PWI patcher won't come up.

After I click "Play" I get the "connecting to server" thing for a couple minutes, then it vanishes. After which, the patcher just simply won't come up. I try clicking on the "play" button on Arc, but it says the game is running. Well, where is it? I don't see it!

Note: Running on Windows 8 and its a brand new computer too!

Seriously...if its not going to come up at all...why do you even have Arc?

Edit: I went through the files, and brought the patcher up manually....the update server isn't connecting....AGAIN. What the hell is with you?

    Based on the others I have worked with on similar issues, you have a problem with your AV and/or firewall getting in the way.

    You need to fix your security software so that it won't break the client files and will allow it through the firewall. (Same goes for Arc.)

    If you don't feel this is the case, feel free to provide detailed information.

    Would Avast Antivirus get in the way?

    Edit: Disabled and am reinstalling everything. Perhaps that'll get the result I want.

    Windows 8.1? I got windows 8.1 and got the same issue

    Yes Avast is especially good at quarantining files and not letting you know.

    You absolutely must disable the active scan when downloading, and you have to exclude Arc's and the client's directories from all scans after they are installed.

    If you didn't do that, you'll need to do it, and then verify the files a few times.

    Sorry for the delayed response.

    Avast used to have some nice walkthroughs, but I can't find them anymore, and my links are broken.

    Did find this video though.

    Thank you. Although I did figure it out. I'm trying something COMPLETELY different. I'm going to temporarily remove avast, then install PWI, THEN reinstall Avast if it works.


    Edit: It didn't work. What the hell is going on?
