To return or not?

Hi there, i first started playing PWI just after it's live launch, i played it up until the Earthguard release as i wasn't happy with a lot of it being pay-to-stand a chance, and my income was getting messed up due to the reccession at the time. I want to return, but i would like to know is it still P2W , or is it possible now to not pay a penny and stand a good chance, or maybe even a small amount.

I just want to play and enjoy the time i can play, being a full time father now, i would like to wind down after sorting the baby out. Which brings me to another question, i miss the social element PWI used to have, is the community still large, or is it much smaller now?

Any reply would be great thanks, and if someone could go into detail about the pros and cons since the Earthguard update, even better, but i appreciate the reply anyway!

well. do you plan on having the baby farming DQ?b:chuckle

pve-wise you can have a pretty decent toon after a decent amount of time.
pvp-wise, the recent expansions offer ways to farm not so bad gear relatively fast.
however, people that pay still have (and will always have) a fairly big advantage.

the community is smaller and it's really noticeable in lower levels but the population is enough for all your 100+ squads

Just focus on your family. Not worth coming back. Still P2W unless you have the time to farm constantly or merchant well. And in all honesty, it's really boring now anyway. I wouldn't if I were you, especially you being a father, spend time with your child.

Its worth it if you are willing to farm a lot and spend some money on endgame gear

It depends what you want to do:

Community: Depends on Faction. Not many people quest anymore.
    PvE: completely doable
Non-competitive pvp: takes some effort and time.
Competitive pvp: Either be a really good merchant or prepare to farm all day every day.
    TW: It's a group effort.

But that was my favourite part... mainly because we were really really role-playing the whole thing. I've seen my share of bounty hunter quests, several TWs and and I never missed siege of Archosaur, which is my favourite time for RP-ing b:pleased

This must be a personal decision. With farming warsung and doing nation wars you have excellent chance of achieving decent gear.
If coming back for say tw well for the most part the main tw factions are all high ended gear so could be a survivability issue.
But to just come back hang around and have some fun its very do-able dailys and instances can be lots of fun with the right group.
Any good finacial advisor will tell you putting mega coin in a game that one day will end is very foolish unless you have abundance of money to waste.
And one day the young heavy cash shoppers will wonder why they did this for a game Im afraid.

wow sonny, married life made u bitter??? whats arty doing wrong? XD game is fun and u know is not p2w, just takes time and work, and not everyone wants to do it, i think it gets boring for ppl with endgame gear and no new goals only
