This currently is the OP gear of the game and the most expensive. The first and the hardest is getting to Rank 9. You must have 300k Reputation (63 gold) then its another 2 billion coin if you buy the Medal of Glorys (MoG) and General Summer Tokens (GST) during super sales. Once you have you Rank 9 the recast become much easier through participation in Nation Wars (NW) and Full Warsong (FWS).0 -
just like others input, choose the server that good for you to play. to level up and earn some coin at early level is not so hard. And if you want to get end game gear without CS or atleast CS with minimum money, try to farm, merch and do events in PWI such as tiger even, CoA, NW and so on.0

Hi, I don't mean to hijack the post but I am also a noob trying to get some more info on this game. Like the OP, I would like to play casually, however, I am more interested in getting into the pvp aspect of this game. I''ll most likely roll a sin, wizzy or archer.
I just want to know if anyone would compare the pvp of this game to that of **** (Dark Age of Camelot). I've been looking for a game with a similar feel to it but have yet to find something even remotely close. When I saw 80 v 80 fights, I was intrigued.
Can you level up in this game through primarily pvping?
Is there scaled down pvp for lower levels (equivalent to battlegrounds in ****) or is everything geared to end game content?0 -

1) No. There's no way to lvl with PVP. Lvl up is PVE only.
2) There's only a weekly tournament for PVP that separates players by lvl ranges. It's probably usually dead, though. Mostly it's end game content, though some mid lvls can have their share of fun on Nation Wars twice a week if they find similarly-geared squads on the opposing side. That, however, is pretty random.0 -
So unless there's an event going on, the day to day pvp interactions in this game are primarily skirmishes like pking and such?0

There is pvp event that good to level up and get good reward from it. you can do tourney weekly, that is pvp event. i think tourney is for level 70-79, 80-89 then 90+. and for NW, as long you are not afk and active in battle, you can get good reward. i know some ppl that level 90+ can get decent amount of token.0 -

It is possible to level via quests, etc, there is bhs (bounty hunter) but it can be incredibly difficult to form a bh or find others where the quests take you to kill mobs. (It can even be hard to find squads of people wanting to do 'at level' fc's (frostcovered city) a POPULAR place to level up when you eventually run out of quests. To be franc I am not sure if its possible to run out of quests prior to level 100.)
As for the best class to learn the game... hmm that really depends on the person, some are way better at being at a distance, whereas others are far more comfortable on a melee class.
I for one would suggest the seeker class they can take quite a bit of damage, and they can deal quite a bit as well... albeit it will take time to see their full potential... especially if you aren't power leveling. (Not saying it will take a year + to level up from level 1 - 100... but if you don't use hypers (what this game uses to power level) while in fc it may just take you close to that, though with any luck normal quests + the aformentioned bh's I wouldn't be surprised if you got to 100 well before that year is up.... assuming you can find squads for bhs. (bh's 100+ are easier to obtain a squad with/for.... but to be completely franc here on the DW server, I have so noticed a decline in people forming them.)Ah, Mistakes are so easily made. ~ laura resnick
What kind of message are you sending when you insult my intelligence? ~ Me ~ 5/29/2015 (Yes it is possible someone said this before just no idea who/where.)0 -
Ehhhhh
Game is pretty much endgame, as is to be expected for a game this old
105 is essentially out of the picture atm because the devs squashed 100-150 into 100-105, resulting in an insurmountable barrier only breached by an old trick or by soloing Phoenix Valley (100+) multiple times in the 15 minutes you have (impossible before absolute endgame gears)
Endgame gear is basically Nirvana Tier 3 (G16) at the very least. Assassins need their Rank 8 chest for -interval (this is a demonstration of PW's -interval system that lets melee DPS hit the cap of 5 attacks per second. Skai is 4aps due to using R9 weapon instead of one with interval) Assassins, Blademasters and the rare APS Barbarian also use Twiligh Temple level 99 gold arms/wrists/belt and necklace to get the -interval bonuses they need to reach 5aps. Oh, yea, Archers get the -0.1 sec interval on their r8, too, so they turn out to be a nice aps class if you choose to spend extra
R8r is expensive and only really worth it for Sins, Archers BMs and barbs going for interval
PVP wise it's full G16 at least or gtfo tbh. Mass pvp will more or less be a tab targeting turkey shoot for R9rr or well refined G16. Open world is mostly dead because people are rushing into instances for gear but it's very possible to find friends to pk with
80v80 Territory Wars is more or less 40v40 to 60v60
So basically it boils down to finding the right friends and an active faction to work with. Dreamweaver (GMT-5) is fairly populated
As for leveling you can easily solo quest from 1-80. From 80 on BH (69 and 79 basically) becomes much easier to find if you World Chat to form and offer free wines in exchange for 3* and mold drops, or just wait for someone else to do it. 80+ you'll be spamming Frostcovered City to 95, at which point you'll do Morai instance to 96 and then FC + do Morai daily quests to 100, and that's when the fun (BH100, Warsong City, TW, full Delta (yea it's 85+ but who does it until they have to anyways lol) starts)Channels
