Levelling pets effectively

I guess many people already know this, but since I couldn't find it anywhere here on the forum I thought I'd share...

I'm currently in one of those stages all venos love [/sarcasm]: Your pets are 10-20 levels behind you constantly, so they need some extra levelling.
While cube room 4 and Staunch Worms west of Raging Tides City provide a a good way to level land/air pets, there is one spot which - in my opinion - is a lot more efficient:

South-east of Timberfield, directly west of the Tower of Darkness, there is a kind of altar (red building on the zoomed-in map) with lots of lv100 mobs with 100hp. They don't aggro and run away when being hit, with a rather quick respawn rate.

They are magic immune and low-lvl pets won't be able to one-shot them. I'm currently levelling my herc, and it was able to kill them in one hit at lvl50.

I also levelled my air pet there just hovering above and sending it down. It does get stuck in the ground a lot, but still kills a lot faster than Worms near R.Tides.

For ground pets, I recommend going fox form and running around with your pet. You can use Befuddling Mist to aoe mobs which are clumped up, and send your pet to kill everything else.


I hope this helps some of you to get over the terrible boredom of pet levelling.

    I'd rather lvl to 100 faster and start doing Lycaeum. You can lvl your pets for feral soul stars pretty fast without spending much time. As for needing a pet of your lvl before 100, i don't think it's of such a great need. Especially it it's herc. It's far ahead of normal pets in terms of survivability, you can live with lower lvl herc for a while.
    It's just my opinion, i don't like to waste time for useless stuff. You can spend those hours for lvling yourself instead of your pet =)
    Besides, lvling pets is not the most exciting activity b:chuckle

    If you want to be really efficient, you'll probably get to 100 and start working on pets after having access to the Lycaeum. Feral Soul Stars are indeed very effective for leveling.

    One more reason is that, evolved pets are so much better than their un-evolved counterparts so regular pets are kinda meh once you've tasted the pet evolution.

    With that said, if someone's not so much into leveling and wants to spend time in the mid game content or has their own reasons to slow their leveling down then there's nothing wrong with trying to keep your pet at level.

    However, I'd probably choose my most used pet to keep at level and let the others fall behind if they aren't so important. A pulling pet doesn't need to be at level if it's fast or its ranged for example.

    I'll also add to the OP's post Cube room 4 "Mice Bashing" which is a well known pet leveling hang out. There's also Chrono maps that include lvl [?] monsters that are ideal for pet leveling as well as grinding for DQ (two in one!).

    Oh those mobs must be newish, probably like the ones near the Earthguard starting zone. Anyone know what is their purpose?
    Thank you for the tip about them! What I used to do to level up my pets were quests lol. That is, till the 90s, when the amount of mobs got annoying. I wish we had those mobs while I was leveling up, I didn't like cube at all.

    I just want to have at least 1-2 pets around my level to be able to do some stuff decently, and not feel like I'm behind the abilities I could have... and I really didn't want to keep my nix at lvl 1 :P

    But I am looking forward to the Lyceum and all the evolved pets, as so many people are really happy with the results.

    Somewhere on the very east of the map, in the water is a group of elemental immune, 100 hp jellyfish. I assume this is to train water pets on o.o I'll try and find the exact coordinates when I can log in in a few hours. Not that it's really any use since water pets are semi-useless but I found it interesting b:chuckle

    I made a lot of good coin leveling my pets. -I'm surprised people don't mind wasting it.

    woa i was going to say use the fcc with all those pulls, but i just very sadly discovered that my pets not getting exp there.
    after a lot of time im in the situation where im some level toward them and so is the first time that they need the exp there. first time that i check it of course cause they always were reaady to level up long before me...

    is there something im missing or its really so sad? maybe some level requirement in the team or so?

    Pets only get exp from the monsters you kill,not from the kills of your squad members. Also, if the monster is 4 levels (?) under your pet's lvl, it won't get any exp.

    You have to hit the mob first to get exp.

    if you contribute highest damage compare than your squad mate, pet can get exp. atleast that is how i level up my pet in bh delta before veno daily event.

    Cube of Fate seems more effective. Just tab + hit things with venomous while pet is out. Or probably get a lv100 veno to use stars on your pet.
