Thinking about getting back into the game.

Hey guys,

So I haven't played PWI in a LONG time and I know things have changed. I know my avatar shows a level 90 barb but he has long since been **** and has no gear other than what was bound (which wasn't much unfortunately). So I would plan to start new.

Currently, I am a broke college student so if I play, I plan to grind, level slow, do quests, and spend no money whatsoever on the game.

My question is this: is playing the game this way (old school?) viable anymore or should I just move on?

Also, which classes would succeed better than others?

It would be nice to get some feedback from anyone who has tried playing this way and was either successful or unsuccessful but any comment is welcome.

Thanks!

"Leveling slow" is a lot faster than it used to be thanks to revamped quests, with fewer mobs and higher rewards. It's difficult to get coin by grinding pre-level 80 thanks to DQ nerfs, but new dailies for 21-80 have been added (Jolly Old Jones has bounty quest dailies that give fairly good coin and no XP, if you don't mind doing the same 3 tasks interminably until you level up to the next same 3 tasks.)

Well as long as it is possible to succeed. I know I will never be the best or even close but I am looking to play casually here and there since college/work takes up the majority of my time.

This game is fine for the casual gamer, you just have to go into it with the right expectations.

-leveling has gotten a lot easier. Even just playing casually you can get your character into the mid level rage within a week or two.

-low and mid level range open-questing areas aren't swarming with people. You'll see a couple here and there, but since it's so easy to get to endgame, a lot of people essentially skip over mid-game content.

-you won't be competitive in endgame pvp as a casual gamer (unless you can learn to merchant really). Farming for that type of gear takes more time than a causal gamer has to offer.

That being said there are still people here at the game, the graphics are still very pretty, and if you like the character mechanics, why not? You can still find active guilds with either no level requirement, or a lower one (40 or 60) and really that's what makes the game enjoyable.

I think it comes down to personal opinion. Hop on the game again and check it out. If it's your cup of tea, stay, and if you would rather do something else, do something else. :)

It depends what your looking for.

As said above its a lot easier to level than it use to be.
Though you won't find many players around lvl 1-40 as many just either power level or just grind for a few hours and many just do their cultis.

The game is still very pretty and I've played since beta times and I still lo e it and seem to always crawl back once I've quit for a few months.

The game is still very friendly to casual player who just want to enjoy the game rather than sell a while bunch of stuff and get the best gear in the game like some.

You probably won't be that great in the pvp side unless ( stated above ) you learn how merch and get some money for it.

I've been wanting to come back to, always loved my venomancer :) This confirmed it, downloading now :) I'm wondering though, if I should be on a pvp server like I was before...
