SCAM - A million lost.

Hi, before I even begin, please do not tell me that it is the 'player's' fault losing coins because scams are unpredictable.

It isn't me who was victimised but my friend, he paid 1.1 mil to do fc however this is what happened:

"after I paid him he made me lead, and left pt, and then was like buff me.. so he inv me to pt.. i accepted.. buffed him, timer started counting down and I got kicked.. and now he dnt wanna give back money or do another room"

That's what my friend said. He paid a million for nothing and I told him to report him, he said that there is no use since he read somewhere that it is the player's fault. However, my point is.. if scammers are like that, then they aren't predictable, they're devious and the victims can't even do anything about it since I don't find any ways to report that person. My friend is always aware of scams, he don't pay until he's inside and made sure that the person will kill the mobs. This is the first time it happened and he's not very happy with it.

We just hope that maybe there is a way that this person could be punished by the authorities since my friend didn't earn his coins for free.

Please, I'd really appreciate if someone could take action for this.

If you know any other ways to get the coins back or at least report this player, please message me and let me know. Thank you again.
I wish I could really fly..
It would be so much easier to be with you.

Well player names aren't allowed to posted on forums like that, so they will get removed eventually. The only thing your friend can do is send a ticket, explaining the situation. However it is his fault. He should know that if you are a leader of a party (in his case solo) and you get invited, you get "Kicked" from your own party and thus loosing the instance. He could also leave the party after the timer, I believe that would stop the timer, but I don't remember exactly how it works. The fc seller didn't have any benefit in doing that either, so it sounds more like a mistake then a scam. He could do a free fc after, since he was the one inviting, but not everyone is trying to be fair :/

First - no naming and shaming.

Second - sorry it is the players fault. Whenever paying for something in game with another character, you take a risk. It's like 99% of the WC bids where someone says [insert item here] c/o 20 mill. Then c/o 21 mill, c/o 22 mill, rinse and repeat, then the following day they are selling it again. Have a current offer list the name of the player bidding. [insert item name here] c/o 23 mill by Wickedbrew. It cuts down on the potential scams of fake bids. Not completely, but some.

Third - I have no sympathy for anyone that buys FC and loses coin. Boo EFFING hoo. No one said your friend had to powerlevel and run the risk of paying for something that is more often than anything else in game, scammed. FC is the scourge of this game.

It's against the forum terms of service. I would recommend reading them. Naming and shaming anyone regardless of the alleged infraction is against the rules. A forum mod will snip the name of the accused if you don't first.

Yes, much better. Though in some instances I agree the rule is a bit absurd, it does alleviate naming and shaming an innocent person because you dont like them. (Not you specifically, just a general statement)

Sorry, but I don't think you understand how instance locks work in this game.

If your friend was in fc with no timer, they owned the lock. If the other person then invited them, they would get a timer because they are no longer in the squad that owns the instance. That was mistake #1 your friend made that makes it their fault.

If your friend then left afterwards, they would get the instance back. If the seller invited them, passed them lead, and then left, then neither one of them would get the instance - which is why Nariin said it was probably a mistake.

The exact course of events you specified:

    - Pay for room
    - Get instance lock, other person leaves
    - Get invited to other squad (-> timer starts)
    - Timer hits 0, get kicked out of instance

Shows that the entire issue was your friend's fault, not the seller's. If they had simply left the squad before the timer ran out, they would not have lost the instance.

In fact, for 20 minutes after they got kicked out, they could've left the squad (still assuming they don't have lead) and gotten the instance back.

Wow, I completely missed that key point. Guess I shouldn't respond to the OP while at work.

To the OP, yeah your friend goofed. It wasn't the sellers fault at all. I wouldnt have refunded the coin either. They did the work, cleared to the heads room, and your friend, not understanding the mechanics of an instance and the timer, screwed up, so what I said stands true. Good thing you removed the name of the one you said scammed, because they were innocent according to your post and what happened.

    Ummmm, wow.

Your friend should know that if he accepted that guys invite he would get the timer, so its your friends fault. I don't understand why people think they are entitled to a refund or compensation when they are so careless or stupid in the first place.

this is why you make a squad to run fc, just not buy, or if you must buy ask a faction member or a closefriend.....you deserved to lose that million.

Because most of the parental basement dwellers that play this game are in such a hurry that they just can't take a little more time. I even see people 90+ wanting to buy b/m/h on wc, some even level 95 to 99.

This game is in a sad, sad state

Well yeah, your friend made mistake with accepting the invite, shouldve invited them instead to squad if they wanted buffs. Also, fc seller might have not scammed you as Nariin said, couldve been a pure mistake. But if it wasnt, then the person simply could just get enjoyment of seeing people lose their money (kinda far caught but still).

If id make a mistake like this to invite someone, Id do a free room unless Im in a hurry. That couldve been the chance, too. But then again, there's friendlist you can add that person to and later on ask if they are up for it later.

But as other people said, go ahead and tell your friend to try to send a ticket but most likely PWI will just ignore it and put it on your friend's fault. They dont much bother with returning 1m coins, as long as any higher either.

Remember. Dont blame it on scam, if they were sorry and situation looks like this, mightve been an accident. Those happen every now and then. Hope your friends gets things fixed up.
